Abstract: despite offering a number of advantages as the quality of final product, the technique of in vitro cultivation of plants is still considered expensive due to, among other things, the use of reagents with high purity for the preparation of nutrient media. among the alternatives that can be adopted to reduce the costs associated with the production of seedlings, the replacement of the pa product for those with lower has potential. based on this information, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of molasses of sugar cane on in vitro development of banana cv. ma??. for this purpose, banana plants were inoculated in nutrient media made on the basis of sugarcane molasses, with four different concentrations (brix of 1.5, 3.0, 4.5 and 6.0) and data were compared with those of plants grown on ms medium (control), in a total of five treatments. despite plants have been developed in all treatments, it was observed that for the variables leaf number and fresh biomass, plants cultivated in ms medium (control) had higher performances. however, for the average number of roots, there was no statistical difference between treatments. the sugarcane molasses did not favor the development of banana plants, but can be used for in vitro rooting of these plants.

With the rapid development of automobile ownership and roadway network in China, there is more and more travel demand in the city of Beijing, China. Large commercial areas attract high volumes of traffic, which greatly impacts traffic movement on roadways, producing congestion and safety problems. What is more serious is that existing design of the parking lot, the location of access, layout of driveway, and passage of circulation are not desirable, causing potential conflicts and traffic delays. This paper mainly investigates the impact of the existing design of parking lot and layout of access and driveways at commercial areas around intersection in Beijing. The overall goal of this study is to use access management technologies to find out the measures for commercial area to improve roadway safety and operational efficiency. Some measures of improvements are proposed based on the analysis, including addition of right turn lanes, increase of driveway throat length and incorporation of traffic signs to guide on-site circulation. To accomplish the study objective, a total of 10 commercial areas around intersection were selected and some necessary data were collected at access points including traffic volume of each access and the frontage roadways during peak hours, access type, location, and spacing. The field investigations were conducted for 2 weekends for each area. Meanwhile, the peak hours were 10:00 to 12:00 a.m. on weekends. The data from field investigations show that the number and location of the access is different from place to place. Access driveway is closely located at the signalized intersection mostly. Other problems are also observed based on field investigation such as shortage of the access spacing. The result of this study can be a reference for traffic management on other similar areas in Beijing.

Abstract: The interactions among fine particles are unavoidable in solutions, and the strong particle interactions have a negative impact on mineral separations. How to reduce and prevent the agglomeration of particles is one of the important chal-lenges facing production and research. The interactions of sphalerite and silica particles were studied with variation of calcium ions solutions. Zeta potential measurement and a novel Zeta potential distribution (ZPD) measurement method were used in this paper. The phenomena of mineral coagulation and absorption of flotation reagent were analyzed in solutions of different pH and calcium ion concentration.

Abstract: Urine analysis is one of the most common and useful assay means in clinic for diagnose disease, especially urinary system disease and dry chemistry method is the most convenient, common and low cost about urine analysis. To expediently and efficiently analyze the corresponding relationships between different color data and semi-quantitative results about every urine item with dry chemistry way, in this paper, the design and application of effective software that may be used to collect color data about urine reagent strips are presented. First, we introduce the design procedure of this software. Second, its realization of design is given. Third, several application examples about collecting RGB original data by RS232 interface are shown. Then, RGB original data can be visually displayed by waveforms or curves and the data of cursor position may also be given. From the examples, we could confidently draw a conclusion that it is very convenient and effective to study on the laws of color variation about reagent pieces on reagent strip and it has met our original designed demands.

