Color-Tunable Hybrid White Organic Light-Emitting Diodes with Double Interlayers  [PDF]

Abstract:
An efficient color-tunable hybrid white organic light-emitting diode is demonstrated with double interlayers of 2,7-bis(carbazol-9-yl)-9,9-ditoylfluo- rene/2-(diphenylphosphoryl) spiroflu-orene (DMFL-CBP/SPPO1) inserted between blue fluorescent and yellow phosphorescent-emitting layers, and exhibits Commission Internationale de l’Eclairage (CIE1931) ranging from warm white (0.4368, 0.4497) to cool white (0.2781, 0.2896) with driving current density from 0.2 to 40 mA/cm2. The recombination of singlet and the triplet excitons in blue fluores-cent-emitting layer and yellow phosphorescent-emitting layer, respectively, can be modulated by both the thickness of these double interlayers and the applied current densities.
The Risk Measurement of China’s Insurance Fund Investment—Based on VaR Model  [PDF]

Abstract: Since the 19th National Congress of CPC (the Communist Party of China), China has put forward more stringent requirements for the prevention and control of risks in the insurance industry. In order to measure the risk and performance of four main investment types of China’s insurance fund (bank deposit, bond investment, stock investment, fund investment), the paper first introduces the development and present situation of the insurance fund investment in China, and then uses the VaR model to measure the risk of each investment type. Finally, the performance evaluation of each investment type is carried out through the RAROC (Risk Adjusted Return on Capital) method. The result shows that China’s insurance industry still has problems such as asset-liability mismatch, hidden liquidity risk and increased credit risk. Additionally, it also reveals that there is still room for improvement in the investment structure of China’s insurance fund investment. This result not only provides relevant policy suggestions for risk management in China’s insurance industry, but also fills the blank of research in this field in recent years.

Abstract:

Dictionary learning has been applied to face recognition and gets good results. However few works applied dictionary learning in facial expression recognition. This paper investigates the application of K-SVD in facial expression recognition. Since K-SVD focuses on reconstruction and lacks discriminant capability. It has similar classification performance with image pixel values. To address this problem, this paper proposes a Combined Dictionary Scheme, which uses combination of separate dictionaries. This yields better performance than the original single dictionary scheme in terms of both recognition rate and computation complexity.

Clustering Algorithm of Quantum Self-Organization Network  [PDF]

Abstract: To enhance the clustering ability of self-organization network, this paper introduces a quantum inspired self-organization clustering algorithm. First, the clustering samples and the weight values in the competitive layer are mapped to the qubits on the Bloch sphere, and then, the winning node is obtained by computing the spherical distance between sample and weight value. Finally, the weight values of the winning nodes and its neighborhood are updated by rotating them to the sample on the Bloch sphere until the convergence. The clustering results of IRIS sample show that the proposed approach is obviously superior to the classical self-organization network and the K-mean clustering algorithm.
Quantum-Inspired Neural Network with Sequence Input  [PDF]

Abstract: To enhance the approximation and generalization ability of artificial neural network (ANN) by employing the principles of quantum rotation gate and controlled-not gate, a quantum-inspired neuron with sequence input is proposed. In the proposed model, the discrete sequence input is represented by the qubits, which, as the control qubits of the controlled-not gate after being rotated by the quantum rotation gates, control the target qubit for reverse. The model output is described by the probability amplitude of state in the target qubit. Then a quantum-inspired neural network with sequence input (QNNSI) is designed by employing the sequence input-based quantum-inspired neurons to the hidden layer and the classical neurons to the output layer, and a learning algorithm is derived by employing the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm. Simulation results of benchmark problem show that, under a certain condition, the QNNSI is obviously superior to the ANN.
Epigenetic Drugs Can Stimulate Metastasis through Enhanced Expression of the Pro-Metastatic Ezrin Gene

Abstract: Ezrin has been reported to be upregulated in many tumors and to participate in metastatic progression. No study has addressed epigenetic modification in the regulation of Ezrin gene expression, the importance of which is unknown. Here, we report that highly metastatic rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) cells with high levels of Ezrin have elevated acetyl-H3-K9 and tri-methyl-H3-K4 as well as reduced DNA methylation at the Ezrin gene promoter. Conversely, poorly metastatic RMS cells with low levels of Ezrin have reduced acetyl-H3-K9 and elevated methylation. Thus epigenetic covalent modifications to histones within nucleosomes of the Ezrin gene promoter are linked to Ezrin expression, which in fact can be regulated by epigenetic mechanisms. Notably, treatment with histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors or DNA demethylating agents could restore Ezrin expression and stimulate the metastatic potential of poorly metastatic RMS cells characterized by low Ezrin levels. However, the ability of epigenetic drugs to stimulate metastasis in RMS cells was inhibited by expression of an Ezrin-specific shRNA. Our data demonstrate the potential risk associated with clinical application of broadly acting covalent epigenetic modifiers, and highlight the value of combination therapies that include agents specifically targeting potent pro-metastatic genes.
A modern view of the classical Herglotz-Noether theorem

Abstract: In this paper we give a new proof, valid for all dimensions, of the classical Herglotz-Noether theorem that all rotational shear-free and expansion-free flows (rotational Born-rigid flows) in Minkowski spacetime are generated by Killing vector fields (isometric flows). This is aimed as an illustration of a general framework for working with problems that can be described as a structure-preserving submersion, which we will describe in a subsequent paper.
On the General Problem of Structure-Preserving Submersions

Abstract: In this paper we give a general geometrical framework for working with problems that can be described as a structure-preserving submersion defined on a suitable space with a geometrical structure. We give many examples of how to formulate familiar problems arsing from physics in our framework. Then, as an application of this framework we derive the new results of generalisations of the classical Herglotz-Noether theorem to arbitrary dimensions and to all conformally-flat ambient spaces. Possible further directions for research are also discussed.

Abstract: This paper reviews the concepts and assumptions of rigid flow in relativistic fluid mech- anics, particularly the generalisation of the classical Herglotz-Noether theorem, that are relevant to the fluid approximation of the AdS-CFT dual of large rotating black-holes used by Bhattacharyya et al. We then give a brief outline of the recently found proof the generalised theorem.
Degree of arbitrariness directly from moving frames

Abstract: For physical theories, the degree of arbitrariness of a system is of great importance, and is often closely linked to the concept of degree of freedom, and for most systems this number is far from obvious. In this paper we present an easy to apply algorithm for calculating the degree of arbitrariness for large classes of systems formulated in the language of moving frames, by mere manipulation of the indices of the differential invariants. We then give several examples illustrating our procedure, including a derivation of the degree of arbitrariness of solutions of the Einstein equation in arbitrary dimensions, which is vastly simpler than previous calculations, the degree of arbitrariness of gauge theories of arbitrary groups under Yang-Mills type equations, for which until now only specific cases have been calculated by rather messy means, and the degree of arbitrariness of relativistic rigid flow with or without additional constraints, which has not been derived before. Finally we give the proof of our algorithm.
