Traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis and treatment of type 2 diabetes in Tianjin urban population

Abstract: Objective: To explore the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) diagnosis and treatment of type 2 diabetes in Tianjin urban population.Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on hospital patients with type 2 diabetes in TCM hospitals of different levels in Tianjin from 2003 to 2007. The multiphasic stratified cluster sampling method was adopted in selecting the target hospital. Finally 3 496 patients were selected as the survey sample. Then the constituent ratios of diabetes in different syndrome types were calculated.Results: In this study, the descending sort proportion of TCM syndrome types of type 2 diabetes in Tianjin urban population was deficiency of both qi and yin, stagnation of phlegm-dampness, exuberant heat due to yin deficiency, deficiency of both yin and yang, and blood stasis and qi stagnation. Most of the diabetes patients with deficiency of both qi and yin, deficiency of both yin and yang, and stagnation of phlegm-dampness were older than 60 years. Most of the diabetes patients with exuberant heat due to yin deficiency were 50 to 59 years old, while the diabetes patients with blood stasis and qi stagnation were 40 to 49 years old. The frequency of Danggui (Angelica sinensis) use was high in the diabetes patients with deficiency of both qi and yin; the frequency of Chenpi (Citrus reticulate Blanco) use was high in the diabetes patients with exuberant heat due to yin deficiency; the frequency of Baishao (Radix Paeoniae Alba) use was high in the diabetes patients with deficiency of both qi and yin; the frequency of Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae) use was high in the diabetes patients with stagnation of phlegm-dampness; and the frequency of Xingren (Semen Armeniacae) use was high in the diabetes patients with blood stasis and qi stagnation.Conclusion: The main syndrome types of diabetes patients in Tianjin urban area are deficiency of both qi and yin, stagnation of phlegm-dampness and exuberant heat due to yin deficiency. And the patients are mainly older than 50 years. The most frequently used herbs are Danggui (Angelica sinensis), Chenpi (Citrus reticulate Blanco), Baishao (Radix Paeoniae Alba), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae) and Xingren (Semen Armeniacae).
Comparing Single-Epoch Virial Black Hole Mass Estimators for Luminous Quasars

Abstract: Single-epoch virial black hole (BH) mass estimators utilizing broad emission lines have been routinely applied to high-redshift quasars to estimate their BH masses. Depending on the redshift, different line estimators (Halpha, Hbeta, MgII, CIV) are often used with optical/near-infrared spectroscopy. Here we use a homogeneous sample of 60 intermediate-redshift (z~1.5-2.2) SDSS quasars with optical and near-infrared spectra covering CIV through Halpha to investigate the consistency between different line estimators. We critically compare restframe UV line estimators (CIV, CIII], and MgII) with optical estimators (Hbeta and Halpha) in terms of correlations between line widths and between continuum/line luminosities, for the high-luminosity regime (L_5100>10^45.4 erg/s) probed by our sample. The continuum luminosities of L_1350 and L_3000, and the broad line luminosities are well correlated with L_5100. We found that the MgII FWHM correlates well with the FWHMs of the Balmer lines, and that the MgII line estimator can be calibrated to yield consistent virial mass estimates with those based on the Hbeta/Halpha estimators, thus extending earlier results on less luminous objects. The CIV FWHM is poorly correlated with the Balmer line FWHMs, and the scatter between the CIV and Hbeta FWHMs consists of an irreducible part (~0.12 dex), and a part that correlates with the blueshift of the CIV centroid relative to that of Hbeta. The CIII] FWHM is found to correlate with the CIV FWHM, and hence is also poorly correlated with the Hbeta FWHM. While the CIV and CIII] lines can be calibrated to yield consistent virial mass estimates as Hbeta on average, the scatter is substantially larger than MgII, and the usage of CIV/CIII] FWHM in the mass estimators does not improve the agreement with the Hbeta estimator. Abstract: With the development of science and technology, more and more cities are confronted with the water pollution of various degrees. The article is devoted to the introduction of a secondary sewage monitoring and management system which can automatically check the content of different components in the sewage discharged by enterprises and supply data reports with the help of probes, SBCs, PCs, etc. The article includes five parts. The first part introduces the research background, main research work and innovations of this system. The second part introduces the system architecture and system process. The third presents the fundamental working principles of SBCs and the relevant algorithms of PCs. The fourth expounds the problems and deficiencies which may exist in the algorithms. And the last part consists of summary and prospect, providing the possible solution to the deficiencies and looking forward to the future direction of research.

Abstract: The detailed glycan structural analysis of glycoprotein is amenable to glycopeptide enrichment. Here, we develop a simple, effective and economical approach to enrich glycopeptides from proteolytically digested peptide mixtures by chromatographic column packed with graphite carbon and activated charcoal (G/A-column). Glycopeptide from ovalbumin was efficiently enriched by homemade G/A-column using liquid chromatography and the structure of glycopeptide was obtained by tandem mass spectrometry using Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry. The results in this study demonstrate that G/A-column can be used to enrich N-glycolpeptides and be benefit for online identification of glycopeptide using LC-MS.

Abstract: 125 μm-breath sensor with high sensitivity and rapid response was prepared by using n-type Si: Au material. Its sensitivity coefficient and time constant were 4 V.sec / L and 38 msec, respec-tively. Its working principle was based on ano- malous resistance effect, which not only increa- sed the sensitivity, but also reduced its time con-stant greatly. Its signal processing system can select the breath signals and work stably. Therefore, the small changes of breath system can be measured and, especially, patient’s breath rate can be monitored at a distance.

An efficient color-tunable hybrid white organic light-emitting diode is demonstrated with double interlayers of 2,7-bis(carbazol-9-yl)-9,9-ditoylfluo- rene/2-(diphenylphosphoryl) spiroflu-orene (DMFL-CBP/SPPO1) inserted between blue fluorescent and yellow phosphorescent-emitting layers, and exhibits Commission Internationale de l’Eclairage (CIE1931) ranging from warm white (0.4368, 0.4497) to cool white (0.2781, 0.2896) with driving current density from 0.2 to 40 mA/cm2. The recombination of singlet and the triplet excitons in blue fluores-cent-emitting layer and yellow phosphorescent-emitting layer, respectively, can be modulated by both the thickness of these double interlayers and the applied current densities.

Abstract: The topology structure of the peer-to-peer overlay network is a critical factor in dominating performance of resource discovery. In the paper, we consider that nodes have their duty or function in the real world, and we take full advantage of the characteristic of unstructured peer-to-peer network. According to these, a duty-oriented hybrid peer-to-peer network based on metadata (DHPM) is proposed.

Abstract: This paper theoretically investigates the effects of crystal field and exchange interaction field on magnetic properties in dysprosium gallium garnet under extreme conditions (low temperatures and high magnetic fields) based on quantum theory. Here, five sets of crystal field parameters are discussed and compared. It demonstrates that, only considering the crystal field effect, the experiments can not be successfully explained. Thus, referring to the molecular field theory, an effective exchange field associated with the Dy--Dy exchange interaction is further taken into account. Under special consideration of crystal field and the exchange interaction field, it obtains an excellent agreement between the theoretical results and experiments, and further confirms that the exchange interaction field between rare-earth ions has great importance to magnetic properties in paramagnetic rare-earth gallium garnets.
