Internal Control, Life Cycle and Earnings Quality —An Empirical Analysis from Chinese Market  [PDF]

Abstract: Whether internal controls can effectively constrain earnings management, which is a hot topic in recent years. I investigate the impact of internal control on earnings quality based on a life cycle perspective using data of listed companies of China’s market from 2010-2013. The empirical findings indicate that high quality internal control can suppress accrual earnings management and real earnings management (except for discretionary expenses manipulating earnings management) effectively, whilst in different life cycle stages (LCSs), the relation between internal control quality and accounting earnings quality (accrual quality and real earnings quality) is different. For the accrual quality aspect, in mature LCS, internal control quality and accrual quality is positively correlated. In growth or decline LCS, the relation between internal quality and accrual quality is not significant. For the real earnings quality aspect, in decline LCS, high quality internal control can improve real earnings quality; in growth LCS or mature LCS, the relation is just the opposite.

Abstract: Knowledge is the organization’s most important strategic resource that can provide organizations with a sustainable competitive advantage; at the same time, knowledge management depends on knowledge sharing. Knowledge sharing is affected by multi-level factors: Organizational level, team level and individual level factors; some will promote knowledge sharing, and some will have a negative impact. Therefore, this paper reviews the concepts of knowledge sharing and the related factors that affect knowledge sharing. Finally, this paper proposes future research directions about knowledge sharing.

Abstract: In the title compound, C10H10N4O4, the two imidazole rings adopt a trans conformation and are inclined to one another at a dihedral angle of 55.64 (4)°. In the crystal structure, molecules are linked by intermolecular O—H...N hydrogen bonds into chains running parallel to [010] and layers are formed from these by intermolecular C—H...O hydrogen bonds. Additional C—H...O hydrogen bonds produce a three-dimensional network.

Abstract: Micro molybdenum disulfide was prepared with one-step hydrothermal method; the influence of reactant concentration and temperature on the surface ratio of micro-MoS2 grain was investigated. Raman spectroscopy (Raman), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to characterize the structure, composition and morphology of MoS2. The results show that micro-MoS2 grains were synthesized with one-step hydrothermal synthesis, and the morphology of micro-MoS2 grains is like flower and sphere. The SEM figures indicate that the surface ratio of micro-MoS2 grains is different and also show that the surface ratio of micro-MoS2 grains can be improved by regulating reactant concentration and temperature. This research showed a method to improve the surface ratio of micro-MoS2 grains.

Abstract: Closed form expressions for the PDF and MGF of the harmonic mean of two independent exponential variates are cited and derived, and then applied to study the performance of cellular multi-node and dual-hop cooperative communication systems with non-regenerative relays over flat Rayleigh fading channels. We derive the probability density function (PDF) and asymptotic symbol error rate (SER) expression with MRC scheme. Then we use Matlab to simulate the performance.
Regional Geochemical Characteristics and Influence Factors of Soil Elements in the Pearl River Delta Economic Zone, China  [PDF]

Abstract: Soil heavy metal pollution is one of the main environmental problems in Pearl River Delta EconomicZone of China. Based on multi-purpose regional geochemical survey, regional eco-geochemical assessment, local eco-geochemical assessment and comprehensive appraisal, the eco-geochemical survey and assessment in Pearl River Delta Economic Zone of 41,698 km2were completed. Samples from soils were collected in accordance with the two-layer grid method. Totally 54 elements and indicators for soils were determined. Compared to deep soils, the sampled surface soils are enriched in OrgC, N, P, Cd, SHg, Ag, B, Au, S and poor with As, Ni, I, Co, Cr, V, MgO, Sc, Al2O3, Fe2O3etc. The characteristics of geochemical reference value of element in soil that inherited soil parent material and regional elements combined features reflected that the elements enriched in the soil was interrelated with acid rock, sandstone and shale. The spatial distribution characteristics of element regional geochemistry were conditional by regional environmental geological conditionsand effected by human activities. Role of Character Strengths and Stress in Psychological Symptoms among Chinese Secondary Vocational School Students  [PDF]

