Gad Degani
Voice of the Publisher (VP) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/vp.2015.12006
Abstract: This study proposed a method using publication downloads from Research Gate (RG) and Google Scholar (GS)to evaluate scientists based on publications they made in the Faculty of Science, Environment and Community at Tel-Hai Academic College and MIGAL-Galilee Research Institute to the status of full professors in the same field in Israeli research universities. The results show that in evaluating the mean publication downloads from March 15-April 26, 2015 by full professors from Israeli universities and from Tel-Hai Academic College and MIGAL, differences exist between the average of all parameters (number of publications and citations) in the different fields of research, such as organic chemistry, medicine and biochemistry, animal science and the environment. In the different parameters used for evaluating the faculty members and their downloads, the relevance of publications during the period examined might be seen.

Abstract: we have as a goal to analyze different classifications and types of knowledge, wisdom and necessary abilities to the exercise of teaching. the eleven raised studies represent a modest part of the research made in the two last decades. still thus, it was possible, get to four conclusions about them; first, that there is a variety of authors who have intended to command the plurality, composition and heterogeneity of professional knowledge of the professors; secondly, that the classifications and types of abilities elaborated, as a result of these studies, are as plural, diverse and heterogeneous as their object of analysis, what makes impossible a comparison between them; third, the proliferation of classifications and types in place of improving the understanding of knowledge studied by them, it increased their complexity and made them less intelligible; fourth, in spite of being plural, diverse and heterogeneous, the variety of approaches had the same meaning or almost the same for the 11 authors studied.

Robert Joseph Brym,M. Reza Nakhaie
The Canadian Journal of Sociology , 2009,
Abstract: This paper analyzes the results of a unique 2000 study of Canadian academics (n=3,318), providing the first empirical assessment of Burawoy’s intellectual types: professional, critical, policy, and public. After determining the distribution of academic types in the Canadian professoriate as a whole, the paper demonstrates that academic types fall along a left-right continuum; different fields of study contain different distributions of academic types; and public, policy, and critical academics tend to have different sociodemographic and economic characteristics than professional academics. The picture that emerges from the analysis is of a professoriate whose contours substantiate the broad outlines of Burawoy’s typology.
