Solution of Stochastic Quadratic Programming with Imperfect Probability Distribution Using Nelder-Mead Simplex Method  [PDF]

Abstract: Stochastic quadratic programming with recourse is one of the most important topics in the field of optimization. It is usually assumed that the probability distribution of random variables has complete information, but only part of the information can be obtained in practical situation. In this paper, we propose a stochastic quadratic programming with imperfect probability distribution based on the linear partial information (LPI) theory. A direct optimizing algorithm based on Nelder-Mead simplex method is proposed for solving the problem. Finally, a numerical example is given to demonstrate the efficiency of the algorithm.
Elastoplastic Large Deformation Using Meshless Integral Method  [PDF]

Abstract:

In this paper, the meshless integral method based on the regularized boundary integral equation [1] has been extended to analyze the large deformation of elastoplastic materials. The updated Lagrangian governing integral equation is obtained from the weak form of elastoplasticity based on Green-Naghdi’s theory over a local sub-domain, and the moving least-squares approximation is used for meshless function approximation. Green-Naghdi’s theory starts with the additive decomposition of the Green-Lagrange strain into elastic and plastic parts and considers aJ2elastoplastic constitutive law that relates the Green-Lagrange strain to the second Piola-Kirchhoff stress. A simple, generalized collocation method is proposed to enforce essential boundary conditions straightforwardly and accurately, while natural boundary conditions are incorporated in the system governing equations and require no special handling. The solution algorithm for large deformation analysis is discussed in detail. Numerical examples show that meshless integral method with large deformation is accurate and robust.

On Schauder Equivalence Relations

Abstract: In this paper, we study Schauder equivalence relations, which are Borel equivalence relations generated by Banach spaces with basic sequences. We prove that the set of equivalence relations generated by basic sequences has boundaries. Then we show that equivalence relations generated by the basis in Tsirelson spaces has similar properties of Tsirelson spaces in the Banach space theory. In particular, we prove that both l_p and c_0 are not reducible to the equivalence relation generated by Tsirelson space T with the unit vector basis \{t_n\}. We also show that Borel equivalence relation generated by \alpha-Tsirelson spaces are mutually incompatible. Based on this argument, we show that any basis of Schauder equivalence relations must be of cardinal 2^\omega.

Abstract: Klebsiella pneumoniae is a facultative anaerobic gram-negative, non-motile, capsulated, gas-producing rod found widely in nature and often associated with urinary and respiratory infections in humans. Orbital cellulitis with abscess formation caused by K. pneumoniae is rare. Here, we present a case of K. pneumonia-inducing orbital cellulitis with abscess formation in a patient who had undergone an orbital wall fracture prosthesis with hydroxyapatite implantation due to orbital trauma 9 years ago. The patient was treated successfully with antibiotics and surgery.

Abstract: The title compound, C11H12N2O6, crystallizes with two independent molecules in the asymmetric unit, which differ slightly in conformation. The dihedral angle between the amide O=C—N plane and the attached benzene ring is 19.5 (3)° in one molecule and 23.4 (3)° in the other. In the crystal, the two independent molecules are connected alternately by N—H...O hydrogen bonds, forming a chain along the a axis.

Abstract: At present, most lane line detection methods are aimed at simple road surface. There is still no good solution for the situation that the lane line contains arrow, text and other signs. The edge left by markers such as arrow and text will interfere with the detection of lane lines. In view of the situation of arrow mark and text mark interference between lane lines, the paper proposes a new processing algorithm. The algorithm consists of four parts, Gaussian blur, image graying processing, DLD-threshold (Dark-Light-Dark-threshold) algorithm, correlation filter edge extraction and Hough transform. Among them, the DLD-threshold algorithm and related filters are mainly used to remove the identification interference between lane lines. The test results on the Caltech Lanes dataset are given at the end of the article. The result of verification of this algorithm showed a max recognition rate of 97.2%.

Abstract: China is playing a more and more important role in the global development, which makes it much urgent to study and learn how to spread a more favorable Chinese image to the world. This thesis applies method of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) and mathematic statistics to analyze addresses of Xi Jinping. The first part gave a brief introduction on the research background and theory of CDA. Secondly, it elaborated the statistics collection of Xi Jinping’s speech and categorized by its theme and analyzed foreign sayings, Chinese idioms and stories quoted in his speeches. Thirdly, it discussed modalities in English versions of Xi Jinping’s speeches by model verbs, tense and imperative tone. Fourthly, the paper gives examples on how transformation was made through nominalization and passivization. Fifthly, it illustrated how China’s image was spread to the world from three aspects. Lastly, the paper summarized and concluded that there is potential and space to build a positive and friendly Chinese image and improve international communication capacities and influences in the future.
