On Minimizing the Standard Error of the Slope in Simple Linear Regression  [PDF]
Steven M. Crunk, Xinh Huynh
Open Journal of Statistics (OJS) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/ojs.2014.43016
Abstract:

A common homework problem in texts covering calculus-based simple linear regression is to find a set of values of the independent variable which minimize the standard error of the estimated slope. All discussions the authors have heard regarding this problem, as well as all texts with which the authors of this paper are familiar and which include this problem, provide no solution, a partial solution, or an outline of a solution without theoretical proof and the provided solution is incorrect. Going back to first principles we provide the complete correct solution to this problem.

Student-based Collaborative Network for Delivering Information of Natural Disasters and Climate Adaptation
Chien Huynh,Phuong Huynh
Computer Science , 2013,
Abstract: The student generation nowadays is considered as the Net Generation who grow up in the age of Internet and mobile technology and prefer bringing technological application into their life. The Learning Resource Center, an academic information center, takes the initiative in developing a collaborative network with the participation of students for delivering information of natural disasters and climate adaptation to the people who live in the vulnerable areas of Thua Thien Hue province. The network is aimed at helping local people mitigating vulnerabilities and adapting to the globally climate change for a better life.
An Empirical Assessment of Public Policy Communications in Central Region of Vietnam  [PDF]
Huynh Quy, Thai Thanh Ha
Modern Economy (ME) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/me.2018.912128
Abstract:
Communication is the object of policy, as witnessed in the efforts by government and non-government agencies to inform and educate various publics about problems in society. Effective public policy communications are an important tool to help achieve the policy’s objectives. It is imperative that transparency and proactive public policy communications continue to be the anchors of the current working agenda in most of developing countries’ government. The public policy communications in Central Region of Vietnam have been characterized by unpredictable patterns of policy adoption, the geographical distance, and the economic disparity as compared to the capital city of Hanoi. To fill in this academic gap, this paper identified the factors that consist of the public policy communication on the basis of literature review. The conceptual framework was developed and revised in order to lay the theoretical grounds. Based on this, questionnaire was developed for data collection in major locations in Central Vietnam. Multivariate data analysis techniques such as Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and multiple regressions were used to gauge the impacts of possible factors on the public policy communication as perceived from citizen-level perspective in Central Vietnam. Recommendations and implications were drawn to strengthen public policy communication strategies in Central region of Vietnam.
Welcome to Systems — A New Interdisciplinary Open Access Journal for Systems Science and Engineering
Thomas Huynh
Systems , 2013, DOI: 10.3390/systems1010001
Abstract: Natural and human-made systems abound around us. Our solar system, the human body, the food chain, and ecosystems are some examples of natural systems. Some human-made systems are transportation systems, weapon systems, computer systems, software systems, satellite communications systems, ships, missile defense systems, health care systems, the internet, financial systems, and regional economies. Understanding of natural systems is essential to the survival of the human species, which is intertwined with the survival of other species on earth. Having the knowledge and ability to build human-made systems is critical to the employment of systems that effectively serve the needs of their users. To gain such understanding and to acquire such knowledge and ability, it is necessary that cutting-edge research in systems science, systems engineering, and systems-related fields continue. This open access journal aims to achieve quick and global dissemination of results of such research. [...]
Extremal Problems for Subset Divisors
Tony Huynh
Mathematics , 2013,
Abstract: Let $A$ be a set of $n$ positive integers. We say that a subset $B$ of $A$ is a divisor of $A$, if the sum of the elements in $B$ divides the sum of the elements in $A$. We are interested in the following extremal problem. For each $n$, what is the maximum number of divisors a set of $n$ positive integers can have? We determine this function exactly for all values of $n$. Moreover, for each $n$ we characterize all sets that achieve the maximum. We also prove results for the $k$-subset analogue of our problem. For this variant, we determine the function exactly in the special case that $n=2k$. We also characterize all sets that achieve this bound when $n=2k$.
The genus Unixenus Jones, 1944 (Diplopoda, Penicillata, Polyxenida) in Australia
Megan Short,Cuong Huynh
ZooKeys , 2011, DOI: 10.3897/zookeys.156.2168
Abstract: The penicillate genus Unixenus Jones, 1944 is widespread, with species found in Africa, Madagascar, India and Australia. Each of the two Australian species was originally described from single samples from Western Australia. In this study, collections of Penicillata from museums in all states of Australia were examined to provide further details of the two described species, to revise the diagnoses for both the genus and the species, and to better understand the distribution of the two species in Australia. In addition, two new species Unixenus karajinensis sp. n. and Unixenus corticolus sp. n. are described.

ZooKeys , 2013, DOI: 10.3897/zookeys.278.4765
Abstract: Unixenus carnarvonensis sp. n., U. corringlensis sp. n., U. barrabaensis sp. n. and U. myallensis sp. n. are described from Australia. A revised diagnosis of U. karajinensis and new details on the distribution of the species are given. A key is presented to 10 of all 11 currently known species of the genus.

Partner orbits and action differences on compact factors of the hyperbolic plane. II: Higher-order encounters
Hien Minh Huynh
Physics , 2015,
Abstract: Physicists have argued that periodic orbit bunching leads to universal spectral fluctuations for chaotic quantum systems. To establish a more detailed mathematical understanding of this fact, it is first necessary to look more closely at the classical side of the problem and determine orbit pairs consisting of orbits which have similar actions. We specialize to the geodesic flow on compact factors of the hyperbolic plane as a classical chaotic system. The companion paper [14] proved the existence of a unique periodic partner orbit for a given periodic orbit with a small-angle self-crossing in configuration space that is a 2-encounter and derived an estimate for the action difference of the orbit pair. In this paper, we provide an inductive argument to deal with higher-order encounters: we prove that a given periodic orbit including an $L$-parallel encounter has $(L-1)!-1$ partner orbits; we construct partner orbits and give estimates for the action differences between orbit pairs.
