A Derivative-Free Optimization Algorithm Using Sparse Grid Integration  [PDF]

Abstract:

We present a new derivative-free optimization algorithm based on the sparse grid numerical integration. The algorithm applies to a smooth nonlinear objective function where calculating its gradient is impossible and evaluating its value is also very expensive. The new algorithm has: 1) a unique starting point strategy; 2) an effective global search heuristic; and 3) consistent local convergence. These are achieved through a uniform use of sparse grid numerical integration. Numerical experiment result indicates that the algorithm is accurate and efficient, and benchmarks favourably against several state-of-art derivative free algorithms.

Abstract: A novel motor learning method is present based on the cooperation of the cerebellum and basal ganglia for the behavior learning of agent. The motor learning method derives from the principle of CNS and operant learning mechanism and it depends on the interactions between the basal ganglia and cerebellum. The whole learning system is composed of evaluation mechanism, action selection mechanism, tropism mechanism. The learning signals come from not only the Inferior Olive but also the Substantia Nigra in the beginning. The speed of learning is increased as well as the failure time is reduced with the cerebellum as a supervisor. Convergence can be guaranteed in the sense of entropy. With the proposed motor learning method, a motor learning system for the self-balancing two-wheeled robot has been built using the RBF neural networks as the actor and evaluation function approximator. The simulation experiments showed that the proposed motor learning system achieved a better learning effect, so the motor learning based on the coordination of cerebellum and basal ganglia is effective.
The Reaction Sequence and Dielectric Properties of BaAl2Ti5O14 Ceramics  [PDF]

Abstract: To investigate the correct reaction sequence of BaO-Al2O3-5TiO2 system, powders calcined at different temperatures are analyzed by x-ray diffraction. The results show that the source phase BaCO3 decomposes below 800°C, TiO2 and Al2O3 start to consume at 900 and 1100°C, respectively. BaTi4O9 phase appears at 1000°C while BaAl2Ti5O14 phase starts to reveal at 1200°C. As the temperature increases, the density, dielectric constant and quality factor of the BaAl2Ti5O14 ceramic increase and keep unchanged at 1350°C. The dielectric properties of BaAl2Ti5O14 ceramic sintered at 1350°C for 3h are: εr=35.8, Q×f=5130GHz, τf=-6.8ppm/°C.

Abstract:

This paper aims at the theoretical analysis to the impact of government supervision and consumer purchasing behavior on food quality security, so as to look for safety strategies and measures to strengthen and improve the level of food safety in China. Reputation mechanism is introduced and Bayesian approach is based on, in which government supervision as well as consumer purchasing behavior is taken as crucial factors to impact on the food quality security. As to the proposed quantitative indicators, government supervision includes exposure rate, fine and etc.; at the same time, consumer purchasing behavior includes consumer’s WTP for security food and consumer expectations to food safety. Taking China’s dairy industry as an example, it makes simulation by Netlog. The results show that consumer purchasing behavior alone has little effect on the dairy companies’ decision-making to be honest or counterfeiting enterprises. However, combination government supervision with purchasing behavior has great impact, and plays very good effects on food safety.

On-line NNAC for a Balancing Two-Wheeled Robot Using Feedback-Error-Learning on the Neurophysiological Mechanism

Abstract: A biomimic control structure is designed based on the sensorimotor system and the central nervous system of human brain. The main control center is focus on the cerebellar cortex functioning in supervised training. And then a method based on cerebellar model with feedback-error-learning on the neurophysiological mechanism was proposed to control a balancing two-wheeled robot which is a bionic self-balancing plant imitating human body. The cerebellar cortex as a forward controller was an on-line neural network adaptive controller and reflected the cerebellar function in balancing control problem. From the simulation including balancing control experiment, disturb experiment and mass changed experiment, we can see that the robot can be balanced in fixed position well by the biomimic control structure, and get a better result comparing the traditional feedback control.

Abstract: This paper proposes texture extraction and mapping methods from image of 3D building, 3D building in image can be reconstructed based on plane, through the correct input image?We propose a new method to eliminate distorted Distortion, in order to correct the texture image and estimate textures color by compensating for light color. This method avoids the middle of the process of 3D measurement. We proposed a texture mapping strategy based surface particle, a better solution to the shooting-related problems such as uneven lighting, high light and block light. We proved that the method can get enough quality through experiments, while the intensity of the image with different methods shows the efficiency correction.

Abstract: To solve the mapping problem for the mobile robots in the unknown environment, a dynamic growing self-organizing map with growing-threshold tuning automatically algorithm (DGSOMGT) based on Self-organizing Map is proposed. It introduces a value of spread factor to describe the changing process of the growing threshold dynamically. The method realizes the network structure growing by training through mobile robot movement constantly in the unknown environment. The proposed algorithm is based on self-organizing map and can adjust the growing-threshold value by the number of network neurons increasing. It avoids tuning the parameters repeatedly by human. The experimental results show that the proposed method detects the complex environment quickly, effectively and correctly. The robot can realize environment mapping automatically. Compared with the other methods the proposed mapping strategy has better topological properties and time property.
