Abstract: Ian McEwan, together with Martin Amis is now the best-known and controversial contemporary British novelist. McEwan seems to be interested in the relationship between reality and imagina-tion, history and fabrication in the process of writing, which is generally considered as one of the themes related to postmodern metafiction writing. He also adopts the postmodern intertextuality in his writing practice. Those postmodern concerns and strategies confirm his position as a post-modernist.

A mathematic model of Green function is build for two dimension free water surface. The analytic expression of Green function is obtained by introducing a parameter of complex number. The intrinsic properties of Green function are discussed for the special parameter values. The real and imaginary parts of H function are shown in the paper.

Urban or regional disaster bearing capacity mainly depends on the disaster bearing capacity of lifeline systems. In the analysis of disaster bearing capacity evaluation of lifeline system, we should not only investigate the complexity, balance and reliability of network characteristics, but also consider the relation between each subsystem. A new brittleness entropy of city disaster vulnerability associated coupling analysis method is proposed based on the brittleness of complex system theory. Correlation characteristics are reflected and evaluated in the brittle link entropy and the whole lifeline system, and then the vulnerability of city lifeline system can be quantified in flood scenarios. As a result of the coupling analysis and calculation, power system has the greatest effect among other subsystems. Because the key factors and influence of water supply system are uncertainties, the water supply system work or supply should be restored first after the disaster. The results show that the method can provide the basis for the optimization of system management, and control the repair work after disaster and coordination between subsystems.

With the goal of meeting one-to-many negotiation mechanism in the process of inter-basin water transfer, according to features of all interest subjects in analysis of inter-basin water transfer, a one-to-many synchronous bidding negotiation model based on bidding rules of game theory is structured, which analyzes and negotiates the functions, code of conduct and information expression of each subject. In order to optimize overall interests and individual interests, and a series of parameters in the negotiation, the paper propose various rules corresponding to the negotiation model so that the efficiency of each interest subject and fair distribution of negotiation proceeds can be safeguarded in the inter-basin water transfer system.

Abstract: The visible light photocatalytic H2 evolution activities of a series of transition-metal substituted Keggin-structure heteropoly blues K6SiW11O39M(H2O)·nH2O (M = Co, Ni, Cu and Zn) were systematically studied with Pt nanoparticles as co-catalyst. The H2 evolution rates were 150, 98, 65 and 48 μmol h 1g 1 for SiW11Cu, SiW11Ni, SiW11Co and SiW11Zn, respectively, meaning that the order of photocatalytic activity of these heteropoly blues from transition-metal substituted polyoxometalates was: SiW11Cu > SiW11Ni > SiW11Co > SiW11Zn. The catalysts could be efficiently reused for at least 5 cycles.

Abstract: China is being confronted with the great challenge of coordinating the development in central regions and peripheral regions. With the large inflow of international capital, the distribution of foreign investment in China is asymmetric, which leads to the great difference between regions in attracting investment, that is to say, the developed central regions have absolute advantage in utilizing the foreign direct investment, while the underdeveloped peripheral regions are in inferior position. As a typical peripheral region in China, Ganzhou continuously builds up the new advantages in the integrated management of investment environment and has made great achievement. So the successful construction of “ten systems” in Ganzhou can be used as a reference for the economic and social development of other peripheral regions.
The Virtual Land Strategy and Management Innovation of the Sustainable Utilization of Regional Land Resource

Abstract: The sustainable utilization of land resource is the key for the growth of economy and the social development in a regional eco-economic system. In this paper, the author introduces the “virtual land” and the “virtual land strategy” concepts, suggesting a method to calculate the consumption of virtual land, analyzing the characteristics of regional land resource in different management stages from the virtual land strategy angle. In order to deal with the problems emerged in the utilization of land resource, the author proposes relevant countermeasures.
Electrostatic interaction in the presence of dielectric interfaces and polarization-induced like-charge attraction

Abstract: Electrostatic polarization is important in many nano-/micro-scale physical systems such as colloidal suspensions, biopolymers, and nanomaterials assembly. The calculation of polarization potential requires an efficient algorithm for solving 3D Poisson's equation. We have developed a useful image charge method to rapid evaluation of the Green's function of the Poisson's equation in the presence of spherical dielectric discontinuities. This paper presents an extensive study of this method by giving an convergence analysis and developing a coarse-graining algorithm. The use of the coarse graining could reduce the number of image charges to around a dozen, by 1-2 orders of magnitude. We use the algorithm to investigate the interaction force between likely charged spheres in different dielectric environments. We find the size and charge asymmetry leads to an attraction between like charges, in agreement with existing results. Furthermore, we study three-body interaction and find in the presence of an external interface, the interaction force depends on the curvature of the interface, and behavior a non-monotonic electrostatic force.

Abstract: Some terrestrial microorganisms can survive in extremely severe environments, such as high temperature, high salinity, strongly acidic, or strongly alkaline conditions. Elucidation of the adaptive mechanisms of these extremophiles to extreme environments will provide meaningful insights into the evolution and diversity of organisms. Deinococcus radiodurans, a representative radioresistant bacterium, are extremely resistant to ionizing radiation and other DNA-damaging factors. The D37 of D. radiodurans is 7 kGy, for example, while that of Escherichia coli is only 40 Gy. The tolerance of D. radiodurans to radiation is due to high DNA repair rates, high antioxidant activity, specialized cell structures, and uncommon intracellular environments; this bacterium is considered a model organism in the study of DNA damage and repair. This paper summarizes the recent research on the diversity of radioresistant bacteria, including their environments, factors that influence resistance to DNA damage, mechanisms of DNA damage and repair, and central repair genes, which are associated with the repair of double-stranded DNA breaks in Deinococcus radiodurans. The potential applications of this knowledge to life sciences, agriculture, contaminative environmental biorepair, and medicine are also discussed.
Construction of deinococcal bacteria - Escherchia coli shuttle vector and expression of Luciferase gene

Abstract: Abstract: 0bjective] To express Luciferase gene in Escherchia coli through developed Deinococcal bacteria - E. coli shuttle expression vector. Methods]The D. bacteria - E. coli shuttle expression vector pZT17 was constructed based on plasmids of pUE30, pGBM5 and pKatCAT. Then pZT17 with lux+ from Photinus pyralis was used to transform into D. grandis and E.coli. The recombinant strains were induced separately. Results] Based on a small cryptic plasmid from Deinococcus radiopugnans, a shuttle vector between Escherichia coli and deinococcal bacteria was constructed. The plasmid vector could stably aintained in Deinococcus grandis under non-selective conditions. Moreover, it is showed that a luciferase gene was highly expressed both observed in D. grandis and E.coli. Conclusions]The D. bacteria - E. coli shuttle vector was constructed successfully, the developed shuttle vector makes it possible to induce expression of DNA damage and repair gene from Deinococcus species.
