Acta Scientiarum : Health Sciences , 2011,
In this study, we estimated the frequency of intestinal parasites in 383 children in the Pinto Madeira neighborhood of Crato-Ceará State. A survey was conducted covering households with 4- to 12-year-old children, including interviews and coprological surveys using the Kato-Katz and Faust methods. An association was identified between intestinal parasitosis and sanitation, forms of use and availability of water. The prevalence of Ascaris lumbricoides and Entamoeba sp was demonstrated. The data also showed that the prevalence of helminths and protozoa was significantly higher for 4- to 5-year-old boys and6- to 7-year-old girls, children of mothers with less education, living in households with poor conditions of water supply, hygiene and sanitation. These results suggest that investments in sanitary structure and the adoption of policies to improve family education could help significantly in reducing the prevalence of intestinal parasites in children.

Modern Research in Catalysis (MRC) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/mrc.2014.32007
Abstract:

ZSM-22 was synthesized using various sources of silica, organic template 1,6-diaminohexane, under hydrothermal conditions, with and without agitation during crystallization. Subsequently, the crystallized material was used as seeds to accelerate the crystallization process. Characterization of the ZSM-22 samples was performed by XRD, ATG/DTG and FT-IR. It was found that it is possible to synthesize ZSM-22 employing colloidal silica and pyrolytic silica as silicon sources only if the system is stirred during crystallization. The crystallization time for these systems was 13 hours, longer times of crystallization do not significantly increase the crystallinity of the sample. The addition of seeds significantly accelerates the crystallization of ZSM-22, reducing the crystallization time to only 7 hours, with stirring and with systems employing colloidal silica.

Abstract: this study is intended to test the bi-dimensional model - preparation's strokes (gp) and winner's strokes (gd) - evaluated through the tennis player technical inventory (ittt-12), set up strokes (gp) and put away strokes (gd), through demanding metric principles of the confirmatory factorial analysis. participated on this study 432 young brazilian tennis players of both sexes and ages between 13 to 16 years old. the results of the confirmatory factorial analyses (gfi = 0.882; agfi= 0.865; x2 /gl = 1.44; rms = 0.061) had allowed to conclude that the tested model confirmed the existence of two dimensions (gp and gd). the results of the study of the internal consistency, for the bias of the calculation alpha de cronbach (the 0.81 for both dimensions), had assured the precision of the tested model. new studies must verify other metric properties of this instrument (predictive validity, test-retest reliability, among others), as well as to test the evolution of technical training of tennis players.

This article shows how secularization changes the juvenile views of the world concerning "belonging" and "religious crisis" in youths. This research aims at identifying the "characteristics" of juvenile "Christian ethics" and "religious crisis" in the current culture of subjectivity. The methodology followed consists in thematic readings and a mixed questionnaire (25 questions) applied to 120 youths (14-23 years old) from the low income social class of Recife (PE), Brazil, studying at Liceu Nóbrega and Presidente Kennedy schools. Juvenile Christian ethics reunites the pleasures of life, sexuality, and new knowledge (evolution) with God and His religion (the Church), without so much guilt as it used to happen in the past.

Abstract: background and objectives: severe hypoxemia is complication frequently seen in the immediate postoperative period of myocardial revascularization (mr), increasing the duration of mechanical ventilation, the incidence of pulmonary infections, hospital costs, and mortality. the objective of this study was to identify predictive factors of severe hypoxemia in patients undergoing mr. methods: four-hundred and eighty-one adult patients undergoing elective mr between october 2003 and march 2004 were enrolled in this study. severe hypoxemia was defined as pao2/fio2 < 150 upon admission to the icu. the chi-square test, student's t or wilcoxon test, followed by multivariate analysis and logistic regression (lr) for parameters with p < 0.25 in the univariate analysis, were used for the statistical analysis. a p > 0.2 was required to exclude the parameter from the lr model, and a p < 0.1 was considered significant. results: time for extubation was greater in patients with severe hypoxemia (p < 0.001). multivariate analysis identified age (p = 0.081), weight (p = 0.001), need of prolonged cbp (p = 0.033), and left ventricular dysfunction (p = 0.082) as independent predictors of severe hypoxemia. conclusions: older and overweighted patients, those with left ventricular dysfunction, and those who needed cpb presented an increased risk of severe hypoxemia after mr. in those patients, the use of perioperative ventilatory strategies, with elevated positive expiratory pressures and alveolar recruitment maneuver should be considered to prevent postoperative pulmonary dysfunction.
