Dinamica temporal do estrato herbáceo-arbustivo de uma área de campo limpo úmido em Alto Paraíso de Goiás, Brasil

Abstract: this study evaluated the floristic and structural dynamics of a community of herbaceous-shrub species in an area of moist grassland in alto paraíso de goiás. th e fi rst inventory was undertaken in 2000 (t0) and the second in 2007 (t1). shannon's diversity between the periods was compared by hutchesons′s t-test, and the floristic similarity by the chao-s?rensen similarity index. floristic composition and cover, between periods and lines, were evaluated by detrended correspondence analysis (dca). we sampled 98 species, 88 at t0 and 67 at t1; 31 were unique to t0 and 10 to t1. floristic diversity in the community was high in both periods, but diff erent between them (t = 7.12, p <0.001), due to variation in species number and coverage. similarity between the two surveys was high (chao-s?rensen ci = ± 0.841 ± 0.074). the dca ordination indicated relationships between the floristic composition and cover with a gradient of moisture and organic matter in the soil identified in t0. th ere were changes in the lines in the seasonal zones, which became more similar in those constantly saturated with water. during an interval of seven years the moist grassland showed changes in floristic composition and mainly in structure due to increased cover of the clumped tussock perennial species, which were favored by higher soil moisture due to high rainfall in the region.
Características biológicas de linhagens de Trichogramma pretiosum, criados em ovos de Sitotroga cerealella e Anagasta kuehniella

Abstract: the biological characteristics of five lineages of t. pretiosum riley (hym.: trichogrammatidae), collected from tomato crops, and reared in a. kuehniella (zeller) and s. cerealella (olivier) eggs were evaluated. the parasitism rate of the lineages, varied from 56,1 to 68.6%, when the host was a. kuehniella, being higher than for s. cerealella. the viability of all lineages, when reared in s. cerealella eggs, was superior to 90%; however, only those lineages reared in s. cerealella eggs and collected in afonso cláudio and venda nova dos imigrantes (espirito santo state, brazil) were significantly higher than those reared on a. kuehniella. the longevity of the offspring submitted to the parasitism, was higher in all the lineages reared in a. kuehniella eggs. all five lineages can be mass reared using both hosts. however, considering the parasitism rate and the quality of the progeny, the host a. kuehniella seems to be superior than s. cerealella

Abstract: defoliator caterpillar cause damages in eucalyptus plantations. a control alternative is the use of trichogramma which, even though has been found parasitizing some species in eucaliptus, does not meet cases of t. arnobia parasitism. the objective of this research was to evaluate the parasitism of trichogramma pratissolii querino & zucchi (hymenoptera: trichogrammatidae) on unviable t. arnobia eggs. unviable t. arnobia eggs were glued on light blue cardboard rectangles, and exposed to the parasitism of t. pratissolii for 24 hours. after this period there was observed 100% mortality of the individuals, though the glued eggs did not present parasitism.

Abstract: the dispersion capacity of trichogramma pretiosum riley was studied on anagasta kuehniella (zeller) eggs, in tomato field in different phenological stages and systems of conduction of the plants. the dispersion of t. pretiosum, 24 hours after the liberation, attained 7.37 to 7.94 m. the dispersion area was 120.20 to 138.72 m2. parasitism varies from 53.1% to 87.3% and it is significant according to the phenological stage of the crop. the parasitoids liberation for the control of tuta absoluta (meyrick) should be done in 75 points per hectare.

Abstract: in order to evaluate nutritional and anemic status, 112 indian children (kamaiurá), aged from 0 to 119.9 months, from the alto xingu region of central brazil were studied in 2000/2001. the international growth reference - nchs was used to evaluate height and weight, according to the child's age and gender. growth deficit (stunting) and low weight status (wasting) were determined when height-for-age and weight-for-height indices were below _2 z scores, respectively, and obesity status when the weight-for-height index was above 2 z scores. stunting was observed in 1/3 of the children and neither wasting nor obesity were observed. the anemic status was diagnosed by hemoglobin values below 11 g/dl for children from 6 to 59 months of age, and below 11.5 g/dl, for children from 60 to 119.9 months. about 50% of the indian children were anemic and 15% were affected by severe anemia. there is a particular need to ensure efforts to implement environment, health and nutrition programs addressed to kamaiurá children.
Teores de carboidratos n o-estruturais, nitrogênio total e peso de raízes em Coastcross-1 (Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers) pastejado por ovinos

Abstract: O experimento foi realizado no período de outubro de 1997 a abril de 1998, com o objetivo de avaliar os teores de carboidratos n o-estruturais (CHO), nitrogênio total (NT) e produ o de raízes em pastagem de Coastcross-1 (Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers), em quatro níveis de resíduo de matéria seca (RMS: 1978, 2130, 2545 e 3857 kg de MS/ha), sob pastejo contínuo e lota o variável. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi inteiramente casualizado, com duas repeti es. As avalia es dos teores de CHO e NT foram estudadas nas raízes e base do colmo, em fun o dos níveis de resíduo de matéria seca (RMS) e do tempo (dias) do experimento. Os resultados observados evidenciam que os teores de CHO nas raízes e a porcentagem de NT na base de colmo n o foram influenciados pelos níveis de RMS e período de coleta. Os maiores teores de CHO na base do colmo foram encontrados a partir do resíduo de 2545 kg de MS/ha, e no tempo houve constante adapta o às condi es de pastejo. O teor de CHO foi superior na base do colmo, comparada às raízes. A porcentagem de NT nas raízes diminuiu até o nível de 2545 kg de MS/ha. A produ o de matéria seca de raízes aumentou, à medida que aumentou os RMS, ocorrendo declínio em rela o ao período de coleta.

Abstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate the non-structural carbohydrates and root biomass in pastures of Coastcross + Arachis pintoi; Coastcross + Arachis pintoi with 100kg/ha of nitrogen (N); Coastcross + Arachis pintoi with 200kg/ha of N; and Coastcross with 200kg/ha of N, in the seasons of winter, spring, summer and autumn. In the experimental was used a complete randomized block design with subdivided parcels, with two repetitions (blocks) was used. The use of nitrogen fertilization (100kg/ha) associated to the Arachis pintoi provided the highest content of non-structural carbohydrates (0,3942g/hg) in the roots and greater root biomass (0,4483kg/m3). The content of non-structural carbohydrates and the root biomass were higher in the summer and autumn. The concentration of 63%, 24 % and 13% of the root biomass occurred in the layer of 0 - 15; 15 - 30 and 30 - 45cm of the ground, however, it did not have difference in the root biomass between the treatments with or without intercropping, in the studied depths. The concentrations of the non-structural carbohydrates were similar in the different depths of the root. Objetivou-se neste trabalho avaliar a concentra o de carboidrato n o-estrutural e biomassa radicular em pastagens de grama Coastcross + Arachis pintoi; Coastcross + Arachis pintoi com 100kg/ha de nitrogênio (N); Coastcross + Arachis pintoi com 200kg/ha de N; e Coastcross com 200kg/ha de N, nos períodos de ver o, outono e inverno. Utilizou-se delineamento experimental em blocos ao acaso com os tratamentos em esquema de parcelas subdivididas, com duas repeti es (blocos). A utiliza o de aduba o nitrogenada (100kg/ha) associada ao Arachis pintoi proporcionou maior concentra o de carboidrato n o estrutural (0,3942g/hg) na raiz e maior biomassa radicular (0,4483kg/m3). A concentra o de carboidrato n o estrutural e a biomassa radicular foram elevadas no ver o e outono. A concentra o de biomassa radicular foi de 63%, 24% e 13% nas profundidades de 0 - 15, 15 - 30 e 30 - 45cm, entretanto, n o houve diferen a na biomassa radicular entre os tratamentos com e sem consorcia o, nas profundidades estudadas. As concentra es de carboidratos n o estruturais foram semelhantes nas diferentes profundidades das raízes.
Fertility life table of Trichogramma pretiosum and Trichogramma acacioi on eggs of Anagasta kuehniella at different temperatures

Abstract: Species of the Trichogramma genus are among the most important ones for biological control. The objective of this research was to evaluate parasitism potential of two species of Trichogramma on eggs of Anagasta kuheniella through life fertility table, at temperatures between 15oC and 35oC. These species were collected in the State of Espírito Santo parasitising eggs of the avocado defoliator Nipteria panacea. Trichogramma pretiosum and T. acacioi showed adequate reproductive potential between 15oC and 35oC which indicates possibilities of using them in biological control programs in avocado plantations.

Abstract: O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar os efeitos adversos de Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) nos parasitóides de ovos Trichogramma pratissolii e Trichogramma pretiosum. Suspens es de 6 isolados de Bt: E-3, E-10, E-15, E-16, E-19, E-20 e Bt kurstaki foram misturadas com mel (1:1), como fonte de alimento, e cartelas com ovos de Anagasta kuehniella foram fornecidas para o parasitismo. O experimento foi mantido em BOD a 25 + 1oC, umidade relativa de 70+ 10% e fotofase de 14 horas. Foram analisados a longevidade, os parasitismos diário, acumulado e total. N o houve influência dos tratamentos sobre a longevidade e todos ostratamentos em T. pratissolii e E-3, E-10, E-16 e E- 19 em T. pretiosum diminuíram o tempo necessário para os parasitóides atingirem 80% de parasitismo. Apesar dessa acelera o do parasitismo, o Bt n o influenciou o total de ovos parasitados, mostrando-se como tática de controle que pode ser usada com Trichogramma em programas de MIP. The goal of this work was to detect the possible side-effectsprovoked by Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) strains on eggs parasitoids Thichogramma pratissolii and Trichogramma pretiosum. Six strains of Bt: E-3, E-10, E-15, E-16, E-19, and E-20 and Bt kurstaki were assayed in honey drop to stimulate the feeding of the parasitoids in each treatment and offered simultaneously displays with Anagasta kuehniella eggs. The experiment was maintained in a climatized chamber at 25+ 1oC, RH 70+ 10%, and photophase of 14 hours. The longevity, the daily, the accumulated, and the total parasitism were observed. No treatments affected the longevity of both parasitoids. All treatments in T. pratissolii and E-3, E-10, E-16, and E-19 in T. pretiosum decreased the time necessary to reach 80% of parasitism. The lack of deleterious effects of Bt on these parasitoids suggests that these natural enemies can be used together in IPM programs.

Abstract: Lepidópteros desfolhadores causam danos a plantios de Eucalyptus. Uma alternativa de controle é o uso de Trichogramma, que embora tenha sido relatado parasitando várias espécies em eucalipto, n o se encontra casos de parasitismo em T. arnobia. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o parasitismo de Trichogramma pratissolii Querino & Zucchi (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) em ovos inviáveis de T. arnobia. Ovos inviáveis de T. arnobia foram colados em retangulos de cartolina azul celeste, e expostos ao parasitismo de T. pratissolii por 24 horas. Após esse período observou-se mortalidade 100% dos indivíduos, sendo que os ovos n o apresentaram parasitismo. Defoliator caterpillar cause damages in Eucalyptus plantations.
