Vegetational ecotype of the Gyirong Basin in Tibet, China and its response in stable carbon isotopes of mammal tooth enamel

Abstract: Carbon isotope analysis of modern herbaceous plants in the Gyirong Basin (Tibet, China) indicates that although C3 plants are dominant, C4 plants rarely comprise of the vegetation in the area at 4000 m above sea level. The C4 plants discovered in the Gyirong Basin areSalsola nepalensis of Chenopodiaceae andPennisetum flaccidum of Gramineae, affirming that C4 plants affected by high solar gain can be distributed at high altitude, which supports the opinion that some C4 plants can exist in areas of high elevation. Carbon isotope analysis of herbivore tooth enamel from the Gyirong Basin indicates that carbon isotopes of structural carbonate in biogenic apatite at high altitude still keep a stable enrichment relationship with those of plants in their diet. Carbon isotopes in tooth enamel are therefore an accurate proxy for vegetation ecotypes and should reflect climatic and environmental features.

Abstract: People rely on spatial-temporal metaphor when they talk and think about abstract temporal concept. The purpose of this study is to further investigate the mechanism of the multi-dimensional spatial-temporal conceptual metaphor in Chinese. Using the spatial cuing paradigm, we examined the cognitive impact of the Chinese vertical and horizontal spatial-temporal metaphor, and explored the dominant dimension between the two metaphors in context. The results showed that the processing of temporal concepts for Chinese speakers involved not only the horizontal spatial-temporal metaphor, but also the vertical spatial-temporal metaphor. The horizontal dimension was the dominant dimension of spatial-temporal metaphor in the processing of temporal concepts in Chinese. The findings demonstrated that representation of time depends on representation of space, supporting the Metaphorical Structuring View.
Relationship of Post-Stroke Aphasic Types with Sex, Age and Stroke Types  [PDF]

Abstract: Aim: To explore what is the relationship of the types of post-stroke aphasia with sex, age and stroke types. Methods: Retrospective analysis was administrated on data of 421 patients with acute stroke. Western battery aphasia was used to measure aphasiac type and aphasia quotient (AQ) score. The patients were divided into three age groups: young, middle-aged and elderly. The stroke types were classified into cerebral infraction (CI) and intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). Results: All subjects were right-handed, which males and females accounted for 69.60% and 30.40%, respectively. There were 116 cases of Broca’s aphasia (85 males), 35 cases of Wernicke’s aphasia (20 males), 15 cases of conductive aphasia (10 males), 63 cases of transcortical motor aphasia (50 males), 11 cases of transcortical sensory aphasia (8 males), 27 cases of transcortical combined aphasia (13 males), 73 cases of anomic aphasia (47 males) and 81 cases of global aphasia (60 males). Male patients (69.60%) have a significantly higher morbidity of aphasia than that of females (30.40%) after stroke (χ2 = 11.57

Abstract: Using the modern time series analysis method, based on the controlled autoregressive moving average(CARMA) innovation model, two new algorithms of steady state Kalman filter gain for stochastic control systems are presented, where the solution of the Riccati equation is avoided. In order to ensure the asymptotic stability of the filter, two formulae of setting initial filtering estimate are given. A simulation example shows the effectiveness of the new algorithms.

Abstract: Using the modern time series analysis method,based on the autoregressive moving average (ARMA)innovation model and white noise estimators,this paper presents two new fixed point Kalman smoothers and two new forward fixed interval Kalman smoothers for linear discrete time invariant stochastic systems.Their advantages are that the solution of the Riccati equation is avoided,and that the algorithms are simple and can be implemented on line.The optimal initial estimate formulas are given in order to ensure the optimality of the proposed smoothers.A simulation example shows their usefulness.

Abstract: Using the modern time series analysis method, a unifying framework of steady state Kalman filtering, smoothing and prediction for singular discrete linear stochastic systems, is presented. A new algorithm of steady state Kalman estimator gain is given, where the solution of the Riccati equation is avoided. In order to ensure the asymptotic stability of the estimator, a formula of setting the initial estimate is given. A simulation example shows the effectiveness of the proposed results.

Abstract: According to China’s panel data between 2002 and 2016, the present thesis first analyzed the overall effects and time effects of urbanization on wage disparity, net operating income disparity, net property income gap, and net transferred income disparity between urban and rural residents, and then analyzed the overall effects and time effects of each income disparity on the total income gap between urban and rural residents. In general, the impact of urbanization on urban-rural income disparity was studied from the perspective of income sources. The results show that urbanization bridges the income gap between urban and rural areas, with an inverted U-shaped structure which increases first and then narrows, from the income sources perspective. So, the targeted and operational policy recommendations are proposed.

Abstract: This paper analyzes the relationship among foreign capital insurance market, FDI and economic growth in China. We use unit root test, least square regression and Granger causality test to examine the relationship with the data over the period 1984-2015. It is found that the development of China’s foreign capital insurance market has not promoted China’s economic growth, FDI has promoted China’s economic growth, and China’s economic growth has generally promoted the development of foreign capital insurance market. The channels of insurance market acting on economic growth are not smooth enough for foreign capital in China, and its action modes may be mainly applicable to China’s domestic insurance market.

Abstract: The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) is an experiment proposed to determine the neutrino mass hierarchy and probe the fundamental properties of neutrino oscillation. The JUNO central detector is a spherical liquid scintillator detector with 20 kton fiducial mass. It is required to achieve a $3\%/\sqrt{E(MeV)}$ energy resolution with very low radioactive background, which is a big challenge to the detector design. In order to ensure the detector performance can meet the physics requirements, reliable detector simulation is necessary to provide useful information for detector design. A simulation study of natural radioactivity backgrounds in the JUNO central detector has been performed to guide the detector design and set requirements to the radiopurity of detector materials.

Abstract: Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is an international organization regarding developing country with emphasis in research. Since 1970's, it has been focusing on the research and practice of land use planning and has made a lot of achievement. China has almost same land use structure, with agricultural land as major. And now China is carrying out reform from plan-oriented economic system to market ~ oriented economic system. So the experience of FAO is a good reference for land use planning in this special stage. Based on proceeding of land use planning in FAO after 1990's , the characteristics of land use planning in 1993, 1995,1997,1999 are put forward respectively. These characteristics display that the goal and content and process is closely relative to national political and economic system, land resource characteristic , social developing stage, tradition, culture and so on. But in summary, there are 5 trends in the future of land use planning in developing country as follows: from coordinating the conflict of different land utilization to coordinating the conflict of different stakeholders; from considering top-down as main process to combination of top-down and top-up; continually paying attention to the consistency and difference of land use planning in different spatial level; and ceaselessly develop land use decision tool serving for planning.
