Relationship Research between the Chinese Medicine Constitution and Sub-Health  [PDF]

With further development of the bio-psycho-social medical model, people began to re-examine the knowledge of disease and health. The concept of sub-health has also been proposed in western medicine. Because of the lack of a specific standard, it is difficult to make clinical diagnosis and treatments for sub-health. Chinese medicine constitution theory has been widely accepted in China, and has a set of executable standards. This paper puts forward a new research method that connects the sub-health in western medicine and Chinese medicine constitution theory together. The potential relationships and influences between Chinese medicine constitution theory and sub-health were analyzed and key content and research progress were discussed. The research method in this paper will provide new ideas for sub-health research.

Carbon Nanoparticles for Identifying Lymph Nodes during Surgery in Colorectal Cancer: A Meta-Analysis  [PDF]

Abstract: Aim: To investigative the efficacy of carbon nanoparticles (CNs) to identify the lymph nodes during radical surgery in colorectal cancer. Method: The MEDLINE, EMBASE and Cochrane Library databases were searched electronically to identify the studies that compared the use of CNs (CN group) with control group in patients undergoing colorectal cancer radical surgery (from January 2009 to November 2018). The primary outcome was the number of retrieved central lymph nodes. Results: This meta-analysis identified 2 randomized controlled trials and 5 non-randomized controlled trials. Compared with the control group, the CN group resulted in an average of 7.16 more lymph nodes removed per patient (WMD = 7.16, 95% CI = 3.76 to 10.57, p < 0.01), 7.26 minutes less required for retrieving lymph nodes (WMD = -7.26, 95% CI = -13.43 to -1.09, p = 0.02), and 15.1 ml less blood loss during operation (WMD = -15.11, 95% CI = -23.15 to -7.06, p < 0.01). Although there was no significant difference in the metastatic lymph nodes between the two groups (OR = 1.02, 95% CI = 0.79 to 1.31, p = 0.87), there was 1.45 times more metastatic lymph of the stained nodes in CN group than in the control group (OR = 1.45, 95% CI = 1.13 to 1.85, p < 0.01). In addition, lymph nodes less than 5 mm were detected significantly more in the CN group than in the control group (OR = 2.15, 95% CI = 1.77 to 2.63, p < 0.01). Conclusions: The technique of CNs labeled lymph node staining in curative colorectal carcinoma is easy and effective, which can improve the retrieved number of lymph nodes, especially for nodes < 5 mm. The black stained lymph node indicates higher risk of metastasis. Further high quality RCT is needed to verify these conclusions.
Quantitative & Qualitative Regulation of Peripheral Leukocyte Subsets plus Emotional Hormones by Floor Heating  [PDF]

Abstract: A floor heating system is a traditionary famous in Asian countries, especially in North East of China and Korea. In this report, we intended to clarify the effect of floor hating system for accessing a peripheral leukocyte regulation in winter season by evidence-based manner more than VAS. We set up two different office rooms heat-controlled by floor heating and air-conditioned by ceiling electric heater. Both qualitative and quantitative approaches determine which are better therapeutic effective recipes for this trial. The elements were evaluated by the total number of peripheral leukocyte, granulocyte and lymphocyte ratio and lymphocyte subsets. For 5 days of working in each conditioned room, the volunteers were changed the room after one-week interval for cooling down. Floor heating system regulated total number of peripheral leukocyte. The mode of the action for the high number of the volunteer was down-regulated. On the contrary, in lower numbers it was up-regulated after the trial. The number of leukocyte subsets, granulocyte and lymphocyte were also regulated by dose dependent manner. Emotional hormone, adrenalin, cortisone and nor-adrenaline were down regulated by floor heating but dopamine was up-regulated by this heating system. The reversal results were obtained by the group who worked in the conditioned room by the system heating from ceiling.

Abstract: Two primary defense systems develop in vertebrates, innate and adaptive. However, every individual exposes to the risk of immunodeficiency in daily life with both internal and external stimuli. In this report, we tried to report two different stimuli for regulating the immune system modulate and discussed how we can compare and select each menu by evidence-based manner more than VAS. In a series of investigation, we have assessed the various leukocyte regulating menus such as hot spring hydrotherapy, acupuncture & moxibution, light walking, independent of the western medicine. In this report, we try to compare the regulatory effect of light exercise under the influence of hypothalamus system. Their effects of elements were evaluated by the total number of peripheral leukocyte, its subsets, granulocyte and lymphocyte ratio. The regulative effects were confirmed also by other menu such as hydrotherapy, acupuncture, walking etc. However, by simply comparing the group before with the group after CAM, we cannot catch the real regulatory effect by each menu. So we tried to show the effect by trying to indicate the constitution/condition dependent manner. The effect was not uniform to each individual but it was dependent on each condition/constitution before the start of the exercise. This was one of the main purposes of this report for summarizing that it is important to regulate the number and levels of each factor as ideal value. In other words, the regulation of each factor affected under the hypothalamus system is regulated with each constitution, under the influence of daily circumstances. The mode of regulation was the same in each menu, indicating the higher level was down regular and lower level was up regular. Moreover, each vector of change was reversely correlated to the value of the day before. The other purpose of this study was designed to establish the regulatory effect of this light exercise which is not limited in the number of leukocyte in peripheral. Light exercise for a short duration was expected to influence the immune system in the blood quantitatively. Abstract: The rSNPs for the genes AKT3 (rs4590656), EGLN1 (rs480902), eNOS3 (rs1007311), and VEGFA (rs699947, rs13207311, rs1570360, rs2010963) have been significantly associated with the physiological parameters in high altitude sickness Han or Tibetan Chinese patients at the Qinghai-Tibetan plateau. The alleles of each rSNP have been found to create unique transcriptional factor binding sites for transcription factors that affect the process of hypoxia gene expression in this high altitude hypoxia environment.
Periphyton Biomass Response to Phosphorus Additions in an Aquatic Ecosystem Dominated by Submersed Plants  [PDF]