Abstract: For several years, the need to change and amend the Commercial Code is discussed. There is no doubt that the rules must meet the economic and social requirements of their time. The major changes brought about by the advancement of industry and the economy in the commercial relations of individuals make the implementation of these changes and reforms inevitable, and the goals and purposes that are difficult or unenforceable to achieve with the current regulations should be determined. The issue of amendment to the Commercial Code (approved in 1311 with subsequent amendments) has been raised for many years in our country and during this period, trade has been changing rapidly and has never been waiting for an amendment of the law. As a result, we have witnessed negative phenomena in the country’s economy, due to the strict separation of Commercial Code and other commercial laws from market realities. Finally, the issue of the need to amend the Commercial Code in August 2002 was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers and the Ministry of Commerce was appointed as the chief responsible for the review of Commercial Code. In this regard, the paper intends to propose a basic approach to amending?to?the Commercial Code and its legal gaps.
Nigerian Commercial Banks and Creative Accounting Practices  [PDF]

This study is an empirical investigation on the opinions of experienced staff of commercial banks on creative accounting practices in Nigerian commercial banks. To achieve the objective of this study research questions were raised, hypotheses formulated, and a review of related literature was made. The population of this study is the staff of commercial banks currently operating in Nigeria. Quota sampling technique was adopted for this study. The sample used consisted of the most experienced/senior 42 Managers/Assistant Managers and 42 Accountants/Assistant Accountants drawn from the twenty-one (21) consolidated commercial banks head office branches in Lagos state. The survey method of research design was adopted and the primary data were employed. The major instrument used for generating the primary data was the questionnaire, which was designed in five-response option of Likert-scale and administered on senior branch Managers/Assistant Managers and Accountants/Assistant Accountants of the commercial banks chosen for this study. The data generated for this study were analyzed through mean scores while the stated hypotheses were statistically tested with Z-test. Our findings revealed that, the major reason for creative accounting practices in Nigerian commercial banks is to boost the market value of shares; users of accounting information are adversely affected by this practice of creative accounting; Streamlining accounting principles and rules to reduce diversities of professional judgment in financial reporting will help minimize creative accounting practices. Therefore we recommended among others that creative accounting should be considered as a serious crime and as such accounting bodies, law courts and other regulatory authorities need to adopt strict measure to stop the practice.

Abstract: Motorcycles contribute significantly to the number of automobiles on the roads in Lokoja, Nigeria. This scenario is attributable to pitiable public transport supply and bad roads that are synonymous to the country Nigeria. Motorcycles are the major means of urban mobility in Lokoja due to the fact that the available taxies within the town operate within a designed route only (Felele-Army Barrack and Ganaja-Felele, vice-versa). The situations have led to high increases in the number of motorcycle operators and patronages in Lokoja. To this fact, the paper assessed motorcycle operation as means of urban mobility in Lokoja. The study was conducted using questionnaires and field observation to collect the required data. Data were also collected from the Federal Road Safety Commission and Commercial Motorcycle Association of Nigeria, Lokoja to compliment the data collected from the commercial motorcycle operators and passengers in the study area. The weekly records of movement were sourced from Okada Riders Association in Lokoja. A total of 1125 commercial operators and 4000 commuters were arrived, while 10% of the populations were sampled. Altogether 113 commercial motorcycle operators and 400 passengers were sampled respectively and this amounted to 513 samples. Descriptive statistics such as frequency counts and percentages were employed in the data analysis. Findings revealed that unemployment situation in the state have led many people, particularly the youth, into the commercial motorcycle operation in the city and the ability to provide door-to-door service have made many people patronize commercial motorcycle in the area. On this note, Government should create more job opportunities, introduce the use of three wheel cycles and improve on the operational efficiencies of city taxies which will go a long way in reducing road accidents and thus reducing the influx of commercial motorcycles.

Abstract: The changes in the nonlinear refractive of Bradford reagent caused by its binding to bovine serum albumin (BSA) were investigated in aqueous solutions. The nonlinear refractive index at the wavelength of 514 nm was measured using Z-scan Technique. The presence of BSA shows an increase of the nonlinear refractive index coefficient over Bradford reagent alone. The nonlinear refractive index the BSA was found to be linearly dependent on the concentration of the BSA. The nonlinear values n2 shows extended linearity over wide range of relatively high concentration. This extended linear range can be considered as an advantage over traditional absorption at peak value.
