Brazilian Journal of Oceanography , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S1679-87592007000200006
Abstract: variations of nanoplankton (2-20 μm) and filamentous bacteria (diameter: 0.5-2.0 μm) of guanabara bay (rj, brazil) are presented, considering cell density and carbon content of auto- and heterotrophs. our goal is to contribute to future modeling of local trophic dynamics. subsurface water samples were taken weekly during the year 2000 at two sites: urca (close to the entrance, more saline, eutrophic) and ramos (inner area, less saline, hypertrophic). microscopic analysis was done by epifluorescence and cell density was converted to biomass through cell biovolume. total nanoplankton was about 108 cells.l-1 in most samples (>57%), and total filamentous bacteria densities varied from 105 to 108 fil.l-1. autotroph density was one order of magnitude higher at ramos, both for nanoplankton (md: 108cells.l-1 at ramos and 107cells.l-1 at urca) and for filamentous bacteria (md: 106 fil.l-1 at ramos and 105 fil.l-1 at urca). the same was observed for autotrophic biomass (md: 103μgc.l-1 at ramos and 101μgc.l-1 at urca for nanoplankton; md: 28μgc.l-1 at ramos and 1.4μgc.l-1 at urca for filamentous bacteria). the relative contribution of autotrophs increased after conversion to biomass. seasonal variation was conspicuous for filamentous bacteria at both sites and for nanoplankton only at ramos, with maximum autotrophic abundances during the rainy period (spring-summer).
Protozooplankton characterization of two contrasting sites in a tropical coastal ecosystem (Guanabara Bay, RJ)
Gomes, Eli Ana Traversim;Santos, Viviane Severiano dos;Tenenbaum, Denise Rivera;Villac, Maria Célia;
Brazilian Journal of Oceanography , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S1679-87592007000100004
Abstract: much time and resources have been invested in understanding plankton dynamics in guanabara bay (brazil), but no attention has been devoted to the protozooplankton. to fulfill this lacuna, abundance and composition of protozooplankton were investigated from january to december - 2000 in fortnightly surface water samplings at two distinct water quality sites (urca - closer to the bay entrance, more saline and cleaner waters; ramos - inner reaches, hypereutrophic waters). the density at urca (103 - 105 cell.l-1) was one to three orders of magnitude lower than at ramos (104 - 105 cell.l-1). a seasonal trend for nanoplankton and protozooplankton was more evident at urca, but both sites had lower densities during the colder period. small heterotrophic dinoflagellates (20-30 mm) were dominant in over 50% of the samples. the protozooplankton abundance and composition reflected the distinct trophic conditions states found at the bay. during the wet-warm season, non-oligotrich ciliates were representative of ramos site with gymnodiniaceae dinoflagellates, while tintinnids and heterotrophic dinoflagellates were predominantly found at urca mainly during the dry-cold season. this first descriptive study towards the understanding of the intricate relationships among the microbial food web components reveals that protozooplankton can be a good indicator of water quality conditions at the bay.
Study about Top-Down and Bottom-Up Controls in Regulating the Phytoplankton Biomass in a Eutrophic Reservoir in Northeastern Brazil  [PDF]

Journal of Water Resource and Protection (JWARP) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/jwarp.2012.48071
Abstract: This study aims to analyze the effects of nutrients and predation by zooplankton on phytoplankton biomass (chlorophyll a) in a eutrophic reservoir in Brazil (Apipucos Reservoir, State of Pernambuco), through experiments in microcosms. For this, samples of water were placed in 1 L Erlenmeyer flasks and kept for seven days. Treatments included the addition of nutrients (nitrogen combined with phosphorus and isolated additions of nitrogen and phosphorus), with presence and absence of zooplankton and a control which contained the reservoir water without any manipulation. The addition of nutrients did not stimulate phytoplankton growth. However, zooplankton significantly decreased phytoplankton biomass in the treatments it was added to (p < 0.05). The results of this study showed that for the reservoir studied, predation by zooplankton is the most significant factor in the regulation of phytoplankton, contradicting several studies which show that phytoplankton biomass is more strongly controlled by nutrients (bottom-up control) than by predation (top-down control).
De onde falamos nós?uma análise da produ??o da diferen?a a ser incluída

Educa??o & Realidade , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S2175-62362012000300010
Abstract: this study aims to establish an analysis about the agencies which produce the difference to be included. based on the suspicion that the overuse of the pronoun we in widely different speeches that intend to make a difference through advocacy of the inclusion consists of an abstraction of particularity mechanism, also from contingency and occupying positions of power who enunciates these speeches, i try to show how they fit in and do not appear to offer significant resistance to forms of overlap between disciplinary power and normalization biopolitical power in contemporary societies. this will therefore imply a criticism of evidence of identity. this identity is admitted by the various minority movements.
Medi??o do desempenho de três linhas de fabrica??o instaladas em ambientes de manufatura avan?ada utilizando o modelo SAPROV
Severiano Filho, Cosmo;
Gest?o & Produ??o , 1998, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-530X1998000300006
Abstract: this study evaluated the performance, in terms of productivity, flexibility and quality, of three work stations installed in advanced manufacturing environments, utilizing the saprov model. the research showed that the correlation between productivity, flexibility and quality is not directly proportional to investments made in these functional areas of the factory. this observation was obtained by using the saprov methodology, which consists of result the following four operational steps: determination of the manufacturing criteria of value; determination of the referential performance standards for each criterion of value; audit for evaluating the performance of the manufacturing criteria of value; application of the indicators for evaluation of the technical and economical manufacturing performance.
As retóricas contemporaneas e a significa??o da educa??o inclusiva
Benevides, Pablo Severiano;
Psicologia & Sociedade , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-71822011000200005
Abstract: this study investigates the relation between a significant amount of the discourse which advocates "inclusive education" and the rhetorical trends of contemporary discourse which, rather than constituting an effective form of resistance against social and educational exclusion devices, contributes to the configuration of the field of alterity in education under the predictable sign of stereotype. in this sense, a critical analysis will be done aiming to clarify the rhetorical figures which mask, with the use of euphemism and empty, "politically correct" discourse, the actual exclusion devices which reside at the base of a good many pedagogical enterprises.

This article studies the repression carried out by Franco’s forces in Viscaya against the Basque nationalist clergy. It underlines its dimension and objectives: to neutralize priests susceptible of jeopardizing the establishment of a pro-Franco model of society, and replacing them by clerics whose task was to spread the new ideology.
