The water retention of a granite rock fragments in High Tatras stony soils

Abstract: The water retention capacity of coarse rock fragments is usually considered negligible. But the presence of rock fragments in a soil can play an important role in both water holding capacity and in hydraulic conductivity as well. This paper presents results of maximum water holding capacity measured in coarse rock fragments in the soil classified as cobbly sandy loam sampled at High Tatra mountains. It is shown, that those coarse rock (granite) fragments have the maximum retention capacity up to 0.16 volumetric water content. Retention curves of the four particular granite fragments have shown water capacity available for plants expressed in units of volumetric water content of 0.005 to 0.072 in the soil water potential range (0, -0.3 MPa). Available water capacity of stone fragments can contribute to the available water capacity of soil fine earth considerably and help to plants to survive during dry spells.

Abstract: Basic information about the evapotranspiration and its components is presented. System of equations describing the transport of water and energy in the soil - plant continuum is analyzed. The system of five differential equations with five unknowns is proposed, describing transport of heat and water vapour within the plant canopy, including exchange processes among the leaves and the atmosphere, vertical transport of the heat, water vapour and the energy balance.

Abstract: Using of category theory in computer science has extremely grown in the last decade. Categories allow us to express mathematical structures in unified way. Algebras are used for constructing basic structures used in computer programs. A program can be considered as an element of the initial algebra arising from the used programming language. In our contribution we formulate two ways of expressing algebras in categories. We also construct the codomain functor from the arrow category of algebras into the base category of sets which objects are also the carrier-sets of the algebras. This functor expresses the relation between algebras and carrier-sets.

Abstract: Behavior of running program can be described by evaluating a coalgebraic structure over a collection of algebraic terms on state space. Coalgebras are defined by polynomial endofunctors. We formulate substantiation of coalgebras in categories. We use approach via Kleisli categories together with monads beside the approach via topoi and comonads as dual structures to monads.

Abstract: Vestia ranojevici moravica is the endemic subspecies, known from the Hostynské Vrchy Mts., Beskydy Mts., Oderské Vrchy Mts., and Podbeskydí region. There were only three localities formerly known in the Hostynské Vrchy Mts. During our research, 30 potential localities in the Hostynské Vrchy Mts. were surveyed so far. On 20 localities the occurrence of Vestia ranojevici moravica was confirmed.

Abstract: The malacological research in the ibeni ník Natural Reserve (South Moravia, Czech Republic) revealed the occurrence of 17 land-snail species. For one of them – Truncatellina costulata (Nilsson, 1822) – it is only the third known locality in the Czech Republic.

Abstract: Monacha cartusiana is one of the non-native molluscan species in the Czech Republic. It comes from the Mediterranean region, and during the 20th and 21th century it spreads on some localities nearly all over the Europe. Two new localities of Monacha cartusiana (O.F. Müller, 1774) were discovered in Moravia, Czech Republic. There were found several specimens in the Kamenná and the Kurovicky Lom Nature Monuments.

Abstract: We propose an algorithm used in a user transparent parallel simulator to improve the lookahead ability of submodels by combining the lookahead values of submodel s entities. We give experimental results for a simple model indicating that using the algorithm can significantly contribute to simulation speedup.
Analysis of Hannan Consistent Selection for Monte Carlo Tree Search in Simultaneous Move Games

Abstract: Monte Carlo Tree Search (MCTS) has recently been successfully used to create strategies for playing imperfect-information games. Despite its popularity, there are no theoretic results that guarantee its convergence to a well-defined solution, such as Nash equilibrium, in these games. We partially fill this gap by analysing MCTS in the class of zero-sum extensive-form games with simultaneous moves but otherwise perfect information. The lack of information about the opponent's concurrent moves already causes that optimal strategies may require randomization. We present theoretic as well as empirical investigation of the speed and quality of convergence of these algorithms to the Nash equilibria. Primarily, we show that after minor technical modifications, MCTS based on any (approximately) Hannan consistent selection function always converges to an (approximate) subgame perfect Nash equilibrium. Without these modifications, Hannan consistency is not sufficient to ensure such convergence and the selection function must satisfy additional properties, which empirically hold for the most common Hannan consistent algorithms.
Temperature-dependent benzoic acid elimination mechanisms in pyrolysis of (-)-cocaine

Abstract: the thermal elimination of benzoic acid from (-)-cocaine is shown to be temperature-dependent. in the temperature range of 200-500 °c only a trans-elimination is observed leading to methylecgonidine. above ca. 500 °c a second mechanism, the cis-elimination, comes up yielding a novel alkaloid methylisoecgonidine which has been characterized by means of mass spectrometry. at 600 °c the cis-elimination predominates. the trans-elimination is postulated a two-step process consisting of a 1,7- and a 1,5-hydrogen shift. the chemistry of cocaine base smoking is explained using the theory of chemical activation.
