Variable structure position control of an industrial robotic manipulator

Abstract: the use of a robust position controller for a robotic manipulator moving in free space is presented. the aim is to implement in practice a controller that is robust to uncertainties in the model of the system, as well as being inexpensive from a computational point of view. variable structure theory provides the technique for the design of such controller. the design steps are presented, first from a theoretical perspective and then applied to the control of a two degree-of-freedom manipulator. simulation results that backed the implementation are presented, followed by the experiments conducted and the results that were obtained. the conclusion is that variable structure control is readily applicable to industrial robots for the robust control of positions.

Abstract: In this paper, we study an approach to environmental topics, through multicriteria partial cooperative games. In general, not all players wish to cooperate to solve a common problem, so we consider a model where only some decision-makers cooperate. Starting from the transformation of a coalition game into a strategic one, we give a new concept of solution for partial cooperative models proving an existence theorem.

Le finalità di questa azione, voluta dalle istituzioni comunitarie quali Parlamento, Commissione e Consiglio, sono l’individuazione dei migliori studenti, il loro avvicinamento alla scienza e alla tecnologia, la valorizzazione delle eccellenze. L’evento ha regole generali uguali in tutti i paesi comunitari.

Widespread Expression of BORIS/CTCFL in Normal and Cancer Cells

Abstract: BORIS (CTCFL) is the paralog of CTCF (CCCTC-binding factor; NM_006565), a ubiquitously expressed DNA-binding protein with diverse roles in gene expression and chromatin organisation. BORIS and CTCF have virtually identical zinc finger domains, yet display major differences in their respective C- and N-terminal regions. Unlike CTCF, BORIS expression has been reported only in the testis and certain malignancies, leading to its classification as a “cancer-testis” antigen. However, the expression pattern of BORIS is both a significant and unresolved question in the field of DNA binding proteins. Here, we identify BORIS in the cytoplasm and nucleus of a wide range of normal and cancer cells. We compare the localization of CTCF and BORIS in the nucleus and demonstrate enrichment of BORIS within the nucleolus, inside the nucleolin core structure and adjacent to fibrillarin in the dense fibrillar component. In contrast, CTCF is not enriched in the nucleolus. Live imaging of cells transiently transfected with GFP tagged BORIS confirmed the nucleolar accumulation of BORIS. While BORIS transcript levels are low compared to CTCF, its protein levels are readily detectable. These findings show that BORIS expression is more widespread than previously believed, and suggest a role for BORIS in nucleolar function.

Abstract: Questo contributo si focalizza sull’esperienza di mobile learning, con l’ambiente per l’apprendimento cooperativo MoULe, realizzata dall’Università degli studi di Milano- Bicocca in collaborazione con il Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche di Palermo. Un questionario1 sulle tecnologie e l’uso delle tecnologie è stato somministrato ai partecipanti prima dell’inizio dell’esperienza e alla fine dell’esperienza è stato realizzato un focus group con i partecipanti per valutare l’esperienza.

Abstract: The idea of this paper originated during the Socrates Grundtvig Project “The Memory Line: an intergenerational course of learning and communication”. The Memory Line Project is based on the conviction that the promotion of intergenerational exchanges is extremely important because it takes advantage of human and social capital and keeps the memory line of knowledge alive. With the exchange of information, social support and personal empowerment forms of isolation are avoided. The Memory Line Project “aims at training groups of elderly and young citizens resident in the project’s partner c o u n t r i e s t o c o l l e c t r e c o r d s ( s t o r i e s , s o n g s , p o e m s , e x p e r i e n c e s , t r a d e s , e t c . ) i n o r d e r t o e n s u r e t h e i r c o n s e r v a t i o n a n d dissemination with a view to creating a model of cooperation and inter-regional and intergenerational learning (among European regions) based on memory and communication and promote innovative experiences within the area of lifelong training.”. In this paper we present the results of the focus group realised in Italy during the Memory Line Project.
