O programa Morar Carioca e a urbaniza o de favelas da cidade do Rio de Janeiro

Abstract: This article intends to discuss the programs of slum upgrading that have been developed in recent decades in the city of Rio de Janei-ro, with emphasis on the recent program Morar Carioca , launched in 2010. Changes in the relationship between State and slum communities, between the 1960’s and 1990’s will be exhibit-ed at first. Afterwards Favela/Bairro program, that was developed during the 1990s, and Morar Carioca, which will be implemented from 2011 on, and will integrates the efforts to prepare the city of Rio de Janeiro for the 2016 Olympics and the 2014 World Cup Championship, will be presented. Finally, it'll be presented a con-clusion considering the challenges of this new program, that rep-resents a consequence of the slum’s consolidation as a legitimate habitat in the city, and must be target of urban projects and social improvement programs.

Abstract: the housing has acquired importance in the world's agendas on urban development. this article proposes a review on the conditions that space of human living offers, central for the development. the housing's conditions in urban areas (from 15 thousand inhabitants and up) of the north of the country are observed regarding the past three decades. it is relevant to observe this phenomenon regarding of the states north of mexico's economic performance, which have shown positive changes in economic growth since the half of the last century. a norm's evaluation of the housing's conditions is made by using data of the samples of the census of population and house of 1990 and 2000.

Abstract: This study tackles the issue of privacy in Arabic house design with reference to aspects such as form, style and design in the past and present. Through a historical review of Arabic house design with particular focus on the Egyptian model, attention will be paid to different factors affecting the issue of privacy in house design. The study will emphasize current considerations resulting in the contemporary status of the privacy. The findings and recommendations of this study are presented as additions to the existing knowledge base in the design process of the Arabic house, and provide data that may be used as a guideline by architects, designers and researchers with regards to the issue of housing privacy.
