Zapata S,Claudia;
Estudios atacame?os , 2004, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-10432004002700008
Abstract: this paper analyzes the presence of atacame?os and aymaras in chile's historical truth and new deal commission, answering questions concerning how these peoples relate to the topic of history and how they resolve the challenge of presenting a historical version of their own. the first part is a synthesis of the chronological relationship between the chilean state and indigenous populations in northern chile. the second part renders the analysis of the documents that were presented in representation of the atacame?os and aymara in this commission, which were elaborated by leaders and members of indigenous organizations along with non-indigenous professionals and intellectuals. our approach is centered on a view of history as a political tool, and in the attempts agents make to position themselves in it, with the tensions and contradictions this effort implies

Martins, Maria Sílvia Cintra;
DELTA: Documenta??o de Estudos em Lingüística Teórica e Aplicada , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-44502007000100002
Abstract: i start the discussion from aristotle's concept of ethos. i explore the notion of ethos as developed by maingueneau (2005) and amossy (2005). whereas such authors apply their theory to the genres inherent in the spheres of politics and publicity, i try to demonstrate how it is possible to visualize the construction of ethos in children's language, as well as in discourse practices of adults with a low level of schooling. i, thus, try to relate the construction of ethos to the construction of social and virtual identities (cf. goffman, 1975, 1996).

Fabrício, Branca Falabella;
DELTA: Documenta??o de Estudos em Lingüística Teórica e Aplicada , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-44502004000200003
Abstract: different studies on the construction of gendered identities in the media have shown that the male-female polarity has been guiding historical narratives, as it differentiates men and women according to biological features. they also problematize the role played by technological developments and marketing practices in the strengthening of explanatory scientific discourses concerning human behavior in the contemporary scenario. in light of this state of affairs, the purpose of the present paper is to map part of the beliefs and logics underlying contemporary media practices, analyzing its participation in the construction of womanhood and hegemonic femininity. the reflection is triggered by an article published in an english newspaper and draws on critical discourse analysis to approach the construction of imaginary subject positions for interlocutors whose voices interact in the focused text.

Pimentel, Thiago Duarte;Carrieri, Alexandre de Pádua;Leite-da-Silva, Alfredo Rodrigues;Abate Júnior, Cláudio Borges;
Cadernos EBAPE.BR , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S1679-39512007000100008
Abstract: the objective of this work, which is based on discourse analysis (da) (fiorin, 1988), is to analyze the identity transformation of feira de arte, artesanato e produtores de variedades de belo horizonte. i/ve analyze a longitudinal period of 36 years that embraces its whole history. i/ve observed the changes involved both in the identity of this event and in its physical and symbolic spatial occupation. based on the documents collected in public city archive of belo horizonte, journals and interviews with the fair managers, we verified the transformation of the fair's identity. in the historical (re)construction of this organization it was possible to observe the existence of what we called an identity transformation which, in its turn, is structured on two subsets: a) the identity formation; and b) identity- cleaving. at least, discourses colleted show us a huge identity transformation: a fair that was created as an artistic and cultural kind of movement, which, with the incorporation of new subjectivities, and the physical and symbolic spatial (re) appropriation, became a space integrated to the logic of "consumption market".

Gestión de identidades en la práctica juridica
Cubells, Jenny
Athenea Digital , 2004,
Abstract: Traditional Psychology characterizes personality as a quality which is both individual (each of us is different from all others) and stable (our personalities are fixed). This article examines the degree to which such a conception of human nature is embedded in the legal community, and the degree to which it informs legal arguments designed to win cases in the courts. Advocates use rhetorical strategies which construct, for the parties they represent, identities appropriate to the case they want to win. In courtroom argumentation, advocates try to establish a causal connection between the personality of the accused and her or his actions.
De la pregunta general a la recollida concreta i, d'aquí, a les conclusions transferibles

Sintagma : Revista de Lingüística , 2006,
Abstract: From the general question to the collection of data, and then on to transferable conclusions. This article reflects upon the way researchers approach the observable facts that are part of the data of a research project that focuses on the relationship between identity and linguistic ideology. More specifically, the aim of the project is to answer the following research question: how do youngsters living in the institutionally bilingual communities of Catalonia and the Basque Country build up their multilingual identities in relation to the discourses of globalisation and nationalism? We will try to show the tensions that surface in any research project when it comes to deciding upon the most suitable methodology, which in the case studied resulted in the adoption of a qualitative approach that combines ethnography, conversational analysis and critical discourse analysis. In the first section we open the methodological reflection by comparing quantitative and qualitative data from the same sociolinguistic context, i.e. the one where the first data set for the project was collected. In section 2 we present the methodology finally chosen for the project from four specific parameters. In the last section we list in detail the data collected for the project and explain how we mean to approach their analysis. (Catalan text).
