STUDIES OF FATIGUE CRACK PROPAGATION AND MICROFRACTUREGRAPHY IN HIGH STRENGTH STEELS

Abstract: The studies were carried out of the test of fatigue crack growth rate and relative to the microscopic morphology of fracture surface in certain high-strength steels. It was found that the results measured by both macro-and microscopic examinations are identical. The fatigue striation of the subcritical crack propagation is quantitatively related to the mean stress. In the same range of stress intensity factors the crack growth rate increases with the mean stress. The fractographic observations of the fatigue crack propagation on specimens of 18CrMn2MoBA steel reveal that the microstructural particle phase constituent with martensite and austenite can be responsible for the reduction of the fatigue crack growth rate.

Abstract:
Agricultural product quality and safety are local and international research hotspots. China was the world’s largest producer of edible fungi, but quality and safety problems restricted the sustainable development of this industry, which is the sixth largest class of agricultural products in China. Consumers have become increasingly concerned with the quality and safety of edible fungi because they can be easily contaminated with heavy metals, chemical pesticide residues, chemical additives, and microbes. This study summarized the safety problems of edible fungi to develop control measures for ensuring their quality and safety.

Abstract:
Auricularia polytricha is a functional food material that contains numerous bioactive health-promoting compounds. This study demonstrates the novel application of A. polytricha powder (APP) in steamed bread production. Moreover, this work aimed to determine the influence of the direct addition of APP on the sensory, textural, physical, and in vitro antioxidant properties of steamed breads. Steamed breads enriched with 5% APP had higher consumer acceptability than those enriched with 2.5%, 5%, 7.5% and 10% APP. In addition, supplementation with APP significantly enhanced the antioxidant activity of steamed breads during digestion in vitro. Our study suggests that A. polytricha is a valuable source of active compounds for steamed wheat breads.

Abstract: The reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) copolymerizations of 2-((8-hydroxyquinolin-5-yl)methoxy)ethyl methacrylate (HQHEMA) with styrene (St) or methyl methacrylate (MMA) were successfully carried out in the presence of 2-cyanoprop-2-yl dithionaphthalenoate (CPDN). The polymerization behaviors showed the typical living natures by the first-order polymerization kinetics, the linear dependence of molecular weights of the polymers on the monomer conversions with the relatively narrow molecular weight distributions , and the successful chain extension experiments. The soluble polymers having tris(8-hydroxyquinoline)aluminum ( ) and bis(8-hydroxyquinoline) znic(II) ( ) side chains were obtained via complexation of the polymers with aluminium isopropoxide or zinc acetate in the presence of monomeric 8-hydroxyquinoline, which had strong fluorescent emission at 520?nm. The obtained polymers were characterized by GPC, NMR, UV-vis, and fluorescent spectra. 1. Introduction In recent years, organic electroluminescence (EL) display devices have attracted more intensive attention as a promising technology for flat panel display [1]. Many emitting materials, including low-weight molecules and polymers, have been designed and utilized in fabricating organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) [2–5]. Among them, metal 8-hydroxyquinoline (Mqn) chelates, especially for tris(8-hydroxyquinoline)aluminum (Alq3), and bis(8-hydroxyquinoline) znic(II) (Znq2) have been extensively investigated for their high stabilities, good emissions, and electron-transporting properties [6–8]. Compared with low-weight 8-hydroxyquinoline (Mqn) chelate, the polymers containing Mqn pendant groups combine the fluorescent property of Mqn and the processability of the polymer [6, 7, 9]. Up to now, two types of Mqn-containing polymers (main-chain type and side-chain type) have been reported. Yamamoto and Yamaquchi reported the synthesis of poly(quinolinol) [10] and poly(aryleneethynylene) [11] containing 8-quinolinol moieties. On the other hand, various side-chain type polymers including poly(arylene ether) [12], copolymers of 7-allyl-, or 7-(2-methylvinyl)-functionalized derivatives of 8-hydroquinoline with styrene [13], functionalized polystyrene [14], and copolymers of methacrylates having 8-hydroxyquinoline moieties were also successfully prepared [15]. Abstract: The effect of C content (0.014 similar to 0.39 wt pet) on the paramagnetic-antiferromagnetic transition and gamma --> epsilon martensitic transformation of Fe-24Mn alloys has been investigated by the resistivity, dilation, tensile properties measurement and microstructure examination. The results have shown that C decreases T-N, increases the thermal expansion coefficients both above and below the Tu, increases the resistivity above the TN and antiferromagnetic scattering resistivity below TN. It strongly depresses the gamma --> epsilon martensitic transformation and reduces the Ms of Fe-24Mn alloys. Moreover, it increases the lattice parameter of austenite, enhances the tensile ductility, but almost does not affect the tensile strength. With increasing C content from 0.014 to 0.19 wt pet, the yield strength of Fe-24Mn alloy decreases obviously arising from the decreasing of preexisting epsilon martensite, but it increases from 0.19 to 0.39 wt pet C due to the solution hardening of C.
Integrative Proteomics and Tissue Microarray Profiling Indicate the Association between Overexpressed Serum Proteins and Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Abstract: Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide. Clinically, the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) can be improved by the early detection and risk screening among population. To meet this need, here we describe the application of extensive peptide level fractionation coupled with label free quantitative proteomics for the discovery of potential serum biomarkers for lung cancer, and the usage of Tissue microarray analysis (TMA) and Multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) assays for the following up validations in the verification phase. Using these state-of-art, currently available clinical proteomic approaches, in the discovery phase we confidently identified 647 serum proteins, and 101 proteins showed a statistically significant association with NSCLC in our 18 discovery samples. This serum proteomic dataset allowed us to discern the differential patterns and abnormal biological processes in the lung cancer blood. Of these proteins, Alpha-1B-glycoprotein (A1BG) and Leucine-rich alpha-2-glycoprotein (LRG1), two plasma glycoproteins with previously unknown function were selected as examples for which TMA and MRM verification were performed in a large sample set consisting about 100 patients. We revealed that A1BG and LRG1 were overexpressed in both the blood level and tumor sections, which can be referred to separate lung cancer patients from healthy cases.