Abstract: Background: Character strengths are important psychology resources, which affect the academic and social development of students at secondary vocational schools. Purpose: We aimed to clarify the relationship between character strengths, psychological stress, and psychological symptoms among these students from a positive psychological perspective. By focusing on virtues and strengths, we suggest improvements to school education and family upbringing. Sample: A total of 282 secondary vocational school students were recruited. Design and Method: Students were asked to complete the Chinese Virtues Questionnaire, Life Stress Rating Scale, and Symptom Checklist-90. Statistical analyses were conducted using SPSS 19.0. Results: Regression analyses indicated that the interaction between relationship strengths and family stress explained 45% of the variance in psychological symptoms. This study clarified the positive role of character strengths in stressful situations. Thus, helping secondary vocational school students recognize and use their strengths is conducive to improving their health. Conclusion: Our results should also help teachers and parents adopt a strengths perspective, which might encourage students to explore and develop their strengths.

Abstract: The aim of this article is to introduce the notion of Hom-Lie H-pseudo-superalgebras for any Hopf algebra H. This class of algebras is a natural generalization of the Hom-Lie pseudo-algebras as well as a special case of the Hom-Lie superalgebras. We present some construction theorems of Hom-Lie H-pseudo-superalgebras, reformulate the equivalent definition of Hom-Lie H-pseudo-super-algebras, and consider the cohomology theory of Hom-Lie H-pseudo-superalgebras with coefficients in arbitrary Hom-modules as a generalization of Kac’s result.
Research on the Efficiency of Introducing Strategic Investors in Commercial Banks in China—Based on the Panel Data Model  [PDF]

In order to solve the problem of insufficient capital adequacy, haphazard internal control, the lower international competitiveness and others, the domestic commercial banks have introduced strategic investors. In order to study whether efficiency of introducing the strategic investors is improved, this paper carries out panel data regression analysis, using data of such banks as: the China Construction Bank, Agricultural Bank and other 9 banks which have already introduced strategic investors. Then, the result shows that although the introduction of strategic investors for bank profitability is not significant. It is conducive to improve the bank’s financial innovation ability, cost control ability and risk management capabilities in the overall performance of bank efficiency; and with the increasing investment and shareholding ratios in strategic investors, the beneficial effect to improve the efficiency of China’s commercial banks becomes more obvious. On the basis of empirical research, this article puts forward some suggestions in the management and introduction of strategic investors.
Differential Expression of the RANKL/RANK/OPG System Is Associated with Bone Metastasis in Human Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Abstract: Background Human non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients exhibit a high propensity to develop skeletal metastasis, resulting in excessive osteolytic activity. The RANKL/RANK/OPG system, which plays a pivotal role in bone remodeling by regulating osteoclast formation and activity, is of potential interest in this context. Materials and Methods Reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction, western blotting, and immunohistochemical analysis were used to examine the expression of RANKL, RANK, and OPG in human NSCLC cell lines with different metastatic potentials, as well as in 52 primary NSCLC samples and 75 NSCLC bone metastasis samples. In primary NSCLC patients, the expression of these proteins was correlated with clinicopathological parameters. Recombinant human RANKL and transfected RANKL cDNA were added to the PAa cell line to evaluate the promoter action of RANKL during the process of metastasis in vitro and in vivo. Results Up-regulated RANKL, RANK, and OPG expression and increased RANKL:OPG ratio were detected in NSCLC cell lines and in tumor tissues with bone metastasis, and were correlated with higher metastatic potential. The metastatic potential of NSCLC in vitro and in vivo, including migration and invasion ability, was significantly enhanced by recombinant human RANKL and the transfection of RANKL cDNA, and was impaired after OPG was added. The increased expression of RANKL and OPG correlated with tumor stage, lymph node metastasis, and distant metastasis. Conclusions Differential expression of RANKL, RANK, and OPG is associated with the metastatic potential of human NSCLC to skeleton, raising the possibility that the RANKL/RANK/OPG system could be a therapeutic target for the treatment of metastatic NSCLC patients.
