Abstract:

The growing ubiquity of Wi-Fi networks combined with the integration of low-cost Wi-Fi chipsets in all devices makes Wi-Fi as the wireless technology the most used for accessing to internet [1]. This means that the development of a Wi-Fi strategy has become an imperative for almost all operators worldwide. In this context, APs (Access Points) have to become as secure as cellular networks. Furthermore, authentication process between a mobile device and an access point has to be automated, without user constraining configuration. For reaching this purpose, client must have different credentials depending on authentication method. Our goal is to create an architecture that is both ergonomic and flexible in order to meet the need for connection and client mobility. We use NFC technology as a radio channel for starting communication with the network. The communication initiation will instantiate a virtual Wi-Fi AP and distribute all policies and access certificates for an authentication based on EAP-TLS (it could be extended to any EAP method for 802.1X standard). The end result of our new topology is to allow access to services through a virtual Wi-Fi AP with an enterprise-grade in a public hotspot.

Mobile Detecting Robot Controlled by Smartphone Based on iOS  [PDF]

Abstract: The proposed scheme is composed of a smartphone, a vehicle equipped with Wi-Fi module and an IPCam working as a detecting robot to explore the unknown environment. Besides, another vehicle equipped with Wi-Fi module is also developed as a trunk robot to extend the detecting range. On the other hand, these vehicles are designed to be driven by the smartphone based on iOS (an iPod Touch in the experiments) via Wi-Fi module along with some proper designs of control circuit mounted on the vehicles. By the audio-visual feedback signals from IPCam, the real-time scenario from the detecting area not only can be shown on the screen of the smartphone but also provides the information of the detected environment in order to guide the robot. Two control approaches were provided in the proposed control scheme, the touch-panel control and the smartphone-status control, to drive the vehicles with the help of visual feedback on the screen of the smartphone. Moreover, the trajectories of the robots were also recorded for further applications. Some experimental results are given to validate the satisfactory performance of the proposed control scheme.

Abstract: In this paper, we propose using ZigBee for Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). Most of the accidents these days are caused because of drivers not knowing the upcoming traffic hurdles like curves, traffic signals, railway lines and etc. If drivers come to know about the upcoming signals, curves, and railways lines etc the accidents can be avoided. The aim is to provide drivers with intelligent roads so that they can receive the information about the curves and the traffic signals ahead. After receiving the information about the signals ahead, drivers will be careful; this will help avoid the road accidents. Many researches are taking place in the world in the field of ITS and many useful systems are also built but no system is built using this remarkable ZigBee technology. ZigBee is low cost as compared to other short range wireless technologies which will help reduce the total cost of the system, enabling this system to be deployed in developing countries as well.

Abstract: In recent years, researches of disseminating wireless network have been conducted for areas without network infrastructure such as disaster situation or military disputes. However, conventional method was to provide a communication infrastructure by floating large aircraft as UAV or hot-air balloon in the high air. Therefore, it was difficult to utilize previous method because it requires a lot of time and cost. But it is possible to save money and time by using a drone which is already used in many areas as a small UAV. In this paper, we design a drone that can provide wireless infrastructure using high speed Wi-Fi. After reaching the target area, the drone can provide Wi-Fi using wireless mesh network and transmit the situation of local area through attached camera. And the transmitted videos can be monitored in the control center or cell phone through application in real time. The proposed scheme provides wireless communication of up to 160 Mbps in a coverage of about 200 m and video transmission with a coverage of about 120 m, respectively.

Abstract: There have been various navigation and tracking systems being developed with the help of technologies like GPS, GSM, Bluetooth, IR, Wi-Fi and Radar. Outdoor positioning systems have been deployed quite successfully using GPS but positioning systems for indoor environments still do not have widespread deployment due to various reasons. Most of these use only a single technology for positioning but using more than one in cooperation with each other is always advantageous for obtaining greater accuracy. Particularly, the ones which use Bluetooth are better since they would enhance the scalability of such a system because of the fact that this technology is in use by the common people so it would always be easy to track them. Moreover it would also reduce the hardware installation cost to some extent. The systemthat has been introduced here uses bluetooth primarily for positioning and tracking in combination with Wi-Fi access points. The reason that makes the commercial application of such a system easier and cheaper is that most of the localized areas today like college campus, offices are being provided withinternet connectivity using these access points.
A Compact Microstrip Patch Antenna with Triangular Snipped Slot for Wireless Applications

Abstract: A compact microstrip patch antenna with a slot fed by coaxial probe is presented in this paper. The slot which is circular in shape with triangular truncations results three narrow bands. The patch is designed on FR4 substrate of thickness 1.6 mm and relative permittivity of 4.4. The size of the proposed antenna is 35mm x 45mm x 1.6mm. Return loss comparison is done for different feed locations. The proposed antenna is suitable for WiMax, Wi-Fi and WLAN applications. The simulations are carried out using Finite Element Method based Ansfot High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS).
