Estimativa da chuva efetiva para o cultivo de arroz irrigado por submers?o com lamina contínua

Abstract: a computer model was developed based on computerized spreed sheet to estimate the effective rainfall for irrigated rice by innundation. the model has considered the specific conditions of irrigated rice in the rio grande do sul state in albaqualf soil. two different irrigation water managements were considered: (i) using the actual situation used by farmers and; (ii) the management recommended by local research centers. in the first one, a water depth of 25mm was used since the beginning of irrigation and a progressive increase in the water table wafs used until a value of 100mm was reached. however, in the second one, the initial water depth of 25mm was increased only until reached 35mm, then was kept at this value, and when a higher water depth is recommended, it was elevated to 75mm. it was observed higher values of effective rainfall in the water depth management recommended by the research centers compared to water managementes mainly used by farmer. the implementation of this water depth managements can reduce water application up to 20%.

Abstract: the drownings and submersions are the third cause of accidental death in cuba. in order to identify the behavior of mortality from this type of accident, a descriptive study of deaths resulting from drowning and submersion ocurred in cuba from 1987 to 2002 was made. the sources of information were the databases of the national division of statistics of the ministry of public health and the population estimates of the national office of statistics. the variables collected were: age, sex, cause of accident, province of residence and populations. the following indicators were calculated: mortality rates, standardized ratio of mortality and percentages. the mortality rates from accidental drowning and submersion in cuba ranged from 3.4 x 100 000 inhabitants in 1987 to 2.8 in 2002. santiago de cuba, las tunas, holguín and the special municipality of isla de la juventud had the highest rates. the youngest and the males were the most affected. all this shows the need to strengthen the measures to prevent this type of accident.
Tooth ankylosis: Orthodontic implications.

Abstract: Tooth ankylosis is a condition, which may lead to an occlusal abnormality. The etiology is unknown although different and often contradicting opinions have been presented. It prevails on primary teeth, characterized by progressive infraocclusion. Ankylosis on permanent teeth is less frequent and is associated with trauma and impaction. Management of the affected tooth ranges from simple observation to extraction. A protocol assisting in the proper diagnosis and treatment is presented.

Abstract: The Effect of the Submersion Length’s in Virgin Coconut Oil on the Shelf Life of Chicken Meat under Room Temperature Storage Salam N. Aritonang, Elsa Martineli and Risanti Eltiana Department of Animal Production, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Andalas University, Padang 25163, Indonesia Abstract: The research of the length submersion effect of chicken meat in Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) on the shelf life of chicken meat under room temperature storage was done by using 4 kg breast meat of 6 weeks old broiler. The design of experiment was a completely randomized design where the treatment were 4 different submersion period of chicken meat in virgin coconut oil for 0 h (A), 1 h (B), 2 h (C) and 3 h (D) with five replication. The variables observed were content of moisture and protein, bacteria colony count and the shelf life of chicken meat. The result of this research indicated that submersion length’s of the chicken meat in VCO has significantly decreased moisture content and bacteria colony count and increased the protein content and the shelf life of chicken meat. It showed that submersion of the chicken for 2 h in VCO has significantly improved the shelf life of the chicken meat (15 h) under room temperature.

Abstract: The effects of the incubation temperature, initial pH of the medium, carbon source and nitrogen source on the production of Crypthecodinium cohnii C98 were studied. Through orthogonal experiments, the optimum culture medium was obtained (g/L): Glucose, 65; Yeast extract, 2.0; KNO3 3.0, KH2PO4 1.0, MgSO4.7H2O 0.6, NaCl 5.8, CaCl2.2H2O 0.1, ZnSO4.7H2O 0.0067, FeCl3.6H2O 0.014, CuSO4.5H2O 0.0004, MnSO4.H2O 0.0002. Under the optimum culture conditions, the microalgae dry cell weight and eicosapentaenoic acid was 18.3 g/L and 0.891 g/L, respectively. The submersion culture process was analysed.

