A Comment on “On Humbert Matrix Polynomials of Two Variables”  [PDF]
Vicente Soler Basauri
Advances in Pure Mathematics (APM) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/apm.2013.35066
Abstract: In this comment we will demonstrate that one of the main formulas given in Ref. [1] is incorrect.
Crisis and Social Security in Spain  [PDF]
Arántzazu Vicente-Palacio
Beijing Law Review (BLR) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/blr.2015.64024
Abstract: This paper outlines the latest reforms introduced into the Social Security System’s protective actions in order to deduce whether such intense changes allow us to conclude that a Social Security crisis exists. This concept is understood from the perspective of the Social Security being capable, or not, of undertaking its historical mission. This work takes into account the legislative reforms made to Social Security, along with the changes that are taking place, in the form of providing services in the new post-capitalist society.
Changes in Productive Organisation, Outsourcing and Multiservice Companies (A New Workers’ Category: “Sub-Ceded” Worker)  [PDF]
Arántzazu Vicente-Palacio
Beijing Law Review (BLR) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/blr.2018.92017
Abstract: The outsourcing phenomenon has increased considerably in recent years, and the appearance and rapid spread of multiservice or all-round management companies have, in turn, substantially contributed to this phenomenon. All this has been made possible by numerous economic and legal causes, with the Employment Law still having to react to the precariousness of the legal statute of this new worker category: the “subceded” worker by finishing with some proposals for which the lawmaker takes his/her responsibility and puts an end to today’s harmful legal anomie.
Enzymes in Organic Solvents: the Use of Lipases and (R)-Oxynitrilase for the Preparation of Products of Biological Interest
Vicente Gotor
Molecules , 2000, DOI: 10.3390/50300290
Abstract: The use of enzymes in organic solvents has acquired a special relevance in organic synthesis, and lipases are the enzymes most commonly used in transesterication reactions. In the past few years, we have shown the utility of enzymatic aminolysis and ammonolysis reactions for the preparation of amides and for the resolution of esters and amines. The enzymatic alkoxycarbonylation reaction is of great utility in chemoselective reactions of natural products. Lipases, enzymes much less exploited in organic synthesis, have an increasing interest, especially the use of (R)-oxynitrilases for the synthesis of optically active cyanohydrins.
Restricted Access to Myeloid Cells Explained
Vicente Planelles
Viruses , 2011, DOI: 10.3390/v3091624
Abstract: The lentiviral accessory protein, Vpx, is known to counteract a restriction factor that is specific to myeloid cells, such as macrophages and dendritic cells. This review summarizes the findings in two seminal studies that identify SAMHD1 as the cellular protein that is responsible for myeloid cell restriction, and establish the existence of other types of restriction in these cells.
Díkaion Revista de Fundamentación Jurídica , 2012,
Abstract: the colombian constitution of 1991 and the statutory law on religious freedom (1994) constitute the first and foremost benchmark with respect to treatment of the religious factor under civil law. development of the principles of religious freedom, secularism, equality and cooperation has affected the legal regime applicable to churches and their organizations. it created a new legal status for churches and denominations, and their respective registration, with the possibility of entering into agreements or pacts with the colombian state under public law. at the same time, the specific recognition afforded to the catholic church and its organizations under the concordat with the holy see (1973) continues. the different possibilities with respect to legal form could raise concerns about the principle of equality, particularly with respect to the meaning and scope of the various forms of personification provided for under the law and its instrumental nature in serving religious freedom. the objective is to overcome formalist visions and to underscore the balance that should exist between social reality, original legality (human rights) and legal-positive formalization, taking into account the experiences of other countries. some possible changes in the statutory law on religious freedom are suggested.
Historia social de la acción colectiva urbana: Los pobladores de Santiago, 1957-1987
EURE (Santiago) , 1998, DOI: 10.4067/S0250-71611998007200004
Abstract: what does characterize the collective action of santiago's pobladores from 1957 to 1987 as the action of a social movement? i propose an analytical framework of four orientations that organize the collective action of pobladores: negotiation of urban rights, institutional participation, community action and revolutionary politics. the history of this urban social movement yields different hierarchies of these elements in the organization of its action. early land seizures are a negotiation of rights supported by an active community; this nuclei subordinates the relationship to the institutions of the political system. in the years of populism the state initiative tied to a myriad of community organizations outshines the negotiation of rights that, at some point, shows its links to revolutionary politics. in the days of allende, pobladores channel their negotiation of rights to an institutional arena that pervaded community life; revolutionary politics is somewhat isolated from the mainstream. in the eighties, the negotiation of rights and institutional participation are in crisis and community life appears closer than ever to revolutionary politics
Existe uma terceira via? uma resposta à "terceira via" de Giddens
Navarro, Vicente;
Lua Nova: Revista de Cultura e Política , 1999, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-64451999000300010
Abstract: the book by anthony giddens proposing a "third way" to be adopted by contemporary societies is discussed, it is hold that giddens' positions are less original than he supposes, and at several points are similar to well-established proposals of the continental christian democracy.
Os caminhos da reforma na Argentina e no Brasil
Palermo, Vicente;
Lua Nova: Revista de Cultura e Política , 1998, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-64451998000300006
Abstract: the political dynamics of market oriented reforms in brazil and argentina are characterized by a dilemma which is put into evidence by the reelection amends in both countries, between maintaining the stability of constitutional rules (and risking the reformist coalition) and maintaining the stability of the reformist coalition (with risks to the institutional rules).
Maderas. Ciencia y tecnología , 2013, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-221X2013005000007
Abstract: in this work the effect of age and location within the stem on ph and buffering capacity of radiata pine sapwood was investigated. mature and juvenile wood samples from three different heights in the trunk were obtained from 20, 25, and 30 year-old trees. aqueous wood extracts from the samples were used to determine the ph and buffering capacity of wood. results show a significant effect of age and location in the tree, although a strong interaction among all factors was also detected. in general sapwood tended to be more acidic in the lower part of trees, but juvenile wood showed to be more acidic than mature wood. from both type of wood tested, juvenile wood was more sensitive to change its ph and buffering capacity with the height and age. the effect of wood ph and buffering capacity in the manufacture of wood composites is discussed and further research is recommended to determine whether the variations detected in this study can affect the curing of resins and quality of wood base composite manufactured with radiata pine wood.