An experiment was conducted to investigate the response of periphyton biomass to addition of phosphorus (P) in an aquatic ecosystem dominated by submersed plants. Aquatic ecosystems dominated by Hydrilla verticillata (L.f.) Royle and Vallisneria natans (Lour.) Hara were constructed in mesocosm aquaria. Mesocosms were dosed weekly with different P loads (0 μg/L/Week and 100 μg/L/Week) for 17 weeks. Total P (TP), total soluble P (TSP), and soluble reactive P (SRP) concentrations in the waters of mesocosms added with P were significantly higher as opposed to the unenriched control mesocosms. The biomass of the attached periphyton and the cover of floating periphyton remained abundant in P-unenriched control mesocosms throughout the test period with a TP, TSP, and SRP concentration ranging of 0.021 - 0.049 mg/L, 0.004 - 0.024 mg/L, and 0.003 - 0.018 mg/L, respectively. P addition caused the decline of attached periphyton biomass to a low level and loss of floating periphyton. Results indicate that P enrichment in an aquatic ecosystem dominated by submersed plants could reduce attached periphyton biomass and eliminate floating periphyton. The research would be useful to maintain periphyton by reducing excessive P in aquatic ecosystem dominated by submersed plants.

Clinic Appointment Registration System is an important way to see a doctor, and it’s also a preliminary tool for storage and management of clinic medical records. This new system was developed using Visual Studio 2008 and C#.NET as the development environment and tools and Microsoft Access 2003 as the database to store the medical data based on Browse/Server (B/S) model. The system consists of several data operation functions including appointment registration, data management (e.g. addition, deletion and searching), data backup and recovery, etc., thus, achieve key research ob-jectives.

The civil servant exam has become the fiercest examination in China since 1994; more and more people take this examination. Among the candidates, college students have occupied the overwhelming majority who fanatically take part in the civil service exams and choose civil servants as their future career. This paper aims to discuss the reasons behind the civil servants’ fever in China based on the comparison of Chinese and western values in four aspects: cultural, social, familial and personal. Finally, this paper makes an attempt to provide further suggestions to improve the unbalanced situation of the source allocation in China.

Abstract: 针对粉煤灰、铁尾矿2种不同特性工业废渣对烧结海泥多孔砖试样泛霜程度的影响进行了初步实验研究和分析。实验结果和分析表明,粉煤灰和铁尾矿分别等质量取代5%,10%,15%和20%海泥时,各配比原料土中可溶性硫酸根离子的质量浓度随粉煤灰和铁尾矿掺量的增加而减低,但粉煤灰的降低幅度远低于铁尾矿的降低幅度;经950℃烧结砖样中可溶性硫酸根离子的质量浓度均随粉煤灰和铁尾矿掺量增加而降低,对于粉煤灰来说该降低幅度几乎接近,对于铁尾矿来说则随铁尾矿增加而明显减小,且均远低于掺粉煤灰砖样。与粉煤灰相比,铁尾矿减轻烧结海泥多孔砖泛霜程度的有利因素更多。
Modeling of Car-Following Required Safe Distance Based on Molecular Dynamics

Abstract: In car-following procedure, some distances are reserved between the vehicles, through which drivers can avoid collisions with vehicles before and after them in the same lane and keep a reasonable clearance with lateral vehicles. This paper investigates characters of vehicle operating safety in car following state based on required safe distance. To tackle this problem, we probe into required safe distance and car-following model using molecular dynamics, covering longitudinal and lateral safe distance. The model was developed and implemented to describe the relationship between longitudinal safe distance and lateral safe distance under the condition where the leader keeps uniform deceleration. The results obtained herein are deemed valuable for car-following theory and microscopic traffic simulation. 1. Introduction Car-following models elaborate the situation that vehicles follow one another in the same lane and capture drivers’ maneuvering decisions under different conditions. The models are the most fundamental part of microscopic traffic simulation [1]. From the research of Reuschel and Pipes using the operational research theory method on car-following, the models can be classified as stimulus-response models (Gazis et al., 1961; Newell, 1961), safe distance models (Gipps, 1981), psychophysical models (Wiedemann, 1974), and artificial intelligence models (Kikuchi and Chakroborty, 1992; Wu et al., 2000) [2–6]. Among them, the car-following model based on the safe distance has broadly been used in practice [7]. Parker put forward an expectation distance model for the first time through the research on car-following behavior on the fast road sections [8]. Peter Hides carried out further research on microscopic behavior of urban traffic flow and preliminarily established car-following models for urban traffic flow based on expectation distance [9]. Zhang et al. gave deep research on psychological and physical reaction mechanism of the driver and presented multiregime model based on the driver's psychological reaction [10]. At present, the car-following model based on safe distance has been widely applied to microscopic simulation of road traffic, which is one of the hot research topics in the field of traffic engineering [11, 12]. Reaction time for a car-following maneuver responding to an unexpected hazard in the roadway has been conducted in several studies [13–18].
