El proceso de identidad a través de la anécdota, el recuerdo y la memoria.: (En las obras El exilio del tiempo y Do?a Inés contra el olvido de la Escritora Ana Teresa Torres)
Osío,Olga;
Letras , 2007,
Abstract: this research attempts to study the identity process through the anecdote, the remembrance and the memoir in the works of ana teresa torres el exilio del tiempo y do?a inés contra el olvido. throughout the years, it has been noticed, writers with wonderful and lively pens have emerged and made literature a latin-american boom. the so-called post-modernity has involved a new culture and a political strength in latin-american writers of the 80s and 90s. this new culture is founded on the female figure. in this sense, the theme to be developed throughout this documentary research deals with that seldom mentioned world of latin-american literature: the search for identity by means of the anecdote and the memoir.
LOS PSICOANALISTAS, LA GUERRA Y LA MEMORIA
Gonzalo Sánchez,G.;
Análisis Político , 2005,
Abstract: this article is presented as a reflection on the occasion of the launching of issue n° 4 of from freud?s garden magazine dedicated to the subject of "memory, forgetfulness, forgiveness, revenge". the author of the article points out how the psychoanalysts entered in an open dialogue, in this volume in particular, not only with history but with other social sciences not only to scrutinize the past but to decidedly confront the present, the subject of the war and the uncertainties of the postwar. in fact, in the presentation page, the editors point out as context of this thematic number on memory, forgetfulness, forgiveness, revenge the growing worldwide interest on this chain of feelings and the urgency of colombians to approach them in face of the "current negotiations with the paramilitaries". for the author, history as a discipline does not seem so far as psychoanalysis. both develop their own techniques and strategies to make visible what has been made invisible and to reestablish the sense of what has been excluded, suppressed or covered up. thus, history as well as psychoanalysis certainly have a privileged relation with the past. both disciplines occupy themselves of the selection of what is memorable and what must be forgotten on the light of certain conditions or requirements, since we know from "funes el memorioso", that an unlimited memoir leads to confusion and hinders conceptualization.

Autobiografía o memoria? El discurso de la identidad en el caso irlandés
Sara Legazpi Fernández
Oceánide , 2012,
Abstract: There are many autobiographical writings that have appeared throughout history until today, filling pages and pages with personal and private experiences or public ones, related to the world and society around us. This article attempts to clarify the vague barrier existing when using the terms ‘autobiography’ and ‘memoir’ to refer to elements belonging to the autobiographical narrative genre. In order to achieve this goal, it is necessary to differentiate between the purpose and the content we may find in any of the two cases. This will involve an approach to several classics of the genre as well as to the various studies already published about the issue. In the Irish case we find an even more difficult differentiation of the terms ‘autobiography’ and ‘memoir’. However, in autobiographical Irish writings we will always find a rich historic and cultural source giving evidence of the reconstruction and resurrection of the Irish identity during the last centuries.
LOS PSICOANALISTAS, LA GUERRA Y LA MEMORIA The psychoanalists, guerrilla and memory
This article is presented as a reflection on the occasion of the launching of issue N° 4 of From Freud’s Garden magazine dedicated to the subject of "Memory, forgetfulness, forgiveness, revenge". The author of the article points out how the psychoanalysts entered in an open dialogue, in this volume in particular, not only with history but with other social sciences not only to scrutinize the past but to decidedly confront the present, the subject of the war and the uncertainties of the postwar. “I Had To Make A Hero Of Myself”: Leonard Kriegel’s The Long Walk Home As Autopathographical Quest Narrative
Hayley Mitchell Haugen
The Brock Review , 2010,
Abstract: Leonard Kriegel’s autobiographical memoir, The Long Walk Home can be read as an autopathographical quest narrative, or hero’s journey. While the quest-like nature of Kriegel’s memoir grounds his work in the masculine tradition of American literature, and masculine autobiography in particular, Kriegel’s work also performs functions indicative of the historical emergence of the contemporary illness narrative, which Arthur Frank says in The Wounded Storyteller, “reclaims the author’s right to tell what is her own experience, it reclaims a voice over and against the medical voice, and it reclaims a life beyond illness, even if illness is the occasion of writing” (5). As a result of the tensions inherent in “reclaiming” voice, Kriegel’s work functions politically, offering a counter-voice to the dominant discourse of illness and disability in the modern era.
