Causes of and Remedies for Chinglish in Chinese College Students’ Writings  [PDF]

Abstract: Based on Interlanguage Theory and other theories, this study examines data from samples of Chinese college students’ writings and interviews with the students to explore the causes of and remedies for Chinglish (a term used to refer English with Chinese characteristics). It claims that Chinglish is mainly caused by syntactic transfer from Chinese, the influence of Chinese thought patterns, inadequate exposure to authentic English and insufficient practice in English writing. The interviews with the students showed that the proportion of L1 thinking decreased with the writer’s L2 development. The recommended remedies for Chinglish include raising students’ awareness of distinctions between English and Chinese, increasing their exposure to authentic English and practice in English writing, and adjusting their thought patterns.
Photocatalytic Degradation of Organic Dye Methyl Orange with Phosphotungstic Acid  [PDF]

Abstract: Silicotungstic acid and phosphotungstic acid were prepared and characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The results showed that the prepared catalysts possess classical Keggin structure. The factors on the degradation of methyl orange, such as the kind of catalyst, the amount of catalyst, the original concentration of dye and illumination time were investigated under metal halide lamp. The degradation of methyl orange is up to 93.6% with phosphotungstic acid at the best reaction conditions at 8.89 g/L concentration of phosphotungstic acid, 5.56 mg/L concentration of methyl orange and 80 min illumination time.

Abstract: A novel method to prepare ceramic coatings has been developed by making use of plasma energy produced from the pulsed discharge between electric conductor and aqueous electrolyte. A ZrO2-8%Y2O3, coating was obtained by this method, which had excellent adhesion with substrate, smooth surface and good resistance to high temperature oxidation.
Volume Conjecture, Regulator and SL_2(C)-Character Variety of a Knot

Abstract: In this paper, by using the regulator map of Beilinson-Deligne, we show that the quantization condition posed by Gukov is true for the SL_2(\mathbb{C}) character variety of the hyperbolic knot in S^3. Furthermore, we prove that the corresponding \mathbb{C}^{*}-valued 1-form is a secondary characteristic class (Chern-Simons) arising from the vanishing first Chern class of the flat line bundle over the smooth part of the character variety, where the flat line bundle is the pullback of the universal Heisenberg line bundle over \mathbb{C}^{*}\times \mathbb{C}^{*}. The second part of the paper is to define an algebro-geometric invariant of 3-manifolds resulting from the Dehn surgery along a hyperbolic knot complement in $S^3$. We establish a Casson type invariant for these 3-manifolds. In the last section, we explicitly calculate the character variety of the figure-eight knot and discuss some applications.
$SL_2(\mathbb{C})$-Character Variety of a Hyperbolic Link and Regulator

Abstract: In this paper, we study the $SL_2(\mathbb{C})$ character variety of a hyperbolic link in $S^3$. We analyze a special smooth projective variety $Y^h$ arising from some 1-dimensional irreducible slices on the character variety. We prove that a natural symbol obtained from these 1-dimensional slices is a torsion in $K_2({\mathbb C}(Y^h))$. By using the regulator map from $K_2$ to the corresponding Deligne cohomology, we get some variation formulae on some Zariski open subset of $Y^h$. From this we give some discussions on a possible parametrized volume conjecture for both hyperbolic links and knots.

Abstract: In this paper, we define a new algebro-geometric invariant of 3-manifolds resulting from the Dehn surgery along a hyperbolic knot complement in S^3. We establish a Casson type invariant for these 3-manifolds. In the last section, we explicitly calculate the character variety of the figure-eight knot and discuss some applications, as well as the computation of our new invariants for some 3-manifolds resulting from the Dehn surgery along the figure-eight knot.
The equivalent classical metrics on the Cartan-Hartogs Domains

Abstract: In this paper we study the complete invariant metrics on Cartan-Hartogs domains which are the special types of Hua domains. Firstly, we introduce a class of new complete invariant metrics on these domains, and prove that these metrics are equivalent to the Bergman metric. Secondly, the Ricci curvatures under these new metrics are bounded from above and below by the negative constants. Thirdly, we estimate the holomorphic sectional curvatures of the new metrics, we prove that the holomorphic sectional curvatures are bounded from above and below by the negative constants. Finally, by using these new metrics and Yau's Schwarz lemma we prove that the Bergman metric is equivalent to the Einstein-K\"ahler metric. That means the Yau's conjecture is true on Cartan-Hartogs domain.
Investigation of TCM Constitution in 138 Patients with Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC)  [PDF]

Abstract:
Objective: To analyze the distribution and characteristics of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Constitution in patients with primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC). Methods: Divide the PBC patients who met the inclusion criteria into 3 groups according to the stage of disease development, including group A (group of basic normal), group B (group of symptom stage) and group C (group of de-compensation stage). Each group collected 46 cases, and every patient done investgations, including blood routine examination, live function test, image ultrasound examination, autoantibody examination and immuno-globulin test, and counted their clinical symptoms and judged all patients’ constitution of TCM. Results: 1) For 138 patients with PBC, the constitution of TCM is characterized by biased constitution, among which constitution of qi stagnation (19.57%) was the most, followed by constitution of qi asthenia (15.94%), constitution of yin asthenia (15.94%) and constitution of damp-heat (14.49%). There was no significant correlation between the type of constitution and the age of onset (P > 0.05). 2) The constitution types of A and B two groups were mainly constitution of qi stagnation, constitution of qi asthenia and constitution of damp-heat, while group C was mainly composed of constitution of blood stasis, constitution of yin asthenia and constitution of yang asthenia. And there was a correlation between the type of constitution and clinical stage (P < 0.05). 3) The highest positive rate of autoantibodies was constitution of qi stagnation, followed by constitution of damp-heat, constitution of qi asthenia and constitution of yin asthenia. The most abnormal liver function and immunoglobulin were constitution of qi stagnation, followed by constitution of qi asthenia, constitution of yin asthenia, constitution of damp-heat. Conclusion: Constitution of qi stagnation, constitution of qi asthenia, constitution of damp-heat and constitution of yin asthenia are the susceptible constitutions of PBC patients.

Abstract:

In order to evaluate the safe and stable operation of distribution network with the distributed photovoltaic (PV), the?security of distribution network is researched. On the basis of electricity supply security, voltage quality and network losses,?the index system of static security is established. The paper simulates the uncertainty and random characteristics of PV by OpenDSS. The typical scenes that PV accessed to the distribution network are designed.?The paper summarizes the results of voltage fluctuation and network losses and uses indices to quantify it under different scenes. Based on the index system, the paper proposes some recommendations on PV permeability, interconnected locations, dispersion degrees and power factors when the distributed PV accessed to the distribution network.
