Abstract: In the present work, the susceptibility of API 5L X52 steel to corrosion processes was evaluated in the presence of high contents of hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide. Gravimetric tests and surface analyses were carried out to establish both the corrosion rate and damage type exhibited by the metal. The obtained results indicate that the hydrogen sulfide is the most active gas in the corrosion processes that took place, quite above carbon dioxide. The main observed corrosion products were iron sulfides and the typical damage associated with hydrogen sulfide presence was Sulfide Stress Cracking (SSC). The surface damage evidences the presence of cracks with considerable magnitude and metal loss as consequences of the corrosion processes. Likewise, the presence of oxygen in the system modifies the displayed corrosion type, where corrosion products such as iron oxides and reduction in the number and extent of cracks are observed. On the other hand, the addition of a film-forming corrosion inhibitor based on modified imidazolines eliminates completely the development of cracks, although under certain test conditions, it can favor localized pitting corrosion.

Open Journal of Statistics (OJS) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/ojs.2015.56062
Abstract:

Periodicity is common in natural processes, however, extraction tools are typically difficult and cumbersome to use. Here we report a computational method developed in MATLAB through a function called Periods with the aim to find the main harmonic components of time series data. This function is designed to obtain the period, amplitude and lag phase of the main harmonic components in a time series (Periods and lag phase components can be related to climate, social or economic events). It is based on methods of periodic regression with cyclic descent and includes statistical significance testing. The proposed method is very easy to use. Furthermore, it does not require full understanding of time series theory, nor require many inputs from the user. However, it is sufficiently flexible to undertake more complex tasks such as forecasting. Additionally, based on previous knowledge, specific periods can be included or excluded easily. The output results are organized into two groups. One contains the parameters of the adjusted model and their F statistics. The other consists of the harmonic parameters that best fit the original series according to their importance and the summarized statistics of the comparisons between successive models in the cyclic descent process. Periods is tested with both, simulated and actual sunspot and Multivariate ENSO Index data to show its performance and accuracy.

According to studies carried out in the Library of the Faculty of Medical Sciences Dr. Enrique Cabrera, in the period of October - January, it was shown the shortage of bibliography of the keywords: diseases iatrogenic and mal practice, which motivated an retrospective investigation, recovering in the databases LILASC since 1982 to date and Medline from 1967 to the present time a bibliographical listing on iatrogenic diseases and mal practice respectively, Where there was obtained a total of 112 documents as source of information to improve the service to the users of the place. Once it recovered this the treated subject matter are processed, being obtained diverse results as for productivity of the publications in years, magazines of greater impact, etc. With the objective to offer to the investigators, professors and students a bibliography of these two medical as important subject matter tool to help that permit to arrive at its original documents.

Advances in Applied Sociology (AASoci) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/aasoci.2016.66019
Abstract: Background: Several studies have described the physician’s attitudes, perceptions, knowledge and experience about the complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), reporting among their results that these therapies are usually perceived as useful, which has favor the increase in its use and recommendation, both personally and in the medical practices. Despite the relevance that CAM has regained in the last years, in Mexico there are no studies developed about this topic nor in this population. Methodology: A descriptive and transversal study was developed. The participants answer a survey designed and validated for Mexican population (α = 0.72). The survey was applied to the doctors in a pediatric tertiary care hospital, the survey included demographic data, history of personal use of CAM, recommendation to patients and attitudes towards CAM. Averages, standard deviations and association statistics (χi2) were calculated. Results: A total of 249 physicians were included: 51% turned to CAM, primarily to treat acute conditions in a complementary manner to conventional treatment. A third of the participants recommended CAM to their patients. The use of CAM by the physician was the only factor related to their recommendation of these treatments. The most commonly used and recommended therapies by doctors were homeopathy and herbal medicine. 72% consider it useful to have knowledge in CAM and 67% want more information about these therapies. 51% agree that the CAM should be included in the medical career. Conclusions: Half of the respondents use CAM, and one-third recommend. The most used therapies were homeopathy and herbal medicine. Most doctors consider the knowledge about CAM useful and want to have more information, but only half of them agreed on its inclusion in the career of medicine.

Revista Cubana de Cirug?-a , 1996,
Abstract: to assess the effect of helium-neon (he-ne) laser on the regeneration of the sectioned and sutured sciatic nerve, 72 wistar rats were used, divided in three groups, all of them irradiated with he-ne, xenon light and solar light, respectively. the witness group only received the section and suture of the sciatic nerve. the rats whose nerves were irradiated with xenon and solar light evolutioned the same than the witness group, that is, in their totality they presented trophic injuries of higher or lower degree and also motorial injuries. in the he-ne group only the loss of a nail of a finger was observed, and no motorial disorders were appreciated. irradiation with he-ne laser has an important influence in the restoration of nervous injuries in rats

Revista Cubana de Cirug?-a , 1996,
Abstract: many method to perform an ureteroureterostomy have been described, since spof performed it for the first time in 1896. in a great amount of cases, the continuity of the urinary tract could not be guaranted until the advent of microsurgery. the aim of the authors is to demonstrate experimentally the advantages of the microsurgical trechnique, and thus 15 beagle dogs were used. all of them had both ureters sectioned and anastomosed. suture must be accomplished with nylon monofilament with a 10-0 spatulated needle, always in a seromuscular way. results were satisfactory in a 100 % in all the animals, and the use of the microscope was not necessary, since the 2,3 enlargements augmentation glasses were enough. this method must be kept in mind in case of renal transplantation, since this would be the best anti-reflux technique
