Abstract: two field experiments were performed in 2009 at the experimental station of pastures and forages sancti spiritus, cuba (21° 53' 00" north, 79° 21' 25" west longitude and 40 m) to determine the response of different varieties of cereals to bio-fertilization with bradyrhizobium sp. the preparations of inocula and seed inoculation were made according to preset methodologies for this field of study. the experimental design was through split-plots and 4 replicates per treatment. the fertilized control was applied with nitrogen (15 0 kg n ha-1) and agronomic variables were evaluated. we applied two-factor analysis of variance; the differences betweenmeans were determined by duncan and t-student comparison. in the experiment with triticum, we concluded that, the treatment with the best responses was triticale- inoculated and irm37-inoculated and that, triticum secale exceeded on root dry weight and stem length compared with t. aestivum, which makes this first promising species for drought conditions. in the experiment with zea mays is concluded that, even though air dry weight treatments were best with chemical fertilization, in dry weight of the ear canilla-inoculated treatment showed statistically equal to that of the fertilized treatments, so it's considered a positive response of this variety to bio-fertilization. however, the influence of indigenous rhizosphere bacteria in some of the studied variables is not ruled out.

Abstract: a field trial was conducted in order to determine the response of two sorghum varieties (ciap-2e and sorgo cebada) to chemical fertilization and biological fertilization with rhizobia, as well as the interaction of the studied factors. an isolated strain of centrosema plumieri, belonging to bradyrhizobium sp., was used. the experimental design was divided plots, with three treatments (inoculated, fertilized and absolute control), two sub-treatments (var. ciap-2e and sorgo cebada) and four replications. the fertilized treatment consisted in an application of 150 kg n/ha (urea) 20 days after planting. the factor fertilization type was not observed to influence by itself the experimental results; it rather interacted with the factor variety. inoculated sorgo cebada had a yield of 4,09 t/ha and did not differ from fertilized sorgo cebada (3,52 t/ha) and fertilized ciap-2e (3,12 t/ha). the variety ciap-2e, independently from the fertilization type, turned out to be agronomically promising, for its results in the weight of 1 000 grains (27,3 g). inoculating with the hg2 strain the crops sorgo cebada and ciap-2e is recommended, under similar conditions as the ones in the trial, and conduct further physiological studies on the response of different sorghum genotypes to bacterial inoculation.
The False Problem of the Maintenance of Sex (Review of the Original Approach)  [PDF]
Jose Maria Mancebo Quintana
Applied Mathematics (AM) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/am.2014.519297
Abstract: We analyze here the keys of the original approach about the twofold cost: the return to the asexuality starting with a mutant female, with the same reproductive capacity than a sexual one, and with double genetic-reproductive success. We propose a new approach in which 1) all individuals in a population have regulatory mechanisms of reproductive mode, and when such change occurs, it happens in all its population at the same time; 2) after a change of reproductive mode in the population there can be variations in average offspring per female, according to the environmental quality; and 3) the genetic-reproductive success of the males and its unequal paternity success are accounted for. Results: The most advantageous reproductive strategy depends on the demographic situation of the population and the degree of the unequal paternity success of males. For harem values observed in nature and in populations with moderate growth rate, stable or decreasing population, the sexual strategy is advantageous. If the population growth rate is high, the asexual strategy is advantageous. In species subject to high demographic fluctuations the best strategy depends on the ability to predict the time of occurrence of the population bottleneck: if predictable, the best strategy is the alternation of generations, if not, permanent parthenogenesis.
On Hilbert extensions of Weierstrass' theorem with weights

Journal of Function Spaces and Applications , 2010, DOI: 10.1155/2010/645369
Abstract: In this paper we study the set of ℊ-valued functions which can be approximated by ℊ-valued continuous functions in the norm Lℊ∞(I,w), where I⊂ℝ is a compact interval, ℊ is a separable real Hilbert space and w is a certain ℊ-valued weakly measurable weight. Thus, we obtain a new extension of the celebrated Weierstrass approximation theorem.
Quintana,Laura;
Ideas y Valores , 2006,
Abstract: (from the sentimental unanimity to the discursive interaction: an interpretation on of the standard of taste of david hume) this paper intends to show that in his essay of the standard of taste david hume goes beyond a causal explanation and a universalistic foundation of taste, to suggest a contextual and dialogical conception of consensus in aesthetical matters. thus, in contrast to the majority of interpreters, it would be argued that in this text doesn’t prevail the predominant point of view in the aesthetics theories of the eighteen century but an alternative approach is presented.
Quintana,Carolina;
La zaranda de ideas , 2011,
Abstract: the purpose of this paper is to define the socioeconomic order of the a- group in lower nubia. this group's nature has been discussed by several researchers, who tried to define their socio-economical order based upon the information provided by archeological excavations in the region, but they never reached an agreement. different interpretations are partly the product of diverse definitions about sedentism, nomadism, and other concepts, conceptual models commonly used to explain the socioeconomical character of a-group communities. a problem is that these concepts are loosely applied without being clear what is meant by them and what hard evidence supports these models. for this reason, we consider that defining the concepts such as nomadic pastoralism and sedentarism, mainly focusing on the proposals developed by tom dillehay and anatoly khazanov, is a central point for our investigation. furthermore, the approach of different ethnoarchaeological papers is a fundamental methodological tool, because we obtain outstanding information through them which is very important for the development of our research. finally, considering theoretical and methodological tools, we study the archaeological material of the a- group to postulate that this group could have organized itself as a semi- sedentary community, which exploited diverse ecological niches from the lower nubia.
QUINTANA,LAURA;
Revista de ciencia política (Santiago) , 2009, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-090X2009000100010
Abstract: although arendt never explicitly used the term biopolitics, in her analysis of totalitarianism and in her assessments of modernity a negative notion ofbiopolitics seems to emerge. however, according to agamben, arendt could not detach herself from that negative notion, while esposito considers arednt's concept of life to be limited, thus inhibiting her from thinking through the proper link between politics and life. this essay aims to delve into arendt's notion of life in order to discuss if she could adequately confront negative biopolitics and if she was able to open up the possibility of positive biopolitics, one that accepts the lives of individuals in their singularity.
El ultraísmo espa ol en las revistas de la primera vanguardia belga: poesía y grabado en madera (Amberes-Bruselas, 1920-1922) = Spanish Ultraism in the journals of the first Belgian avant-garde: Poetry and xylography (Antwerp-Brussels, 1920-22)

One of the fundamental characteristics of the historical avant-garde movements is the transnational relationship between their members through the creation of a network of journals working as a distributed feedback polysystem. After an article on the Ultraist presence in Polish magazines, the author continues to analyze the map of the translations of the first Spanish avant-garde in Europe. This article deals with the reception of Ultraism in Brussels and Antwerp in the early '20s, which was preceded by an early relationship between some Catalonian and Belgian avant-garde poets. A later article will deal with the reception of Ultraism in the avant-garde journals in Ghent.
From the Unanimity of Sense to a discursive Interaction: and Interpretation of Hume’s
Laura Quintana
Ideas y Valores , 2006,
Abstract:This paper tries to show that in his essay Of the Standard of Taste David Hume goes beyond a causal explanation and a universalistic foundation for taste, to suggest a contextual and dialogical conception of consensus in aesthetic matters. Vida y política en el pensamiento de Hannah Arendt Politics and Life in Hannah Arendt's Thought
LAURA QUINTANA
Although Arendt never explicitly used the term biopolitics, in her analysis of totalitarianism and in her assessments of modernity a negative notion ofbiopolitics seems to emerge.
