Journal of Agronomy , 2002,
Abstract: The pure compound, 6-(-3-methylbut-2-enyl)-6′-7-dihydroxycoumestan (1) isolated from the chloroform extract of the seeds of Psoralea corylifolia Linn. was evaluated for the pesticidal activity against both adults and different instars of Tribolium casteneum Hebrst. under laboratory conditions. The LD50 values for the compound were 910.34, 620.47, 388.45 and 1159.87, 714.88, 404.26 and 1395.70, 740.75, 493.97 and 1605.34, 835.61, 565.83 and 1652.84, 916.79, 729.50 and 1764.32, 994.16, 784.09 and 1678.52, 992.04, 795.67 and 2350.41, 1395.70, 985.12 ppm for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, adult male and female, respectively at 24, 48 and 72 h post exposure. These results demonstrated that the earlier instars were more sensitive to the compound than those of late instars those follow to those of individual adults.

Abstract: The present study was carried out with an objective to synthesis the novel indole derivative from istatin and to evaluate its acute toxicity studies to estimate its safety dose level and evaluate its analgesic activity. The synthesis was carried out following the scheme and all the chemicals were purified according to established method prior to use. The synthesized compound was subjected to estimation of acute toxicity studies on albino rat (swiss model). Analgesic activity was evaluated by hot plate method. The results reveal that the synthesized novel indole derivative contains Indole, Thiazolidone and Isoxazole nucleus and by the probit scale analysis the LD50 of the Novel Indole derivative was found to be 1271 mg/Kg body weight. The results of analgesic activity reveals that the compound possesses significant analgesic activity when compared to standard.
The first synthesis of (±)-3,4-dihydroxy-8,9-methylenedioxypterocarpan, an antitumoral agent and its coumestan derivative

Journal of the Brazilian Chemical Society , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-50532004000600029
Abstract: we report the first synthesis of (±)-3,4-dihydroxy-8,9-methylenedioxypterocarpan, a natural isoflavonoid that shows antitumoral activity. the key step involved the heck reaction between the 7,8-dibenzyloxychromen and the organomercurial derived from sesamol, followed by debenzylation. the heck adduct was also employed in the synthesis of the corresponding coumestan derivative, using ddq as oxidant agent.
Fractional Versions of the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus  [PDF]
Eliana Contharteze Grigoletto, Edmundo Capelas de Oliveira
Applied Mathematics (AM) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/am.2013.47A006
Abstract: The concept of fractional integral in the Riemann-Liouville, Liouville, Weyl and Riesz sense is presented. Some properties involving the particular Riemann-Liouville integral are mentioned. By means of this concept we present the fractional derivatives, specifically, the Riemann-Liouville, Liouville, Caputo, Weyl and Riesz versions are discussed. The so-called fundamental theorem of fractional calculus is presented and discussed in all these different versions.
The pathophysiology of AHF
—New insights from recent studies of novel diuretics and vascular modulating therapies

World Journal of Cardiovascular Diseases (WJCD) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/wjcd.2013.31A020
Abstract: Treatment of chronic congestive heart failure (HF) has improved substantially during the past decades, with the introduction of modulators of the renin angiotensin aldosterone system (RAAS) such as angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) and aldosterone antagonists and the introduction of the lifesaving beta-blockers as well as device therapy. Despite the dramatic improvement in the treatment of chronic HF, no such progress was achieved in the treatment of acute heart failure (AHF). Diuretics that were never rigorously examined in well controlled large prospective randomized studies remain the cornerstone and almost exclusively the only intravenous therapeutic option for AHF and no further effective therapy as introduced in more than 30 years. As a result, the short term morbidity and most importantly mortality of AHF remains extremely high with up to 20% of patients dying in the first months after admission for AHF and an additional 20% being readmitted to the hospital. In the current manuscript we will address the practical concerns regarding established and novel diuretic and vascular modulating therapies in patients with AHF, examine their recommended use and seek to determine a path to developing better and more effective therapies for AHF.

Abstract: If is a polynomial of degree , having all its zeros in |z|≤K, K≥1 , then it was proved by Aziz and Rather [2] that for every real or complex number with |a| ≥K, . In this paper, we sharpen above result for the polynomials p(z) of degree n>3

Abstract: Some views (or propositions) on autobiography andnovel relation are set forth. Each proposition is tried toprove in its context in this article. The aim is to showthat the opinions that there exist opposite views in therelations between autobiography and novel and theseviews are appropriated as they are, are disputatious. Therelation between writer and writing is connection that iscreated by changing every other. So, it is not possible toclassify which one is autobiographical, one not.
An Exploration of Hausa Verbal Art Forms in Shaihu Umar: A Hausa Novel  [PDF]
Chaibou Elhadji Oumarou
Advances in Literary Study (ALS) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/als.2015.31004
This paper explores the Hausa verbal art forms in Shaihu Umar, a novel first published in the Hausa language and then translated into English. The paper mostly focuses on the author’s use of the structures of a Hausa initiation tale as a vehicle for the narrative in the novel. In other words, the paper attempts to investigate how the author uses the structures of Hausa tales for stylistic effects. As a result, the paper tries to identify and analyze what the novel owes to the indigenous Hausa literary tradition as an illustration of the interface between orality and literacy.

Natural Science (NS) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/ns.2015.73016
Abstract: The calpains, calcium-activated neutral proteases, play important roles in calcium-regulated intra-cellular signal transduction cascades. Here we report the isolation and initial characterization of a cDNA encoding a calpain 9, digestive tract specific calpain, from catfish taste epithelium. This calpain 9 (Ip-CAPN9a) shares 61% identity with human calpain 9. Phylogenetic analysis provides evidence that catfish calpain 9 and the related enzymes from Oncorhynchus mykiss, Danio rerio, Xenopus laevis, Mus musculus, Rattus norvegicus and Homo sapiens make up a distinct clade within the tissue-specific calpain family. Northern blot analysis reveals that Ip-CAPN9a is predominantly expressed in barbell and digestive tract, but not expressed in brain. An antibody against the N-terminal segment of Ip-CAPN9a recognizes cells within the taste buds in catfish barbells.

American Journal of Analytical Chemistry (AJAC) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/ajac.2011.22018
Abstract: A highly sensitive fourth derivative spectrophotometric method is presented for the residue analysis of ethylenebis dithiocarbamate fungicide Maneb. The fungicide maneb forms a blue complex with sodium molybdate on heating which is studied spectrophotometrically. The method has been successfully applied to maneb determination in wheat grains and soft drinks with high recoveries. The analytical sensitivity of the present method has been found to be 0.0011 μg/mL.
