Open Journal of Modern Linguistics (OJML) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/ojml.2014.45052
Abstract: In view of the important role that language attrition plays in language learning and teaching, this study is designed to probe into Chinese adult EFL learners’ attrition sequence of English interrogations. The participants investigated in this study are 243 Chinese EFL graduates who had graduated for at least two years. The main measurement employed is a questionnaire, with 40 items of English interrogative sentences included. It is detected that the attrition sequence roughly reflects the inversed pattern of acquisition sequence of English interrogations in Chinese context, which echoes with the assumption of Jakobson’s Regression Hypothesis. The findings also shed light on English teaching and learning in China. As Regression Hypothesis suggests that language components might be lost in the reverse order in which they are acquired, learners are expected to timely review acquired language skills prone to attrition. In addition, it is hoped that understanding some of the dynamic processes of language retention and attrition will increase teachers’ and learners’ awareness and ability to make their own personal observations and to help keep EFL learners’ language abilities.
Empirical Study on the Impact of Domestic Economic Cycle on Sichuan’s Tourism  [PDF]

Abstract: This article empirically enquires, from the perspective of demand, the impact of economic cyclical fluctuation on Sichuan tourism. The findings show that Sichuan tourism demand proves elastic to CPI, Sichuan’s GNI capita and interest rate, and that CPI and interest rate fluctuations are negatively correlated with Sichuan domestic tourism demand, while, with which Sichuan’s GNI capita is positively associated. The study also finds that per capita national income and the local consumer price index enjoy strong predictive power for Sichuan tourism.
Winning Consumers through Experience: Competition between Domestic and International Businesses  [PDF]

Abstract: Retail internationalization has received increasing attention due to its popularity as a business practice. Previous studies have focused on two main factors in the process of retail internationalization: resources and environment. In the resources category, one of the key factors that has been extensively studied is social capital [1]. And in the environment category, one of the most influential environmental factors is cultural distance and its consequence, psychic distance [2]. However, few studies have investigated social capital from the consumers’ perspective and considered the influence of psychic distance perceived by international retailers’ targeted consumers in the host market on their acceptance. This study aims to investigate how to decrease consumers’ psychic distance to obtain initial acceptance from the targeted consumers in the host country. Previous studies have found that perception is shaped through experience [3,4]. Therefore, the main argument in our study is that international businesses should focus on experiential marketing to reduce consumers’ psychic distance. In order to understand this argument in the host market competition, experiential marketing strategies in the domestic businesses framework, as well as in the international businesses framework, will be compared.

The Opposition and Integration between Civilization and Nature―Analysis of Wuthering Heights from the Perspective of Eco-Criticism  [PDF]

Advances in Literary Study (ALS) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/als.2014.24022
Abstract: Eco-criticism offers a new perspective for us to study Wuthering Heights. In Wuthering Heights, the place of Wuthering Heights and the residents are the representatives of nature, while the place of Thrushcross Grange and the residents are the spokesmen of civilization. The history of the changing relationship between the human beings and the nature is reflected in the relationships of the main characters in Wuthering Heights. Long ago the human beings lived in awe of the nature and admired it and then they exploited the nature excessively. At last they return to respect the nature and form a harmonious relationship between the human beings and the nature under the guidance of the eco-ethic. With the deterioration of the environment, the relationship between the human beings and the nature reflected in Wuthering Heights drives the modern people to think deeply.
Methane Desorption from Homogeneous Distributed Micro-Pores of Coal  [PDF]

Journal of Applied Mathematics and Physics (JAMP) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/jamp.2015.36077
Abstract: The thermal desorption kinetic mechanism from internal micro-pores of coal is theoretically investigated by Monte Carlo simulations. It is supposed that the molecules are absorbed in the pores and can jump between adjacent ones. The desorption rates of the statistical ensemble average are calculated. The competing effect of the temperature and the adsorptive energy is analyzed. The desorption probabilities indicated that the choice of desorption energy is clear at low temperature, however, there is not clearly different between high temperature.

Abstract: Data dissemination is an important application in vehicular networks. We observe that messages in vehicular networks are usually subject to both time and space constraints, and therefore should be disseminated during a specified duration and within a specific coverage. Since vehicles are moving in and out of a region, dis-semination of a message should be repeated to achieve reliability. However, the reliable dissemination for some messages might be at the cost of unreliable or even no chance of dissemination for other messages, which raises tradeoffs between reliability and fairness. In this paper, we study the scheduling of data dis-semination in vehicular networks with mesh infrastructure. Firstly, we propose performance metrics for both reliability and fairness. Factors on both the time and space dimensions are incorporated in the reliability met-ric and the fairness in both network-wide and Mesh Roadside Unit-wise (MRU-wise) senses are considered in the fairness metric. Secondly, we propose several scheduling algorithms: one reliability-oriented algorithm, one fairness-oriented algorithm and three hybrid schemes. Finally, we perform extensive evaluation work to quantitatively analyze different scheduling algorithms. Our evaluation results show that 1) hybrid schemes outperform reliability-oriented and fairness-oriented algorithms in the sense of overall efficiency and 2) dif-ferent algorithms have quite different characteristics on reliability and fairness.
Reward Strategy in Chinese IT Industry

International Journal of Business and Management , 2010, DOI: 10.5539/ijbm.v5n2p119
Abstract: The essay identifies the reward strategies of Huawei, Haier and Lenovo the three Chinese top IT companies. Although the reward strategies are varied, the evidence gathered supports the essay that reward strategies adopted by the Chinese top IT companies is the reason for their success. In exploring the process of causality, two broad opinions are produced by comparing the reward strategies between different IT companies.
Spatially homogeneous Lifshitz black holes in five dimensional higher derivative gravity

Physics , 2012, DOI: 10.1007/JHEP06(2012)024
Abstract: We consider spatially homogeneous Lifshitz black hole solutions in five dimensional higher derivative gravity theories, which can be possible near horizon geometries of some systems that are interesting in the framework of gauge/gravity duality. We show the solutions belonging to the nine Bianchi classes in the pure R^2 gravity. We find that these black holes have zero entropy at non-zero temperatures and this property is the same as the case of BTZ black holes in new massive gravity at the critical point. In the most general quadratic curvature gravity theories, we find new solutions in Bianchi Type I and Type IX cases.

Abstract: In this paper, a family of reducible cyclic codes over GF(p) whose duals have four zeros is presented, where p is an odd prime. Furthermore, the weight distribution of these cyclic codes is determined.

Open Journal of Social Sciences (JSS) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/jss.2018.68007
Abstract: As a kind of policy tools with strong Chinese characteristics, Mobilized Governance has a deep historical origin. Moreover, it has become the preference of public governors when they faced with internal public issues. This paper based on the case analysis of M city, in which taking a series of policy measures of “Mobilized Governance” in the process of constructing the National Sanitation City (Chuang Wei) to achieve policy objectives, and explores the intrinsic logic why “Mobilized Governance” has become the policy tool selection preference of public governors. And the final conclusion is that the path dependence of political mobilization, the limitation of policy resources, and the structural limitation of bureaucratic system are the reasons for this preference.
