STUDY OF DEVELOPING EFFECTIVE SPEECH SCALE ETK L KONU MA L E : B R L EK GEL T RME ALI MASI

Abstract: Language is the most important part of culture. Because of that language is made up of writing and oral expressions, it implies that these expressions should be analyze in detail. In general, the people express theirselves orally in their daily lives. That’s why, oral expression should be made more effective. The goal of the study is to develop a measuring tool that can measure oral ability reliable and valid. The working group of this research has 342 students who get teaching formation education at Selcuk University of Konya City in Turkey. There are 230 female studens and 112 male students in this group. The students were wanted to evaluate the speak of the academic staff who did in previous lecture. Scale items were prepared by doing literatüre survey and getting comments of consultants. 111 items of the scale were reduced to 24 items after doing reliability and validity analyses and getting advices of consultants. In the scale, there are 20 items that can show positive situaitons and 4 items that show negative situations. The negative items of the scale are being pointed reversibly.To prove the validity of the scale, factor analyses that anatomize and confirm. The validity of scale was made by applying Cronbach alpha, Spearman Brown, Gutmann Split-Half Techniques, corrected item correlations and calculating the t-test values which are related with the 27 percent of up-down difference. After these, it was concluded that this scale is safe and valid. Dil, bir toplumun kültürünün en nemli unsurudur. Abstract: Speaking skill should be given special importance within the four language skills as it is an important aspect of communication. Therefore, the English education given should be in favor of developing the students’ speaking skills, considering all of the process; including the materials used as well as the classroom context. Moreover, the evaluation aspect of speaking skill is another important point to consider. European Language Portfolio is a document which puts the standards for this aspect of education and files individual information in terms of their language experience and knowledge. Moreover, it uses the Common European Framework as a criterion for the language competence. The aim of this study is to determine views of students, who enrolled at English preparatory class at the School of Foreign Languages in nonü University, towards their English speaking skill competency. The study was conducted on 150 preparatory school students. Data were collected through a questionnaire prepared considering the Common European Framework. Independent samples t-test and one way ANOVA were used to analyze the data. As a result, it was determined that students’ views towards their English speaking skill did not differ in terms of gender and the high school type variables. Students’ views on their speaking skills differed significantly in terms of taking English as compulsory or willingly. Abstract: The purpose of this study is to develop the speaking anxiety scale that measures teacher candidates’ speaking anxiety. The sample of study is 338 teacher candidates who study in the social and natural sciences. The data of study were collected with speaking anxiety scale consisting of 35 items after a comprehensive literature review. It was made validity and reliability studies on the collected data and it was reached the last form of speaking anxiety scale consisting of 20 items. According to the analysis of data obtained from study, it was understood the scale developed is applicable. SPEAKING TIME, EVENT TIME AND REFERENCE TIME RELATIONSHIPS IN TURKISH TüRK E’DE KONU MA ZAMANI, OLAY ZAMANI VE REFERANS ZAMANI L K LER

