Abstract:
We investigate the symmetric and anti-symmetric spin-orbit forces (SLS and ALS) of the effective $\Lambda$N interaction derived from a quark cluster model with the instanton-induced interaction (\III), which can reproduce the observed YN cross sections as well as the observed NN scattering data. It is found that coupling to the $\Sigma$N channel enhances $\Lambda$N ALS, and therefore that the cancellation between SLS and ALS in the $\Lambda$N channel becomes more complete. This may be one of the major reasons why the single-particle spin-orbit force of $\Lambda$ in nuclei is weak.

Abstract:
We report a 68-year-old man with a diagnosis of anemia who had a history of extended right hepatectomy for hilar cholangiocarcinoma 20 months previously. The first endoscopic examination revealed a giant peptic ulcer with active bleeding at the posterior wall of the duodenal bulbs, and hemostasis was performed. Endoscopic treatment and transarterial embolization were performed repeatedly because of uncontrollable bleeding from the duodenal ulcer. Nevertheless, he died of sudden massive hematemesis on the 20th hospital day. At autopsy, communication with the main portal vein and duodenal ulcer was observed.It should be borne in mind that the main portal vein is exposed at the front of the hepatoduodenal ligament in cases with previous extrahepatic bile duct resection.The numbers of reported cases of fistula between the portal venous system and adjacent organs has been gradually increasing recently. For instance, fistula has been reported between the portal venous system and the pancreas [1,2], biliary system [3,4], small intestine [5-7], and colon [8,9]. However, fistula between the main portal vein and duodenum is extremely rare, with only three reported cases [5-7]. Herein, we report an extremely rare case of a fistula between the main portal vein and duodenum after resection of extrahepatic bile duct due to hilar cholangiocarcinoma, and we discuss the strategy of duodenal peptic ulcer with massive bleeding.A 68-year-old man with a diagnosis of anemia was admitted to Wakayama Medical University Hospital. He had a history of extended right hepatectomy for hilar cholangiocarcinoma (stage 2) 20 months earlier. On arrival, his blood pressure and pulse rate were 99/54 mm Hg and 101/min, respectively. Initial laboratory studies showed his hematocrit and hemoglobin were 25.8% and 8.2 g/dL. Nasogastric tube lavage revealed a material that looked like coffee grounds. Emergent gastrointestinal endoscopic examination was performed immediately and disclosed a giant peptic ulce

Abstract:
Purpose We retrospectively evaluated the in vitro chemosensitivity of primary site and metastatic site tumors in colorectal cancer. Methods Various resected tumor samples (33 from lymph nodes, 42 from liver, six from lung, and 68 primary tumors) were assessed via a collagen gel droplet-embedded culture drug sensitivity test to determine chemosensitivity to a single agent or a combination of agents. Results Sensitivity to combination chemotherapy was significantly higher than that of monotherapy in the primary site group, lymph node group, and liver group. There was significant difference between chemosensitivity of primary site and that of liver metastasis in each agent (5-FU, p<0.001; SN38, p = 0.045; 5-FU/SN38, p<0.001; OHP, p = 0.037; 5-FU/OHP, p = 0.045). Conclusions Tumors showed greater in vitro chemosensitivity to combination therapy when compared with monotherapy. Further, tumors that had metastasized to the liver were more resistant to chemotherapy when compared with matched primary tumors.

Abstract:
The relationship between charge density wave (CDW) orders and superconductivity in arsenide superconductor SrPt$_2$As$_2$ with $T_c$ = 5.2 K which crystallizes in the CaBe$_2$Ge$_2$-type structure was studied by $^{75}$As nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) measurements up to 520 K, and $^{75}$As nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) and $^{195}$Pt-NMR measurements down to 1.5 K. At high temperature, $^{75}$As-NMR spectrum and nuclear spin relaxation rate ($1/T_1$) have revealed two distinct CDW orders, one realized in the As-Pt-As layer below $T_{\rm CDW}^{\rm As(1)}$ $=$ 410 K and the other in the Pt-As-Pt layer below $T_{\rm CDW}^{\rm As(2)}$ $=$ 255 K. The $1/T_1$ measured by $^{75}$As-NQR shows a clear Hebel-Slichter peak just below $T_c$ and decreases exponentially well below $T_c$. Concomitantly, $^{195}$Pt Knight shift decreases below $T_c$. Our results indicate that superconductivity in SrPt$_2$As$_2$ is in the spin-singlet state with an $s$-wave gap and is robust under the two distinct CDW orders in different layers.

Abstract:
Dielectric rod arrays in a metallic waveguide alter the propagation modes and group velocities of electromagnetic waves. We focus on TE_{10}-to-TE_{20} mode converters and investigate the variation in their behavior with frequency. In this investigation, a mode converter is proposed that passes the TE_{10} mode at frequencies lower than 2f_{c}, and converts the TE_{10} mode into the TE_{40} mode for frequencies higher than 2f_{c}, which is achieved by a combination of TE_{10}-TE20 mode converters.

Short wire pairs are simple
metamaterial structures. This structure includes a dielectric substrate with
metal strips on both sides, of which the electric and magnetic resonant
frequencies can be controlled by adjusting the length of the metallic wires. However, to vary the
magnetic resonant frequency requires a change in the length of the strip and
another patterned photomask. In this investigation, a simple method is
introduced that requires only one patterned photomask by shifting the position
of faced wire pairs up and down.

Abstract:
The Kuhn-Tucker conditions have been used to derive many significant results in economics. However, thus far, their derivation has been a little bit troublesome. The author directly derives the Kuhn-Tucker conditions by applying a corollary of Farkas’s lemma under the Mangasarian-Fromovitz constraint qualification and shows the boundedness of Lagrange multipliers.

Abstract:
Photochemical
reactions of microcystin-LR, a toxic compound produced by some blue green
algae, were investigated. Ultraviolet absorption of microcystin-LR was
assessed. Time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) calculations
indicated that absorption peak at 238 nm was mainly due to excitation of
electrons from the linear chain structure Addaof
microcystin-LR. Irradiation of microcystin-LR with UV light resulted in the
reduction of the 238 nm absorption peak and the appearance of a new peak at 300
nm. Density functional theory (DFT) and TDDFT calculations with a model molecule
suggested that this 300 nm peak was due to tricyclo-Addamicrocystin-LR,
an intermediate in photochemical reactions of microcystin-LR. Analysis of the
rate of this photochemical reaction showed that it was a first order reaction.

Abstract:
In this paper, we consider an almost periodic system which includes a system of the type , where k is a positive integer, a_{ij} are almost periodic in n and satisfy a_{ij}(n)≥0 for i≠j,？ for 1≤j≤m. In the special case where a_{ij}(n) are constant functions, above system is a mathematical model of gas dynamics and was treated by T. Carleman and R. D. Jenks for differential systems. In the main theorem, we show that if the m X m matrix (a_{ij}(n)) is irreducible, then there exists a positive almost periodic solution which is unique and has some stability. Moreover, we can see that this result gives R. D. Jenks’ result for differential model in the case where a_{}ij(n) are constant functions. In Section 3, we consider the linear system with variable cofficients . Even in nonlinear problems, this linear system plays an important role, as their variational equations, and it is requested to determine the uniform asymptotically stability of the zero solution from the information about A(n). In order to obtain the existence of almost periodic solutions of both linear and nonlinear almost periodic discrete systems: above linear system and？ for 1≤i≤m, respectively, we shall consider between certain stability properties, which are referred to as uniformly asymptotically stable, and the diagonal dominance matrix condition.