The Narrative Memoir as a Psychoanalytical Strategy for the Research of Social Phenomena  [PDF]
Andréa Máris Campos Guerra, Jacqueline de Oliveira Moreira, Lorena Vianna de Oliveira, Rodrigo Goes e Lima
Psychology (PSYCH) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/psych.2017.88080
Abstract: The definition of the psychoanalytic method as an investigational method of unconscious processes allows for the interrogation of what would be the different possibilities and the listening devices available to psychoanalysis when it aims to research social phenomena. Around this question, the present article intends to explore the main methods of capturing the history of individuals, namely, the biography/autobiography, the testimony and the oral history, in order to identify the convergences and divergences of each one of these methods in relation to the psychoanalytical proposition. Based on such analysis, we endorse the narrative memoir as a genre that resembles the psychoanalytical clinical case construction, inasmuch as it considers the subjective and political dimensions that pervade the unconscious processes, without ignoring the dimension of the real displayed in the points of fiction, fixation and fantasy displayed in the researched stories.
Growing up in Wartime England—A Selection from "The Rachel Chronicles: A Kind of Memoir"
Lilian R. Furst,Anabel Aliaga-Buchenau
Religions , 2012, DOI: 10.3390/rel3040993
Abstract: The following contribution is an excerpt from the unpublished memoirs of Austrian Jewish émigrée, Lilian Renée Furst (1931–2009), a pioneer in the field of comparative literature. This journal issue grew out of an April 2011 conference in her memory, held at the National Humanities Center, on “Jewish emigres and the Shaping of Postwar Culture.” The nexus between her innovative intellectual contributions and her experience as a Jewish émigré reflects one of the conference's central concerns: How, why, and in what fashion did the émigrés' dislocations shape innovative intellectual paths and cosmopolitan visions of Europe and European culture. Born in Austria and educated in England, Furst pursued an intellectual career in the United States, hoping it would allow her to break out of narrow national boundaries. The excerpt of her memoir here illuminates how her life's work as a pioneer in the field of comparative literary studies grew out of her experience with language as a German-speaking refugee in wartime England. Her memoir written in the third person about “Rachel” also reflects her dual identity as Jew and European. Part I by Dr. Anabel Aliaga-Buchenau, the literary executor of the memoir and a former graduate student of Furst, places “The Rachel Chronicles: A Kind of Memoir” in relation to Furst's other autobiographical writing. Part II includes Furst's own introduction to “The Rachel Chronicles,” followed by her chapter on “Growing up in wartime England.” (The whole of her unpublished memoir is available to researchers in the "Personal Papers of Lilian R. Furst," Girton College Archives, Cambridge University (http://janus.lib.cam.ac.uk/db/node.xsp?id=EAD%2FGBR%2F0271%2FGCPP%20Furst)). Part III is a bibliography of Furst's writings.
Das Forschungstagebuch-Projekt: Software und die Kluft zwischen Technologie und sthetik in der qualitativen Forschung The Journal Project: Qualitative Computing and the Technology/Aesthetics Divide in Qualitative Research El proyecto del diario: Computación cualitativa y la brecha tecnológica/estética en la investigación cualitativa

Forum : Qualitative Social Research , 2012,
Abstract: Zu Beginn des 21. URN: http://nbn-resolving.de/urn:nbn:de:0114-fqs1202152 Twenty-first century qualitative research is at a crossroads as it faces the double challenges of new technologies for conducting research and the powerful strand of interest in arts-based research (including memoir and autoethnography). The journal project, a study of eighteen months of my personal journals, aims to demonstrate how this tension can be addressed within qualitative research. In this article, I describe how I combined the use of qualitative data analysis software with humanistic approaches to qualitative research, namely arts-based research and memoir or autoethnography. I identify five stages of visual activity (creating data, organizing data, primary responses, secondary responses, and curation) and describe how the visual components intersected with and supported the work in the qualitative computing software (QSR's NVivo). In today's world, qualitative researchers (like everyone else) are immersed in the opportunities of digitalness and its visual possibilities, and it is critically important that we learn to leverage the potential of these tools for our work.
