Erdem ?zdemir, Yener Oguz
Open Journal of Stomatology (OJST) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ojst.2013.37066
Abstract:

The recent article describes immediate implant placement and loading in the anterior segment. The main aim of this treatment option was to deliver provisional prosthesis to the patient in the same day of surgery, form papilla contours, and eliminate waiting of osseointegration time and the second surgery.

Alzheimer's Disease Patients Generate Late and Reduced Cortical Activity For Movement Preparation
Gorsev YENER,Muslum YILMAZ,Meral OGUZ,Pinar KURT
Journal of Neurological Sciences , 2010,
Abstract: Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a common neurodegenerative disease that affects cognitive functions in the absence of motor signs. However, motor associated functional cortical changes mirror the changes of cognitive network in AD patients. The movement related cortical potentials (MRCP) can be used to investigate the cognitive processes prior to voluntary movement. The neuropsychological deficits that implicate disruption of involving frontal motor network in early AD would also cause alterations in all phases of MRCP. The present study aimed to investigate whether such changes occur in MRCPs of AD patients. Methods: MRCP of twenty-three mild probable AD and twenty healthy, education-, gender- and age-matched control subjects were studied. Results: AD patients differed from healthy control subjects on mini mental state examination (MMSE), both verbal and visual memory, verbal fluency, executive function and visuo-spatial test scores. AD patients showed significant changes in both early and late phases of Bereitshaftspotential (BP) than controls. Diminished amplitude and less preparation time for movement in MRCP recordings along with executive dysfunction were found. Conclusion: These findings seem to reflect the disruption of frontal motor network during movement preparation in AD and may correspond to a loss of motor preplanning caused by deranged neuronal input into supplementary motor area (SMA).

Journal of Neurological Sciences , 2003,
Abstract: In this study, we tested congruent validity of Turkish version of Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) to the KKM (K sa Kognitif Muayene : Short Cognitive Examination) test, the only test that was proved to be valid and reliable in Turkish population. For this purpose, we administered KKM, MMSE, and Reisberg’s Golbal Deterioration Scale on 71 probable Alzheimer’s patients. We found significant correlation between MMSE and KKM across all stages of dementia and all groups of education levels. We concluded that MMSE can be administired to Alzheimer patients as safely as KKM test.
Structural and Electrical Properties of Niobium Doped Y0.6Gd0.4Ba2-xNbxCu3O7-y Superconductors  [PDF]
Mucahit Yilmaz, Oguz Dogan
Materials Sciences and Applications (MSA) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/msa.2011.28147
Abstract: Polycrystalline samples of Y0.6Gd0.4Ba2-xNbxCu3O7-y(YGBNCO) with different Nb contents (x = 0.05, 0.10, 0.15, 0.20, and 0.25) were prepared using the usual solid state reaction technique. The structure for all samples was characterized by XRD and SEM. The electrical properties were measured by the FPP method in the temperature range from 70 to 130 K. The lattice constant of b remains almost unchanged and a and c increases with the increase of Nb content with x ≤ 0.10. The zero resistance transition temperature and Jc decrease with increasing Nb content. But superconductivity did not suppress. As the Nb content in the samples increases, it gives a diffused phase indicating a niobium perovskite phase and it is a small amount of unidentified phase.
Red Blood Cell Mechanical Stability  [PDF]

Engineering (ENG) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/eng.2012.410B003
Abstract: It has been well documented that shear forces effective above a certain magnitude under flow conditions causes damage in blood cells. This damage ranges from slight morphological alteration to the destruction of red blood cells (RBC). The hemolytic trauma to RBC can easily be detected by measuring free hemoglobin level in plasma, however there are no standardized protocols to quantitate subhemolytic trauma. Ektacytometry has been used to study the alterations in RBC mechanical properties induced by the application of shear stress at various levels. Additionally, a protocol for measuring the hemolytic threshold as an indicator of subhemolytic damage to RBC has been developed based on ektacytometry. These standardized protocols may find applications in the pre-clinical and clinical evaluation of artificial organs and biomedical devices contacting with blood.

Beijing Law Review (BLR) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/blr.2018.92013
Abstract: Insurance fraud may be defined as intentional deceit of an insurance company by a beneficiary with goal of earning financial gains before or after issuing of the policy. It may occur in many types. One of the insurance fraud types is self-cutting of the insured for insurance claim. However it sounds unbelievable, it is a fact which is getting more prevalent day by day. In this study it is aimed to provide an overview of the type, scale and impact of insurance fraud in Turkey, and particularly self-cutting for the insurance claim over a case study. Insurance fraud has an impact not only on insurers but also on the insureds. Therefore reducing and deterring the insurance fraud is significant, and it is also aimed to offer the actions to reduce insurance fraud in this study. Insurance fraud has an impact not only on insurance companies but also on the insured. Therefore reducing and deterring the insurance is significant. In this study it is aimed to provide an overview of the type, scale and impact of insurance abuses in Turkey and the UK. It is also aimed to specify the measures and the institutions on fighting against insurance abuse in Turkey and in the UK as well.
Advancement of Algebraic Function Approximation in Eigenvalue Problems of Lossless Metallic Waveguides to Infinite Dimensions, Part II: Transfer of Results in Finite Dimensions to Infinite Dimensions
Namik Yener
PIER , 2006, DOI: 10.2528/PIER05121503
Abstract: In this phase of the attempt to advance finite dimensional algebraic function approximation technique in eigenvalue problems of lossless metallic guides filled with anisotropic and/or inhomogeneous media,to exact analysis in infinite dimensions,it is seen that the problem in infinite dimensions, can be reduced to finite dimensions,b y virtue of a result in perturbation theory. Furthermore,it is found that analysis results of algebraic function approximation, can be adapted to infinite dimensions too,at worst by introduction of some additional arguments.
Algebraic Function Approximation to Eigenvalue Problems in Lossless Metallic Waveguides (Revisited)
Namik Yener
PIER , 2005, DOI: 10.2528/PIER05010801
Abstract: The problem of studying modal characteristics of metallic waveguides filled with lossless inhomogeneous and/or anisotropic media, is one of studying properties of the propagation constant of the guiding structure. It is shown that modal behavior in the neighborhood of critical frequencies such as cutoff frequencies and frequencies marking the onset of complex wave mode intervals, can be modeled through approximation of the propagation constant by a root of an algebraic equation. The particular form of the algebraic function approximating the propagation constant is discussed in the neighborhood of a singularity. A numerical example is included to stress the viability of the technique.
A Simple Solution for the Damped Wave Equation with a Special Class of Boundary Conditions Using the Laplace Transform
Namik Yener
PIER B , 2011, DOI: 10.2528/PIERB11040901
Abstract: It is proven that for the damped wave equation when the Laplace transforms of boundary value functions ψ(0,t) and ( ψ(z,t)/ z) of the solution ψ(z,t) have no essential singularities and no branch points, the solution can be constructed with relative ease. In such a case while computing the inverse Laplace transform, the integrals along the segments on the real line are shown to always cancel. The integrals along the circles C and C' about the point s=-σ/ε determined by the coefficient of the time derivative in the differential equation and point s=0 are shown to vanish unless Laplace transforms of mentioned boundary value functions have poles at these points. If such poles do exist, the problem is nevertheless one of integration along circles about these poles and then setting the radii of these circles equal to zero in the limit.
