Methodology of Sustainability Indicators Determination for Enterprise Assessment

Abstract: Lithuanian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) need the indicators system for evaluating their sustainability. Because of some difficulties to quantify the aspects of sustainability, not only quantitative but also qualitative indicators are recommended. To select sustainability indicators, an initial set of quantitative indicators was compiled from both sustainability indicators and separate environmental indicators systems. A qualitative indicators set was compiled from one developed qualitative indicators system. The survey of experts was organized for determining qualitative and quantitative sustainability indicators. Budget allocation processes were used as a weighting method. To adjust indicators and weighting coefficients for enterprises in developing or developed countries determination and weighting procedure by national experts should be repeated. Assessment according to the standardized methodology can show only essential problems and it is the first step towards the improvement process.

Abstract: the construction of an evaluation model for high school scientific initiation programs is proposed, regarding educational legislation and social demands, mainly those allowing the search for knowledge and the rising of a productive citizen in such a way to ensure his autonomous and critical participation. the article intends to contribute to the consolidation of young researchers in oriented programs that may contribute to their qualitative improvement, through the making of useful evaluation indicators.

Abstract: revision of the criteria which must be applied in measuring the quality of the products coming from processes of documental analysis of content. the quality of the tasks corresponding, especially, to indexing and abstract is important for allowing a satisfactory retrieval of information and an appropriate explanation of the contents to the users. the traits and criteria about a process which cannot be limited only to statistical and numerical measure of the qualitative factors are described. they can only be evaluated through the personal observation and judgment underlined in the tasks of identification of the evaluated repertories, appraisal of professional preparation of the analysts, existence of norms or guidelines in the center, and type of language utilized for carrying out the indexing. these qualitative factors or criteria are specified as they reutilize abstracts and indexing done in the source, as they have carried out the transfer from the superstructure, according to a technical quality, and a thorough analysis. measuring units or indicators are also included (as for instance, covering and undermining of the repertories; coherence; information density; exhaustiveness; temporal indicator; indicator of costs; indicator of user effort; and indicator of errors; index of coherence; legibility; relevance; depth; size).
The efficiency and quality dilemma: What drives South African call centre management performance indicators?

Abstract: Orientation: Call centres have become principal channels of communication with customers. Therefore, companies attempt to reduce costs and improve the quality of their interactions with customers simultaneously. These objectives are often conflicting and call centre managers struggle to balance the efficiency and quality priorities of the business. Research purpose: This study explored the key performance indicators that drive management practices in the South African call centre industry in the context of the dilemma between efficiency and quality. Motivation for the study: The South African government has identified call centres as a method of creating jobs and foreign investment. Management practices affect centres’ performance. Understanding these practices will help to achieve these aims. Research design: The researchers used a web-based questionnaire in a survey with South African call centre managers in more than 44 different organisations that represented nine industry sectors. Main findings: This study indicated that the dilemma between efficiency and quality is prevalent in South African call centres and that efficiency key performance indicators drive management practices. Practical/managerial implications: The inconsistencies the study reported mean that South African organisations should assess the alignment between their organisational visions, the strategic intentions of their call centres and the performance measures they use to assess their call centre managers. Contribution/value-add: This study adds to the relatively small amount of empirical research available on the call centre industry in South Africa. Sustainability Assessment of Enterprises in Printing Industry

Abstract: A sustainability concept having been applied from global to national, regional and other levels, enterprises are striving to be more sustainable in environmental and social issues. There is a growing need to have sustainability assessment and implementation tools. The most popular is the Global Reporting Initiative which gives recommendations for sustainability assessment of enterprises in different sectors. The guidelines are prepared for logistics and transportation, financial services, mining and metals, telecommunication and the others but not yet for printing industry. The objective of the paper is to assess sustainability of printing enterprises. To achieve it the following tasks have been determined: 1) adopt sustainability assessment methodology to printing industry; 2) apply sustainability assessment to chosen printing enterprises and 3) suggest the measures for sustainable development of printing enterprises. A sustainability assessment system is developed and applied which consists of qualitative and quantitative parts and composite index. Qualitative and quantitative parts are aggregated into one improved sustainability index. Enterprises are rated according to their achievements in sustainability from unsustainable through basic to progressive sustainable enterprises. The sustainability indices show that enterprises are at the basic level of sustainability. The main areas for improvement in printing enterprises are the following: use of more ecologic paper, paints and other resources; reduction of volatile organic compounds, use of renewable energy, etc. The case of an applied sustainability assessment system has shown that it can be adapted to enterprises of other sectors.
Internal Model of Commercial Bank as an Instrument for Measuring Credit Risk of the Borrower in Relation to Financial Performance (Credit Scoring and Bankruptcy Models)

Abstract: Commercial banks generally use different methods and procedures for managing credit risk. The internal rating method in which the client has an important position in the process of granting credit provides a comprehensive assessment of client creditworthiness. The aim of this article is to analyze selected theoretical, methodological and practical aspects of internal rating models of commercial banks within the context of models that measures financial performance and to make a comparison of results of real - rating models which are used in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The results of the chosen credit scoring and bankruptcy methods on selected companies from segments of small and medium-sized companies are presented.

Abstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate the degree of relationship and association amongst morphological characters of groundnut as an important food crop in Nigeria. 118 cultivars were planted in a completely randomized design structure. Characterization was based on qualitative and quantitative evaluations of 62 characters. Data were analysed on the SPSS software (20.0 versions). Correlation tools were applied using Spearman, Kendall and Pearson methods. Level of relationship was determined based on the strength of coefficients R. Dependence among traits was tested using the Chi square. Multiple regression analysis was carried out in a predictive model. As a result, many of the traits are very weakly correlated. Day to emergence has no effect on Day to 50% flowering (R = 0.237, p < 0.05) and number of flower (R = 0.221, p < 0.05). Day to first flowering weakly correlates with maturity time of the plant (R = 0.39, p < 0.01) but no effect on the yield. Also, number of flower correlates moderately with number of pods (R = 0.535, p < 0.01) and seeds (R = 0.409, p < 0.01). Plant height also moderately affects leaflet sizes (R = 0.354, p < 0.01)

Abstract: A method for evaluation of the Advanced Studies and Research Center (Cinvestav) at the National Technology Institute of Mexico, Library’s periodical collection is described. An evaluation matrix is used to calculate the cost-benefit of periodicals from quantitative and qualitative indicators. Citing analysis of periodicals and dissertations are made and aspects like the impact factor, statistical analysis of use, and suscription costs are also considered. The results obtained allow the evaluation of the general collection status, according to user’s necessities. This study offers elements which make the taking of decisions easier during budget restrictions, reorientation of financial resources, improvement of collections and to increase the efficiency of library services. This method could be useful for any libraries with similar characteristics to the Cinvestav. En este trabajo se aplica un método para evaluar la colección de publicaciones periódicas vigentes del Centro de Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados (Cinvestav) del Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), de México. Se utiliza una matriz de evaluación para la obtención del índice costobeneficio, a partir de la aplicación tanto de indicadores cuantitativos como cualitativos. Se realizan estudios de citación, tanto en revistas como en tesis, y se toman en consideración aspectos tales como el factor de impacto de las publicaciones, datos estadísticos de uso y costo de las publicaciones. Con los resultados obtenidos se pudo evaluar el estado de este acervo en función de las necesidades de los usuarios potenciales y reales. Se ofrecen elementos que facilitarán la toma de decisiones por ajuste presupuestal, la reorientación de recursos, la mejora de la colección y de algunos servicios bibliotecarios. El método aplicado puede ser de utilidad para cualquier biblioteca con características similares a las de este centro de investigación.
Statistical Indicators System regarding Religious Phenomena

Abstract: The approaching ways in religious phenomenon quantitative studies are, most of the times, based only on the evolution of adherent flows and population structure from a religious point of view. In this pape, an integrated statistical indicators system will be designed. The main purpose of the system is to enhance the quality and coherence of the religious phenomenon. The most important indicators from the integrated system are: context indicators (political, economical, socio-cultural, demographical), basic indicators, level and structure indicators, participation indicators, resource indicators (spiritual, human and pecuniary), quality, efficiency and outcomes (religious freedom, social connections, international relationships). Designing a complete, coherent system of indicators is necessary for a correct approach in studying the religious phenomenon. Statistical indicators can supply quantitative data for the operational description of the religious phenomenon. The indicators’ system makes possible not only a descriptive analysis but also some advanced statistical techniques (e.g. regression and correlation method).

Abstract: during the second half of the xx century, a debate related to differences and goodness of quantitative and qualitative research method has been under discussion in scientific research and nursing field. the objective of this article is to analyse the progress which has been made about qualitative and quantitavive approach in research teaching method in different levels of nursing education. literature related to this published matter permits to realize there is a separation between qualitative and quantitative methodological approches in teaching research in nursing in all levels of education. some efforts are recorded in order to insert both approaches in english speaking countries mainly. however, those efforts have been scant and relative in relation to the development of the phd thesis in latin america context. to sum up, it would be appropriate to provide both approaches inclusion syllabus.
