Abstract: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease that affects mainly women, presents several clinical manifestations and has no known exact cause. The skin is one of the organs that can be affected, with subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus (SCLE) being one of the classifications according to cutaneous lupus erythematosus lesions. SCLE is commonly found in young to middle age women and carries characteristics related to sun exposure. In this report, there is a rare case of a male and elderly patient that presents SCLE subgroup initially asymptomatic, with subsequent appearance of macular skin lesions and vitiligo appearance. This is an important case to alert health professionals that the disease can manifest itself and open its clinical profile even in patients of sex and unusual ages.
Secondary Syphilis in Man: Prozone Effect  [PDF]
Nayrton Kalys Cruz dos Anjos, Daniel Almeida da Costa, Thiago Sande Miguel, Livia Cristina de Melo Pino, Sebasti?o Célio Horta Coelho Filho, Débora Trindade Martins, Vinicius Sande Miguel, Bruna Sande Miguel, Fernando Ant?nio Galv?o Pereira Junior, Vinicius Moreira Paladino
Journal of Biosciences and Medicines (JBM) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/jbm.2018.62001
Abstract: Introduction: Syphilis consists in a systemic infect contagious pathology with a chronic character. The etiological agent consists of an anaerobic spirochete bacterium, Treponema pallidum. Laboratory diagnosis can be made through a direct investigation of the etiologic agent or non-treponemal (VDRL) and treponemal (FTA-Abs) serological tests. False-negative results are rare. Objectives: The present report presents a rare case of a man with a secondary syphilis syndrome who was initially undiagnosed due to the prozone effect, since he presented VDRL in low titers, and was later confirmed with a new diluted serum sample and VDRL and FTA-Abs, which were positive. Conclusion: A close look should be given to patients who, although the clinical condition is compatible, complementary exams may not be, and clinical cases should be carefully evaluated so that the patient is not treated late.

Vinícius Moreira Paladino, Thiago Sande Miguel, Débora Trindade Martins, Nayrton Kalys Cruz dos Anjos, Fernando Antonio Galv?o Pereira Junior, Marcia Machado Galv?o Pereira, Carolina Galv?o Teixeira, Vinicius Sande Miguel, Bruna Sande Miguel, Daniel Almeida da Costa
Journal of Biosciences and Medicines (JBM) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/jbm.2018.65013
Abstract: Introduction: Splenic cysts are uncommon and usually do not generate signs and symptoms, being diagnosed by incidental findings. Case report: A 35-year-old, female patient attended the Luiz Gioseffi Jannuzzi School Hospital (HELGJ) presenting episodes of vomiting and abdominal pain in the left hypochondrium. She was hospitalized for diagnostic investigation. Computed tomography showed the splenic cyst. The procedure was the surgical approach by laparotomy with splenectomy. Histopathological confirmed the diagnosis. Discussion: Compared to the scarce reports in literature, the case described presented typical epidemiology and clinical features. Conclusions: Given the rarity of this pathology cases, it is essential to report these in order to elucidate the specificities and also to discuss diagnostic and therapeutic methods.

Abstract: Introduction: Gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) occurrence is uncommon and usually manifested by nonspecific signs and symptoms, which hinders its reasoning as a diagnostic hypothesis. The objective is to report a case of female GIST with curative treatment through video-laparoscopy with partial gastrectomy. Case report: A 61-year-old female patient attended the Luiz Gioseffi Jannuzzi School Hospital (HELGJ) emergency room, with a sudden onset of upper gastrointestinal bleeding with hemodynamic instability. After stabilization, she was admitted for diagnostic investigation, showing sub-epithelial lesion of antrum in upper digestive endoscopy (UDE) and solid-cystic mass in the gastric antrum to computed tomography (CT). The conduct was the video laparoscopy surgical approach with partial gastrectomy. The histopathological and immunohistochemical aspects of the surgical specimen showed a gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) in a gastric antrum of low grade of malignancy, positive e-Kit and mycotic index (50 cga) < 5. Discussion: Compared to the scarce reports in literature, the case described presented typical epidemiology, but the clinical picture was not the most incident. Conclusions: Given the rarity of this pathology cases, it is essential to report these in order to elucidate the specificities and also to discuss diagnostic and therapeutic methods.

