Abstract: this retrospective study aims to analyze the usefulness of bilateral bone marrow biopsy in bone marrow infiltration by diffuse large b-cell lymphoma (dlbcl). our objectives were to assess the incidence of unilateral bm involvement by dlbcl and compare fragment length obtained from positive and negative samples for infiltration. furthermore, we compared the differences between unilateral and bilateral infiltration correlating with lactic dehydrogenase (ldh) and computerized tomography (ct) staging. we evaluated 268 cases of dlbcl and observed medullary infiltration in 34 cases (13%). it was not possible to evaluate 6 out of 34 cases. 70 bm fragments were reviewed as to the presence or absence of infiltration and length. the mean number of fragments per case was 2.5; the mean bm fragment length was 11.01 mm (± 5.12 mm) and the mean bm fragment length per case was 27.53 mm. there was unilateral bm infiltration in six cases (21.4%). there were no differences in the mean fragment length as to the presence/absence of infiltration 10.95 mm (± 5.2 mm) versus 11.57 mm, p > 0.05, respectively. there were no differences in 23 cases between the comparison of unilateral medullary infiltration versus bilateral with lactic dehydrogenase and ct staging. we concluded that bilateral bone marrow biopsy was superior to unilateral because it may increase by 21.4% the detection of bm involvement by dlbcl.

Abstract: extranodal lymphomas account for about 30% of all non-hodgkin lymphomas (nhl), and although they can originate in any tissue, the gastrointestinal tract is the most commonly affected structure with the stomach being the most common subtype. diffuse large b cell lymphoma (dlbcl) and malt (mucosa associated lymphoid tissue) lymphoma account for more than 95% of the cases of gastric lymphoma. the indolent development of malt lymphoma stands out as it is a type of cancer subject to chronic antigen stimulation by the helicobacter pylori bacteria. conversely, diffuse large b cell lymphomas, whose pathogenesis is uncertain, can be a transformation from malt nhl or perhaps a new type of lymphoma. in this study we carried out a review of the literature, stressing the key aspects of these lymphomas in the clinical practice.

Abstract: the objective of this article is to think the task of teaching under the focus of the vicissitudes to which the teacher-student relationship is subjected, which steer pupils and teachers away from the ideals of order and harmony. with the purpose of analyzing the intersubjective flows in the classroom, aspects of group psychodynamics are investigated with the use of the psychoanalytic notions of basic assumption group and of projective identification. with this procedure, we want at the same time to probe to which extent notions that are efficacious in psychoanalytic clinic can be useful to analyze and to understand situations that belong to the field of education, and in particular the classroom, seen here as a space for the production of psychic inter-occurrences. we try to think the intersubjective space according to a logic that considers the creation of a third party in teaching and learning. we introduce the notion of a "third voice" (ogden) to denote the creation and re-creation of the intersubjective other with various effects on the subjective constitutions. the identitary stiffening, along with the attending disdain and intolerance to difference, can be a form of reacting to that which escapes from control and predictability, thereby weakening the transformational movements implicated in the process of learning.

Abstract: the main objective of this article is to present a critical analysis of the post-1996 ldb (law of basic tenets and guidelines of brazilian education) educational policies regarding the expansion of higher education in brazil. it seeks to identify and discuss the new configurations of that expansion. it focuses more particularly on the creation of nets of educational firms from 2007 on, showing that the acquisition or merging of brazilian higher education private institutions by national and international educational firms that went public has yielded oligopolies. its methodological resources come from a variety of documental sources, in particular websites of educational firms and the brazilian traditional and electronic news agencies. its final considerations point out some tendencies towards the mercantilization of higher education in brazil.

Abstract: the present article consists of a study focused on the analysis of processes of qualification acquisition experienced by industrial workers in the field of petroleum -petrochemicals. this research identified the loci of qualification acquisition of operatives working in three distinct oil process units, which differ from the others in terms of technological advancement and importance to the production process. a major finding of the study is that the place of work represents the main source of qualification for oil process operatives, independently of the unit investigated. social milieu influences and knowledge acquired through school and professional education also proved to be important for the qualification process.

Abstract: departing from the process of elaboration of pedagogical projects in three institutions of vocational education and its consequences to the reconstruction of the pedagogical and professional identities in a setting marked by changes in the brazilian curriculum policies implemented in the 90's, this article analyses the macro-relations by setting up out from micro-relations: the speeches of representatives of pedagogical teams, teachers and the head-teachers of the institutions studied. despite the isolated efforts of individual teachers, it was found that there is no clarity in relationship to these educational institutions' role, which are regulated by mechanisms for assessing the competences acquired, by the redefinition of administrative and financial procedures, as well as by widening their duties and responsibilities. these, at the end, would lead to a model that meets the imperative needs of the market and, consequently, to an exogenous formulation of the pedagogical and institutional identities.

Abstract: this article reflects about time, that is still lived only in the linear, chronological aspect. it discusses the theories of henri bergson concerning memory, of gilles deleuze, concerning time, image and cinematographic art and deleuze-guattari’s theory on the crystal image. it is a study motivated by the production of new ways to think about subjectivity and the creation of new behaviors in the time of therapy, highlighting small individual and group differences, when the virtual update occurs, that fortify life, liberating the intensities imprisoned by forms generated in the refusal of time, the expression of the captive powers, powers of time, that reveal points of singularization, new and mutant points of truth, transitory truth, as in the cinema, that operates with diverse kinds of time images and privileges images that emerge directly from time, where the objects are disposed in infinite plans.
