—Taking Aba Prefecture as an Example

Ling Pu, Bing Zhao
Open Journal of Social Sciences (JSS) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/jss.2018.611014
Abstract: “Rural Revitalization” strategy of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China is related to the economic development of rural areas in China. As key construction areas, the level of social and economic development in rural areas affects the realization of all-round well-off society in China. As an important Qiang district in China, the local economic development in Qiang district of the Aba Prefecture is restricted by various factors such as the limitation of geographical environment and the influence of climate and hydrological conditions. And the “three rural issues” (agriculture, rural areas and farmers) affects the living standards of the local people. However, due to the regions strong ethnic minority culture, the cultural heritage in the region has a high level value of tourism, history and cultural protection. Excavating history and culture and developing tourism can solve the problem of local economic development to a large extent. This paper mainly analyzes the status quo of the protection of cultural heritage and the development of cultural industry in the Qiang district of Aba prefecture, and on this basis, probes into the development of cultural industry in the region, and proposes the establishment of a protection base, a digital center, the publication of a series of books and the establishment of a special brand of cultural heritage protection mode.
The MACBA and the CCCB. From cultural regeneration to cultural government
Joaquim Rius
DIGITHUM , 2006,
Abstract: Twenty-five years on from the idea to open cultural institutions in Barcelona's Raval district, and ten years since they opened their doors, it is now time to take stock of the MACBA (Barcelona's Museum of Contemporary Art) and the CCCB (Barcelona's Contemporary Culture Centre). Why were two important cultural institutions, the MACBA and the CCCB, opened in the Raval, a district in the old town with serious social problems? How did a vague idea based on traditional models for art museums and multidisciplinary centres become two unique models and points of reference both locally and internationally? The explanation that we have is that it went from a project based on cultural regeneration to models for unique cultural institutions that are the launch pad for what we call cultural government. This article is the result of research into the cultural policy system in Catalonia and the transformation of the Raval district, which has led to the PhD thesis entitled "A new paradigm for cultural policy. The case study of Barcelona" under the supervision of Arturo Rodríguez Morató (UB) and Pierre-Michel Menger (EHESS).

Abstract: they are rare the moments in the history of the politics for the preservation of heritage in brazil in which one can see the dimension of the conflict surrounding the attribution of value to a cultural good have significant repercussion, mobilising various agents. the case of the building luciano costa, in recife, is an example of this kind. in this article we aim to present - through the interpretation of a complex web of discourses and actions - the preservationist polemic surrounding this building, a singular example of architecture, because it has two fa?ades simultaneously, one eclectic and one modern. largely unpublished, the technico-administrative documents of the 5a superintendência regional (5th regional superintendency) and of the departamento de documenta??o (documentation department) of iphan, as well as those of the funda??o do patrim?nio histórico e artístico de pernambuco (foundation for the historical and artistic heritage of pernambuco), of the diretoria de projetos especiais da empresa de urbaniza??o do recife (special projects directory of the urbanisation company of recife) and of the ministério público de pernambuco (public prosecutor of pernambuco), were the main sources targeted.

Rius Uldemollins, Joaquím
Revista Internacional de Sociologia , 2008,
Abstract: Artistic neighborhoods, one of the urban phenomenons most characteristic of the beginning century, are beoming an important object of study in the social sciences. However the analysis is overly centered on their economic impact or the cultural policies that have contributed to their creation. In this article, we propose to center the study of artistic neighborhoods in the urban, social and artistic dynamics that explain their emergence and rationale for their development. In this sense, we show how the Raval is symbollicaly charged, having an important presence of artists and small cultural businesses, makes up the core of emerging, hybrid and multicultural art in Barcelona and in addition counts on the presence of two cultural institutions oriented towards cultural governance.

Abstract: Analysis of eye diseases of patients at Kasungu District Hospital in Malawi was made. Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world and the health system faces a lot challenges in terms of resources. The study was, therefore, done to understand the burden and distribution of eye diseases in this resource-limited setting. A retrospective study was conducted by extracting data from data registers in the outpatient eye department for the period of May 2015 to June 2016. The data of the reported eye diseases analyzed with variables such as patient gender, eye disease type, patient age and times of the year. There was no association between eye diseases and gender nor with times of the year. However, it was noted that the commonest type of eye disease was conjunctivitis. And, there was strong association of some disease type with age, for example, conjunctivitis was common in young age group while cataract was common in the elderly. It was shown in this study that many of the eye diseases endemic in Africa do generally occur in this selected district as well. However, the analysis presents the possibility of reducing the incidences of many diseases by preventive measures and access to health facilities on time.

Theoretical Economics Letters (TEL) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/tel.2018.811160
Abstract: Economic development, which is sought all over, is a long-term increase in national and per capita income for higher consumption and happiness. It may seem lacking in finer things that go under the name of culture. As such, this study sets to examine the cultural dimensions of economic development, with the case study of the fast-developed small nation of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The giant developing India is also drawn upon. The objectives of the exercise are to find out the nature and dynamics of economic development and its cultural dimensions or content and thereupon draw policy implications regarding economic and cultural development. The interesting conclusions that follow from the exercise are that, there are invariable cultural dimensions to economic development and that a cultural sector emerges in the course of economic development. More emphasis needs to be given to culture in development policy and planning, without culture, economic development is not wholesome, as the UAE is amicable of wholesome holistic development.
