DNA immunoadsorption for childhood-onset systemic lupus erythematosus  [PDF]

Abstract: We present a retrospective review of DNA immunoadsorption (DNA-IA) therapy on clinical symptoms as well as indicators in pediatric cases with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and follow up the short-term curative effects. 16 SLE cases were treated by DNA-IA for 3 times every other day. We observed the changes on clinical manifestations and immunological indicators, in order to compare the alteration of these indicators including clinical manifestations, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Disease Active Index (SLEDAI) scores, 24 hurinary protein excretion, autoantibodies, serum IgG and complement C3. 13 cases were followed up regularly, within 3 months after DNA-IA therapy, 12 cases of clinical manifestations improved (92.3%). SLEDAI scores in 10 cases decreased from (16.20 ± 12.54) to less than 5 (76.9%), 8 cases of ANA, anti-DNA antibodies were negative (61.5%), 13 cases with IgG level in serum recovered to normal (10.39 ± 4.38) g/L, C3 level rose to normal (1.06 ± 0.23) g/L. 3 to 6 months after IA, clinical manifestations and laboratory examinations in all cases got maximum improved. 9 months after IA, SLEDAI score in 2 cases (15.4%) rose to more than 5, anti-DNA antibody in 2 cases (15.4%) became positive, and 1case (7.7%) with serum C3 decreased again. 2 cases died from multiple organs dysfunction within 3 to 6 months after IA. No serious complications were found during DNA-IA. We recommend that DNA immunoadsorption is a safe and effective therapy for active childhood-onset SLE, which could improve clinical symptoms, eliminate ANA and anti-DNA antibodies. Combining with corticosteroids and immunosuppressive drugs, DNA-IA could significantly reduce the activity of disease and protect vital organs function in the short term.
Modelling of the Automatic Depth Control Electrohydraulic System Using RBF Neural Network and Genetic Algorithm

Abstract: The automatic depth control electrohydraulic system of a certain minesweeping tank is complex nonlinear system, and it is difficult for the linear model obtained by first principle method to represent the intrinsic nonlinear characteristics of such complex system. This paper proposes an approach to construct accurate model of the electrohydraulic system with RBF neural network trained by genetic algorithm-based technique. In order to improve accuracy of the designed model, a genetic algorithm is used to optimize centers of RBF neural network. The maximum distance measure is adopted to determine widths of radial basis functions, and the least square method is utilized to calculate weights of RBF neural network; thus, computational burden of the proposed technique is relieved. The proposed technique is applied to the modelling of the electrohydraulic system, and the results clearly indicate that the obtained RBF neural network can emulate the complex dynamic characteristics of the electrohydraulic system satisfactorily. The comparison results also show that the proposed algorithm performs better than the traditional clustering-based method. 1. Introduction The Automatic Depth Control Electrohydraulic System (ADCES) of a certain minesweeping tank (see Figure 1) is a complex nonlinear electrohydraulic system. The first step in designing a high-performance ADCES controller is to model the ADCES accurately. The traditionally and widely used approaches for modelling of such electrohydraulic system are based on the first principle method; that is, a linear model of the ADCES can be derived according to some physical laws such as the dynamic equation of valve and the force balance equation [1, 2]. However, the ADCES exhibits high nonlinear behaviors which make the linear model obtained by the first principle method inefficient because the linear model cannot accurately describes such nonlinearities of the ADCES as flow/pressure characteristics, fluid compressibility and friction, and so forth [3]. It is highly desirable to develop a precise model of the ADCES which can be used for the following high-performance controller design. Figure 1: Graphical diagram of a certain minesweeping tank. Abstract: 等压微孔过滤法是测定红细胞变形性的重要手段。以往关于红细胞悬浮液等压微孔过滤的理论模型 ,没有考虑对过滤有显著影响并蕴含重要信息的滤膜堵塞现象 ,而且都存在一些问题。在考虑滤膜堵塞的前提下 ,建立了新的理论模型 ,能够从等压微孔过滤的实验结果方便地算出红细胞平均过孔时间τ和堵孔红细胞比例ε两个直观的变形性参数。分析了以往模型中的不当之处并加以纠正 ,得出了与新模型一致的结果。

Abstract: When cash flows and sunk cost of a class of risky projectsboth uncontrollable and stochastic, optimal investment timing for the projectsare modeled with optimal stopping. This approach dose not require assumptionof complete market or no-arbitrage. In terms of the well-known ``highcontact 'principle a candidate solution of the model is obtained by solvinga free boundary problem. The optimality of the candidate solution is proven by optimal stopping theory. So the optimal investmenttiming is given explicitly for the objective of maximizing the expectedtotal discounted net profit. Finally the mean waiting time to optimalinvestment timing is given explicitly.

Abstract: 本文利用地球静止卫星云图配合常规资料对1978年7月一次强热带辐合带上三个扰动发展成台风的过程进行了分析。结果表明,多台风发生时强赤道辐合带往往并不是完整的一条,而是由东西二段辐合带合并而成,它们与南北半球的大型环流有着密切的关系。在三个扰动发展时,对流层上层大洋中部槽的位置偏北、偏西,槽呈东—西走向,在槽中多冷涡活动。台风的初始扰动位于洋中槽南侧。我们还根据每隔三小时一张地球静止卫星云图分析。发现扰动云系发展成台风云系时,低空流入和高空流出分布是不对称的。

Abstract: With satellite data,NCEP reanalysis data,and observation data and so on,weather process,cloud variation,dust transport and subsistence are analysed during those two dust storms happened in March and April 2006,respectively.The influence coming from the first one was just passing by,but the latter one brought severe yellow sand into the whole Beijing.Though the dust process from 16 to 17 April,which was in the early period,was not the strongest in the spring of 2006,it caused a very negative social influence.The analysis indicates that 1) strong dust process was caused by Mongolin cyclone and dust source was from the border between China and Mongo,and western inner Mongolia,and strengthened in northern Hetao region,Ordos plateau and Hunshandake sandland.Dust was transported to Northern China,Bohai sea,and northern Huanghai sea with the help of high-level wind.Satellite remote sensing technique not only can monitor the development of dust process,but also can detect the region covered by dust and estimate the value of subsidence.2) the main reason for that during the dust process from April 16th to 17th,the dust layer covered east part of Northern China,Bohai sea and larger area,is that in the boundary layer middle-scale vortex stopped low-level cold front;cold front clouds were obstacled by the scroll clouds staying over the Japan Sea during moving eastward,so the structure of cold front clouds was twisted and collapsed,therefore,severe dust subsidence occurred over Northern China.