Vinicius Moreira Mello
Revista Virtual de Química , 2013,
Abstract: The book "OECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook 2012-2021" was produced by the general secretary of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO); it is aimed to gather information related to the production and consumption of foods and fuels obtained from renewable sources worldwide. The FAO is an important UNO body that seeks to achieve improvements in rural areas, tracing long-term goals for increasing the production of raw materials from renewable sources, as well as the preservation of natural resources.
A??o bacteriolítica dos fosfatos (Fosfatólise bacteriana)
Pacheco, Genesio;Dias, Vinicius Moreira;
Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz , 1954, DOI: 10.1590/S0074-02761954000200009
Abstract: bacteria are lysed by phosphates in low concentrations. differences were observed in the lytic activity according to the salt, the trivalente salt being the more active. the lytic action is not always dependent of the living or dead state of the microorganisms. it seems that this "bacterial phosphatolysis" is of importance for the preservation of microorganisms in culture media or in a simple solution containing phosphates.
Contribution to the normal fecal flora of the hamster: Proteus mirabilis in normal feces of hamster
Pacheco, Genesio;Dias, Vinicius Moreira;
Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz , 1955, DOI: 10.1590/S0074-02761955000100004
Abstract: proteus mirabilis must be considered a normal inhabitant of the intestine of hamsters. it is also found in the vaginal secretion of females of this animal, when in oestrus.

American Journal of Analytical Chemistry (AJAC) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/ajac.2015.611081
Abstract: Species from Moraceae family stand out in popular medicine and phytotherapy, have been for example used as expectorants, bronchodilators, anthelmintics and treatment of skin diseases, such as vitiligo, due to the presence of compounds with proven biological activity, as the coumarins. Coumarins are lactones with 1,2-benzopyrone basic structure, and are widely distributed in the plant kingdom, both in free form, and in glycosylated form. This work reports a literature review, describing the data of 13C NMR from 53 coumarins isolated from the family Moraceae, and data comparison between genera who presented photochemical studies, in order to contribute to the chemotaxonomy of this family.

American Journal of Plant Sciences (AJPS) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/ajps.2015.616264
Abstract: This study is a review of the Condamineeae tribe, through the acquisition of data from phytochemical studies and evaluation of genera activities that constitute the tribe, in order to contribute to chemotaxonomic classification of this tribe in the Rubiaceae family. This review also states the scarcity of phytochemical investigations of several genera and consequently a lot of species of family.
Diferencia??o entre Listeria monocytogenes e Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae com o clorêto de Trifeniltetrazólio
Dias, Vinicius Moreira;Silva, Niber da Paz M. da;
Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz , 1958, DOI: 10.1590/S0074-02761958000200007
Abstract: based on a similarity of cultural and biochemical properties, wilson and milles (6) compared the microorganisms of listeriosis with those of swine erysipelas including them in the genus erysipelothrix with the species e. monocytogenes and e. rhusiopathiae. however, barber (1) and julianelle (4), in a comparative study of both microorganisms, do not admit that possibility. observing the morphological and citochemical characteristics of l. monocytogenes (n.o 7 973, 5 348, 5 105, 5 214, of the seeliger collection) and e. ehusiopathiae cultures (n.o 1, 7, 11, 27, 37, of the wix collection), both in phase "s", we were able to verify their comparative behavior when in contact with 2-3-5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride (ttc), "synthetical laboratories, chicago, u.s.a". 1. to 1,0 ml of cultures of both microorganisms grown in plain broth plus 5% horse serum for 24 hours at 37oc, 0.1 ml of sterilized 1% aqueous solution of ttc was added. the tubes were left at room temperature (± 25oc) or in the incubator (37oc). in the tubes with l. monocytogenes immediately appeared a red coloration (fig. 1) characteristic of formazan production, that became gradually more pronounced, from bottom to top (figs. 2, 3, 4, 5); at the and of 24 hours the color was intense the tube. in the tubes with e. rhusiopathiae (figs. 1, 2, 3, 4), only a faint pink coloration was seen after 2 hours; at the end of 24 hours, the intensity of color was not equal to that observed in tubes with l. monocytogenes. 2. petri dishes with 15 ml of plain agar with 5% horse serum, containing 0.1 ml of 1% sterilized aqueous solution of ttc, were inoculated with l. monocytogenes and e. rhusiopathiae, and incubated for 24 hours at 37oc. colonies of l. monocytogenes that developed presented a red color, indicative of formazan, as previously described by gray et al. (3), while the e. rhusiopathiae colonies did not show any coloration. 3. disks of filter paper, previously soaked with ttc and dried were placed over the growth o
