The Qualitative Analysis for a Class Nonlinear Systems with High Degree  [PDF]

Abstract: In the paper, the problems of identification of focus or center for a class of nonlinear systems are studied. As results, the identifying rule for the type of singular point of the system and the calculating formula for the focus value are obtained by the classical theory of Poincare and Lyapunov. At the end, the numerical simulation for a polynomial system of seven-degree are showed to corroborate the theoretical results of the method.
Kaldi+PDNN: Building DNN-based ASR Systems with Kaldi and PDNN

Abstract: The Kaldi toolkit is becoming popular for constructing automated speech recognition (ASR) systems. Meanwhile, in recent years, deep neural networks (DNNs) have shown state-of-the-art performance on various ASR tasks. This document describes our open-source recipes to implement fully-fledged DNN acoustic modeling using Kaldi and PDNN. PDNN is a lightweight deep learning toolkit developed under the Theano environment. Using these recipes, we can build up multiple systems including DNN hybrid systems, convolutional neural network (CNN) systems and bottleneck feature systems. These recipes are directly based on the Kaldi Switchboard 110-hour setup. However, adapting them to new datasets is easy to achieve.
Synthesis, assembly and device of 1-dimentional nanostructures

Abstract: Synthesis and assembly of 1-dimentional (1-D) nanostructures and measurement of their electrical and optical properties are very important in fabrication of nanodevices. Recent developments in this field are summarized in this review. The assembling methods can be divided into two classes: assembly using macroscopic field forces and microfluidic-assisted-template-integration. The former can assemble nanowires by controlling direction and intensity of electric or magnetic field, while the latter represents a general assembly strategy for any kind of 1-D nanostructures. The assembly of 1-D nanostructures will make it possible to fabricate nanosensors, nanolasers and nanoscale logic gate circuits for computation.

On the Motivation and the English Achievement in the Senior Middle School

Abstract: Motivation is one of the important factors that influences English learning achievement. That’s true of the students in the Senior Middle School. In order to improve the students’ English performance, a research by means of a questionnaire and an interview is done in a key Senior School on the motivation in learning English in order to improve the English teaching. The results showed that the motivation has a close relationship with the students’ performance. But the different strength in motivation will lead to different learning efficiency. So to help the students to maintain a proper strength in English learning motivation is very necessary for the teachers in the daily teaching procedure. Finally, some suggestions are available to the teachers.
A Lexicographic Approach to Postdisaster Relief Logistics Planning Considering Fill Rates and Costs under Uncertainty

Abstract: Predicting the occurrences of earthquakes is difficult, but because they often bring huge catastrophes, it is necessary to launch relief logistics campaigns soon after they occur. This paper proposes a stochastic optimization model for post-disaster relief logistics to guide the strategic planning with respect to the locations of temporary facilities, the mobilization levels of relief supplies, and the deployment of transportation assets with uncertainty on demands. In addition, delivery plans for relief supplies and evacuation plans for critical population have been developed for each scenario. Two objectives are featured in the proposed model: maximizing the expected minimal fill rate of affected areas, where the mismatching distribution among correlated relief demands is penalized, and minimizing the expected total cost. An approximate lexicographic approach is here used to transform the bi-objective stochastic programming model into a sequence of single objective stochastic programming models, and scenario-decomposition-based heuristic algorithms are furthermore developed to solve these transformed models. The feasibility of the proposed bi-objective stochastic model has been demonstrated empirically, and the effectiveness of the developed solution algorithms has also been evaluated and compared to that of commercial mixed-integer optimization software. 1. Introduction Earthquakes are a special type of natural disaster that can result in huge catastrophes. The Great Sichuan Earthquake, which occurred on May 12, 2008, in Wenchuan County, Sichuan Province, China, was one such case. It had a recorded magnitude of 8.0 and imposed tremendous suffering on the local residents, causing over 69,000 deaths, 18,000 missing persons cases, 374,000 injuries, and huge loss of property. Although thousands of networked seismograph stations have been installed around the world and although these stations use powerful computers, it is still difficult to predict when and where an earthquake will strike. Therefore, an effective and necessary approach coping with an earthquake disaster is to plan and implement a disaster relief campaign that would reduce the damage right after the earthquake disaster takes place. Emergency logistics plays a vital role in disaster relief campaigns. However, the planning and implementation of relief logistics are challenging, especially when help is needed in mountainous areas, where the transportation infrastructure, such as roads, bridges and railway lines, can suffer severe damage after large earthquakes. On the Implications of Recent Observations of the Inner Knot in the Crab Nebula

Abstract: Recent observations of the Crab Nebula (Rudy et al 2015) have maintained its reputation for high energy astrophysical enlightenment and its use as a testbed for theories of the behaviour of magnetized, relativistic plasma. In particular, new observations of the inner knot located 0.65" SE from the pulsar confirm that it is compact, elongated transversely to the symmetry axis and curved concave towards the pulsar. 60 percent polarization has been measured along the symmetry axis (Moran et al 2013). The knot does not appear to be involved in the gamma ray flares. The new observations both reinforce the interpretation of the knot as dissipation of the pulsar wind at a strong shock and challenge the details of existing models of this process. In particular, it is argued that the compactness, high polarization and curvature are difficult to reconcile with simple relativistic shock models. Alternative possibilities include deflection of the outflow ahead of the shock and spatial variation in which the knot is interpreted as a caustic. Some future observations are proposed and new theoretical investigations are suggested.

A Method for Setting the Artificial Boundary Conditions of Groundwater Model  [PDF]

Numerical simulation technology is nowadays an important means for groundwater issues because of its efficiency and economical advantages. But in case of natural hydrogeological boundaries are not within the interest area, it may be a big trouble to set boundary conditions of the model artificially without enough field investigation information. This paper introduced a method for solving such problem applying field pumping test and recovery test. The method was applied to build an in-situ leaching of uranium model. Results showed that the model boundary conditions can be set satisfactorily, and also the calculated heads matched the observed data well in both two models.

Theoretical Study of Continuous B-Cell Epitopes with Developed BP Neural Network  [PDF]

Abstract: In order to identify continuous B-cell epitopes effectively and to increase the success rate of experimental identification, the modified Back Propagation artificial neural network (BP neural network) was used to predict the continuous B-cell epitopes, and finally the predictive model for the B-cells epitopes was established. Comparing with the other predictive models, the prediction performance of this model is more excellent (AUC = 0.723). For the purpose of verifying the performance of the model, the prediction to the SWISS PROT NUMBER: P08677 was carried on, and the satisfying results were obtained.
