Cashlet Theory: Discovering the Nature of Accounting  [PDF]

Abstract: Accounting is the “language of business”, which records how our society works from the monetary aspect. Just like mathematics and science, accounting is one of the subjects that help people understand the world. However, accounting is not explained in a way that can be easily understood even for very basic concepts such as debit and credit. This article introduces a novel concept of cashlet into accounting area enlightened by chemistry. Cashlet is defined as a basic accounting unit with a value of negative one in the same way that electron is in chemistry. By comparing accounting transaction with chemical reaction, the author finds out that an accounting transaction is actually a process of transferring cashlets from one account to another just in the same way of a chemical redox reaction that transfers electrons from one chemical species to another. The account that gives cashlets is credited, while the account that takes cashlets is debited. Graphs are introduced to visualize the process. In cashlet theory, credit always means positive or plus (+), while debit always means negative or minus (-). Philosophically, when people give, they get credits; when people take, they get debits. The same idea is true in accounting. This article discovers that the nature of accounting is a process of moving cashlets between accounts and a process of recombining accounts, which simplifies the accounting concepts and helps people better understand the world through accounting.

Abstract: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C22H20N2, contains two crystallographically independent molecules in which the planar benzimidazole ring systems are oriented with respect to the adjacent tolyl rings at dihedral angles of 47.08 (8)/76.85 (8) and 39.52 (9)/87.49 (9)°, while the dihedral angles between the tolyl rings are 73.99 (3) and 81.51 (9)°. In the crystal structure, pairs of intermolecular C—H...N interactions link one of the asymmetric molecules into centrosymmetric dimers through R22(8) ring motifs.

Abstract: Considering generator rotor and valve by external disturbances for turbine regulating system, the nonlinear large disturbance attenuation controller and parameter updating law of turbine speed governor system are designed using backstepping method. The controller not only considers transmission line parameter uncer-tainty, and has attenuated the influences of large external disturbances on system output. The nonlinear con-troller does not have the sensitivity to the influences of external disturbances, but also has strong robustness for system parameters variation, which is because of the transmission line uncertainty being considered in internal disturbances. The simulation results show that the control effect of the large disturbance attenuation controller more advantages by comparing with the control performance of conventional nonlinear robust controller.

Abstract: This paper focuses on the transient protection of transmission line with FACTS Devices; the principle and mathematical model of static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) has been analyzed. And feasible control strategy has been proposed considering the voltage source inverter (VSI) as a core part of the FACTS components. The simulation results verify the rightness using electromagnetic transient simulation software PSCAD/EMTDC to set up electromagnetic transient model.
Genome Analysis of Cytochrome P450s and Their Expression Profiles in Insecticide Resistant Mosquitoes, Culex quinquefasciatus

Abstract: Here we report a study of the 204 P450 genes in the whole genome sequence of larvae and adult Culex quinquefasciatus mosquitoes. The expression profiles of the P450 genes were compared for susceptible (S-Lab) and resistant mosquito populations, two different field populations of mosquitoes (HAmCq and MAmCq), and field parental mosquitoes (HAmCq G0 and MAmCqG0) and their permethrin selected offspring (HAmCq G8 and MAmCqG6). While the majority of the P450 genes were expressed at a similar level between the field parental strains and their permethrin selected offspring, an up- or down-regulation feature in the P450 gene expression was observed following permethrin selection. Compared to their parental strains and the susceptible S-Lab strain, HAmCqG8 and MAmCqG6 were found to up-regulate 11 and 6% of total P450 genes in larvae and 7 and 4% in adults, respectively, while 5 and 11% were down-regulated in larvae and 4 and 2% in adults. Although the majority of these up- and down-regulated P450 genes appeared to be developmentally controlled, a few were either up- or down-regulated in both the larvae and adult stages. Interestingly, a different gene set was found to be up- or down-regulated in the HAmCqG8 and MAmCqG6 mosquito populations in response to insecticide selection. Several genes were identified as being up- or down-regulated in either the larvae or adults for both HAmCqG8 and MAmCqG6; of these, CYP6AA7 and CYP4C52v1 were up-regulated and CYP6BY3 was down-regulated across the life stages and populations of mosquitoes, suggesting a link with the permethrin selection in these mosquitoes. Taken together, the findings from this study indicate that not only are multiple P450 genes involved in insecticide resistance but up- or down-regulation of P450 genes may also be co-responsible for detoxification of insecticides, insecticide selection, and the homeostatic response of mosquitoes to changes in cellular environment.
Index-based Online Text Classification for SMS Spam Filtering

Abstract: We proposed a novel index-based online text classification method, investigated two index models, and compared the performances of various index granularities for English and Chinese SMS message. Based on the proposed method, six individual classifiers were implemented according to various text features of Chinese message, which were further combined to form an ensemble classifier. The experimental results from English corpus show that the relevant feature among words can increase the classification confidence and the trigram co-occurrence feature of words is an appropriate relevant feature. The experimental results from real Chinese corpus show that the performance of classifier applying word-level index model is better than the one applying document-level index model. The trigram segment outperforms the exact segment in indexing, so it is not necessary to segment Chinese text exactly when indexing by our proposed method. Applying parallel multi-thread ensemble learning, our proposed method has constant time complexity, which is critical to large scale data and online filtering.
Robust and Computationally Efficient Signal-Dependent Method for Joint DOA and Frequency Estimation

Abstract: The problem of joint direction of arrival (DOA) and frequency estimation is considered in this paper. A new method is proposed based on the signal-dependent multistage wiener filter (MWF). Compared with the classical subspace-based joint DOA and frequency estimators, the proposed method has two major advantages: (1) it provides a robust performance in the presence of colored noise; (2) it does not involve the estimation of covariance matrix and its eigendecomposition, and thus, yields much lower computational complexity. These advantages can potentially make the proposed method more feasible in practical applications. The conditional Cram r-Rao lower bound (CRB) on the error variance for joint DOA and frequency estimation is also derived. Both numerical and experimental results are used to demonstrate the performance of the proposed method.