Abstract: According to theory of enonciation, language is an activity that an individual performs in “I, now, here” axis. All linguistic productions are take place in “now” whics is determined relative to speaker. Events, facts or instances, which are espressed by language, are in past or future that are positioned relative to speaking time, “now”. An event may happens before speaking time, after speaking time and in speaking time. In addition to speaking and event time concepts, Hans Reichenbach, German philosopher, introduced a concept, called “reference time”. So, various relationships may be specified between speaking time (S), event time (E) and reference time (R) in all languages and these relationships bases on tenses of language in question. In this paper, was examined the relationsships between these three time points by regarding to Turkish tense morphemes. S zceleme kuram na g re dil, bir bireyin “ben, imdi, burada” ekseninde ger ekle tirdi i bir etkinliktir. Bütün dilsel üretimler konu ucuya g re belirlenen bir “ imdi”de ger ekle ir. Dille ifade edilen olay, olgu ya da durumlar da bu “ imdi”ye g re konumlanan bir ge mi te ya da bir gelecekte yer alabilir. Bir olay konu ma zaman ndan nce (ge mi zaman), konu ma zaman ndan sonra (gelecek zaman) ve konu ma zaman nda ( imdi) ger ekle ebilir. Alman filozofu Hans Reichenbach konu ma ve olay zaman kavramlar na ek olarak zellikle birle ik zamanl ekimlerde g rülen “referans zaman ” kavram n geli tirmi tir. Abstract: Y ld rma “mobbing” kavram n n Türk e kar l olarak kullan lmaktad r. Y ld rma, i yerinde bir ya da birka ki i taraf ndan sistematik ve sürekli tekrar eden bir ekilde (en az haftada bir ve en az alt ayl k bir süreci kapsamas ), hedef al nan kurban ki iyi savunmas z ve yard ma muhta bir hale getirici olumsuz davran lar n ger ekle me süreci olarak tan mlanabilir. Belirli bir süreci kapsayan y ld rma davran lar n n benzer kavramlarla kar t r lmamas ve s n rlar n belirleyen parametrelerin do ru tespit edilmesi gerekmektedir. English“Y ld rma” is the Turkish counterpart for “mobbing”, which can be defined as the process of emergence of negative behaviors targeted at a victim leaving him/her defenseless and helpless systematically and continually (i.e. once a week- and for six months at least). As suggested by the definition, not every person can be categorized as a victim of mobbing; and there are some defining conditions required for labeling an action as mobbing. It would be much useful to identify the parameters that establish the framework of mobbing in order to prevent subjective and arbitrary conclusions. Providing explanatory information on mobbing, relation between occurring of mobbing and the management skills of employees has been evaluated by staff and employees. Including 324 staff and 57 manager, total 381 personnel has been participated to the survey. Being a metropolitan municipality personnel, 15.7 % (51 persons) stated they were subjected to mobbing. Abstract: In the field of renewable energy, self-provided research in developing countries is barely present, but most welcomed. The creation of know-how and self-development of technologies should reduce the dependence on industrialized countries for both materials and knowledge. This work presents technological and social issues related to the construction of a low budget solar laboratory in Mozambique. The goal is to demonstrate that scientific level research can be carried out in developing countries by using affordable solutions without sacrificing quality of the results. For this investigation, a solar laboratory was built in 2011 at Universidade Eduardo Mondlane of Maputo. The laboratory enables measurements to evaluate solar thermal and photovoltaic-thermal hybrid collectors. Thanks to the flexibility of the system, students and teaching staff can add/remove equipment and develop customised local research programs. In addition, a course on the principles of solar energy and collector simulation for local students was taught. The needed data acquisition devices usually used in Europe were compared with cheaper and easy-maintenance ones. Calibration and estimation of the uncertainty were successfully performed. Approximately 9% of inaccuracy in the measurement was introduced by the cheaper equipment, but the investment cost was reduced by more than 90%. Other issues, results and future recommendations are shown.
THE DEVELOPMENT OF A PARENTS ATTITUDE SCALE TOWARDS PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASS

Abstract: The objective of this study was to develop a valid and reliable scaling tool to scale attitudes of parents towards participation of their children in physical education class. Positive attitudes of parents towards participation of their children in physical education class is of significant importance in providing children with the habit of doing sports and passing on the sports culture to new generations. Therefore, in consideration with the fact that it is particularly necessary to determine the factors affecting attitudes, a study was carried out to develop and make available “a Parents Attitude Scale concerning Participation of Their Children in Physical Education Class.” 186 parents, namely 107 mothers and 79 fathers, whose children attend 6th, 7th and 8th grades, participated into the study. In the exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis in order to check validity of scale; it was determined that the scale is a 4-factor scale and the number of items was fixed to 21. Item load values are between 0.691-0.804 for Factor I, 0.543-0.768 for Factor II, 0.557-0.806 for Factor III and 0.586-0.801 for Factor IV. In order to test reliability of the scale, Cronbach Alpha reliability and two-halves test correlation (Spearman Brown) coefficients were checked and the said values were found as 0,90 and 0,76 respectively. As a conclusion; it was determined in the outcome of the study of validity and reliability that the scale prepared for scaling attitudes of parents towards participation of their children in physical education class is a practicable scaling tool.

Abstract: The aim of the present study is to develop a new scale to measure the social prestige infemale faculties of Islamic Azad University in Iran. The main research question iswhether we can explore a special structure for Social prestige in female faculties ofIslamic Azad University? By using all of the aspects of Social prestige a primarilyquestionnaire with 85 item was developed and piloted based on a sample of 320 femalefaculties of Islamic azad University in Iran. The scores subjected to factor analysisusing principal component and varimax rotation to verify the factorial composition ofthe instrument.
