Bulletin of Health Research , 2012,
Abstract: The study on practices and perception in nutrition and health with the aim to understand the potential for retaining or changing current practices that can improve the nutrition status of infants and young children had been carried out in Martapura, South Kalimantan, in 1996. The area has been known as an Islamic town, where the people are strongly religious. Mothers are responsible for taking care of their children, while fathers are responsible for income. Mothers with wellnourished children seemed more confident and future oriented than mothers with undernourished children. Mothers with undernourished children are more concerned about negative physical reaction (vomiting, abdominal distention) of the child to a new food than mothers with wellnourished children. Although many families seek health services from government services, there is still a strong influence of the traditional sector. This is least common in urban areas and most common in rural areas. Attendance at Posyandu sessions varies by area. Most mothers also attend religious meetings such as pengajian and Yasinan. These community meetings seems an obvious forum for delivering nutrition extension. The tuan guru or ulama is very important in delivering program messages. Fathers should also be reached to advocate certain practices in the home.

'Barrig?o à mostra': vicissitudes e valoriza??o do corpo reprodutivo na constru??o das imagens da gravidez
Vargas, Eliane Portes;
História, Ciências, Saúde-Manguinhos , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-59702012000100013
Abstract: this analysis of images of maternity and pregnancy seeks to identify the values and social conduct behind their creation. through transformations of identities, the representations of the pregnant body that circulate in the media reflect a peculiar combination of values which, while affirming freedom of choice and self-realization, also suggest that a female nature exists. scientific conceptions of problems related to biological reproduction are widely conveyed as a biological problem attributable to the individual or couple. historical analyses, however, show that the way we view reproductive events has changed, reflecting how modern medicine has intervened in our bodies and in the family and how female identity has been affirmed.