Abstract: Poyang Lake wetland, as an important wetland in the world, is known for its periodic variation of water level in a year affected by the Yangtze River and its tributaries of Ganjiang, Fujiang, Xinjiang, Raojiang and Xiushui rivers. It is very significant to understand the variation of water level for rational exploitation and conservancy of the wetland. This paper, taking Poyang Lake Nature Reserve as a study area, developed a model to simulate the water level and the status of submersion or emersion of wetland using DEM, multi-temporal images and multi-year water level data. First, a new water index FDWI was created to identify the water pixels based on spectrum feature difference between bands 2 and 7 of Landsat TM. The accuracy of classification for water and non-water reaches about 98%. Spatial overlay analysis was performed to obtain the elevations of both water and non-water pixels. Two normal distribution curves were then presented according to elevation statistics. The elevation in the crossed point of two curves was set as the value of water level. With the water level correlation analysis between wetland and Poyang Lake, the regression equations in different lake buffer areas were developed. Furthermore, the model for water level and status of submersion or emersion of wetland was constructed, concerning the topography, buffer areas and water level of Poyang Lake. Finally, the model was validated in estimating the temporal changes of water level of wetland for flood, normal and dry years respectively, as well as in simulating the spatial distribution of both water and non-water pixels of wetland on October 9, 2000. The result shows that the model has satisfactory simulated effect with accuracy above 85%.

Abstract: Los ahogamientos y sumersiones constituyen la tercera causa de muerte accidental en Cuba. Con el objetivo de identificar el comportamiento de la mortalidad por este tipo de accidente, se hizo un estudio descriptivo de las defunciones por ahogamiento y sumersión ocurridas en el país durante el período 1987-2002. Las fuentes de información fueron las bases de datos de la Dirección Nacional de Estadísticas del Ministerio de Salud Pública y los estimados de población de la Oficina Nacional de Estadísticas. Las variables recogidas fueron: edad, sexo, causa del accidente, provincia de residencia y poblaciones. Los indicadores calculados: tasas de mortalidad, razón estandarizada de mortalidad y porcentajes. Las tasas de mortalidad por ahogamiento y sumersión accidentales en Cuba variaron de 3,4 x 100 000 habitantes en 1987 a 2,8 en el 2002. Entre las provincias con mayores tasas se destacaron Santiago de Cuba, Las Tunas, Holguín y el Municipio Especial Isla de la Juventud. Las edades más jóvenes y el sexo masculino fueron los más afectados. Todo esto denota la necesidad de fortalecer las medidas para prevenir este tipo de accidente. Vivre avec ou par le risque à l’ le de Sein ?

Abstract: L’ le de Sein, située au large des c tes finistériennes, fait figure de territoire du risque par excellence : cette le basse est confrontée à de fréquentes et violentes tempêtes, la population vit avec le risque de submersion depuis des générations tout en voyant la probabilité des aléas catastrophiques augmenter en raison de la carence en aménagement et des conséquences probables du réchauffement climatique. L’image du risque, notamment les photographies de tempête, sert de support à la diffusion d’un sentiment anxiogène justifiant des actions de gestion du risque, mais entretient aussi un sentiment de fascination à l’égard des épisodes tempétueux. Cependant, les liens portent un regard bien plus critique sur le spectaculaire véhiculé par de telles représentations. Le présent article se penche sur ces rapports entre représentations sociales du risque et iconographie du risque. This article stresses on relationships between hazard’s social representations and iconographies. As an illustration, Sein Island (located near by the Brittany coast, in Finistère). This island is considered as a symbol of natural hazard territory: indeed this low island has been confronted for decades to face significant flood hazard that is nowadays strengthened by the consequences of global warming and a lack of infrastructures. Pictures of flood hazards, and more particularly pictures of storms, are used in order to spread around the fear of natural disasters. This fear justifies the management policies implemented on the island. However islanders criticize pictures which are too spectacular and too distorted. Those gaps between hazard’s representations and iconographies are the main subjects of this article.
