Dominique Vidal,Laurent Vidal
Anuario Americanista Europeo , 2003,
Inclusion-Exclusion Policy Latin American Democracies and Distributive Policies  [PDF]
Godofredo Vidal de La Rosa
Open Journal of Political Science (OJPS) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/ojps.2017.71004
Abstract: This essay explores the influence that political participation has in the development of political equality, and the causal relationship between political equality and democracy. The main interest is in the impact of political participation, especially, voter turnout, and distributive social policies in democratic regimes in Latin-America. Voting process and party competition are focused as the main factors in the regime performance. More specifically, high turnout rates are very influential in the regime path and in the policy process. This thesis is well observed in the “first world”.
Sob a máscara do colonial.
Vidal, Laurent;
História (S?o Paulo) , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-90742009000100010
Abstract: this article discusses the emergence and construction of urban life in the outlying areas of modern brazil. it is based on the case of vila boa, located in the heart of the mining region of goias at the beginning of the eighteenth century. this settlement of gold-panners, founded in 1727, was elevated to the status of town in 1739, before becoming the capital of the goias captaincy in 1749. the multiplicity of periods and the gaps in between them, enable us to study the originality of the spatial and social configurations of the emerging town of vila boa during the eighteenth century. from the town project which tried to leave the marks of power in the public spaces, to the present day city with its organization and other aspects, as well as the expectant town waiting for decisions from the king or the viceroy, vila boa discovered its destiny. as the production of gold diminished, the "colonial project" lost much of its strength, and the town became somewhat half-breed - being labeled by the colonial authorities as "in decline".
Vidal, Laurent;
História (S?o Paulo) , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-90742011000100002
Abstract: this article concerns the question of the transference of capital cities in the americas. in order to investigate connections between city and power, this study concentrates on two aspects: the dream or imagining of the new; and the redefining of the old. major transfers of municipal focus or sovereignty are historical processes that interweave urban, political, and psychological dimensions. these new capitals are thus the subjects of dreams, and these (social or political) dreams are the catalysts (or frameworks) for discussions about the very future of the nation. these dreams can be recast as historical protagonists - in every transfer of capital, an abandoned capital is created. so many deposed, dethroned queens! besides the new capital, we must also assess the old capital: how it adapts itself to this new status, how the space of power is redefined, and how this is understood by the population. these approaches were taken as an invitation to read about the relationship between city and power in a different manner.
Vidal, Paloma;
Alea : Estudos Neolatinos , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S1517-106X2006000200007
Abstract: how do we narrate horror? how do we construct a memory of horror? the first question unfolds into the second when we go from dictatorship to postdictatorship, as we may see in the narratives of argentine writer rodolfo enrique fogwill. through the analysis of two of the author's short stories, "muchacha punk" (1979) and "la larga risa de todos estos a?os" (1983), this article examines the way in which his narratives operate a shift in relation to the notion of testimony, in order to narrate the horrors of dictatorship, as well as in relation to the construction of memory, as they point out its inevitably faulty character. with these shifts fogwill displays the nation's fissures and deconstructs its myths.
Vidal, Inés;
Arquivos Brasileiros de Cardiologia , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0066-782X2009000400007
Abstract: background: when a dobutamine stress echocardiogram is performed, piloerection is frequently found in the scalp area. objective: the aim of the present study was to establish the incidence of this phenomenon and its association with other clinical findings. methods: a total of 218 consecutive patients that underwent dobutamine stress echocardiography in our department were included in the study. results: piloerection was present in 42.2% of the sample. no correlations could be established between piloerection and gender, result of the stress test or other side effects. a statistically significant correlation was established with the age of the patients: piloerection was present in 73% of patients aged 50 years or younger. it appears most often with a dobutamine dose of 10 μg/kg/min. conclusion: piloerection is a frequent side effect of dobutamine infusion, particularly in patients aged 50 or less; it usually precedes the increase in heart rate caused by dobutamine; therefore, it is an early and clear indication that the intravenous set is working properly. also, the previous warning of its possible appearance may contribute to the patient's well-being.
Vidal,Manola;
Ciência & Saúde Coletiva , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-81232010000800023
Abstract: the objective of this study was to investigate the maternal mood after pregnancy and premature childbirth after perinatal loss which is defined as the fetal death occurred in the last weeks of gestation or the newborn in the first few weeks after delivery. the study is part of the work executed during a phd course in woman's health (funda??o oswaldo cruz-instituto fernandes figueira) using the qualitative method of research in health for the construction of life histories by means of techniques of opened, non-directive interviews, and participant comment. the field work consisted in accompanying of the double mother-baby during hospitalization and six months after discharge. the sample of the selected subjects was chosen from the relative criterion to the accompaniment by 24 hours of internments with equal or superior duration of 30 days. this article if relates one of four histories of constructed lives. the result was the production of knowledge on the state of maternal mood in mothers of premature babies after hospital discharge through the identification of emotional reactions characteristics of a work of mourning linked to specific perinatal loss in its relationship with the syndromes of the "baby of substitution" and "vulnerable child".
Vidal, Dominique;
Dados , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S0011-52582003000200003
Abstract: based on field research in recife and rio de janeiro, this article attempts to demonstrate why the analysis of the demand for respect, a central point in the social and political discourse of poor brazilian city-dwellers, allows one to highlight a fundamental dimension in the meaning of democratic citizenship in modern societies. first, this demand indicates the importance of the attachment to respect and the denouncement of humiliation among low-income urban brazilians. second, it unveils the tension between hierarchy and equality. the article then goes on to evoke certain social and political representations among the populations studied, leading to questions about the relationship between moral life and the right to legal protection. finally, the article discusses how the importance ascribed to morality is relevant to contemporary discussion on the sociology of recognition.
Vidal, Manola;
Physis: Revista de Saúde Coletiva , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-73312008000300010
Abstract: this article aims to demonstrate the inclusion, in the limits of the methodological model of health qualitative research, of a natural analyzer arising from the dynamics of the relation between researcher and research subject. the inquiry on the maternal mood among mothers of premature babies after hospital discharge, object of doctorate research in woman's health (fiocruz-institute fernandes figueira), had an interface with the emotional reactions lived within the intensive care environment. the analysis and interpretation of the material concerning this period helped repairing the condition of moral vulnerability of group that is often excluded of the awareness about the processes of humanized health care, of mothers in joint lodging during their children's internment, thus contributing for reflections on the ethics in research with human beings.
PERIODIC SOLUTIONS IN THE SINGULAR LOGARITHMIC POTENTIAL
VIDAL,CLAUDIO;
Proyecciones (Antofagasta) , 2007, DOI: 10.4067/S0716-09172007000200003
Abstract: we consider the singular logarithmic potential , a potential which plays an important role in the modelling of triaxial systems, such as elliptical galaxies or bars in the centres of galaxy discs. using properties of the central field in the axis-symmetric case we obtain periodic solutions which are symmetric with respect to the origin for weak anisotropies. also we generalize our result in order to include more general perturbations of the logarithmic potential.
