The text presents the idea of an existential minimum as a condition of possibility for the realization of the basic rights and liberties included in the first principle of justice of Rawls. It shows, however, to be insufficient for the full exercise of citizenship. Hence the need to expand the notion of "social minimum" (existential minimum) to the idea of "primary goods", considering the political conception of justice.
ética, direitos fundamentais e obediência à Constitui o
Weber, Thadeu
Veritas , 2006,
A democratic State of law puts its bases on principles of justice capable of universal validity. Applied to a constitution, such principles are objectivied in the fundamental rights and liberties of the citizens. The duty of obeying unjust laws, civil disobedience and consciousness objection presuppose a sense of justice and a conception of the good, that is, moral capacities of an “ethical person”.

Dynamics of Haematobia irritans irritans (Diptera: Muscidae) infestation on Nelore cattle in the Pantanal, Brazil
Barros, Antonio Thadeu M;
Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz , 2001, DOI: 10.1590/S0074-02762001000400002
Abstract: from june 1993 to may 1995, horn fly counts were conducted twice a month on untreated nelore cattle raised extensively in the pantanal. horn fly population showed a bimodal fluctuation and peaks were observed every year after the beginning (november/december) and at the end (may/june) of the rainy season, which coincided with mid-late spring and mid-late fall, respectively. horn flies were present on cattle throughout the year in at least 64% of the animals. mean horn fly numbers on animals did not exceed 85 flies/cow during peaks and were under 35 flies/cow in most of the remaining periods. the highest infestations (population peaks) were short and dropped suddenly within two weeks. less than 15% of the animals in both herds could be considered as "fly-susceptible" - showing consistently higher infestations, or "fly-resistant" - showing consistently lower infestations.
Seasonality and relative abundance of Tabanidae (Diptera) captured on horses in the Pantanal, Brazil
Barros, Antonio Thadeu M;
Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz , 2001, DOI: 10.1590/S0074-02762001000700006
Abstract: once a month, from june 1992 to may 1993, collections of tabanids on horse were conducted in the nhecolandia, pantanal state of mato grosso do sul, brazil. tabanid catches using hand nets were conducted from sunrise to sunset at grassland and cerrad?o (dense savanna) habitats. a total of 3,442 tabanids from 21 species,12 genera, and 3 subfamilies were collected. although species abundance varied seasonally depending on habitat, no habitat specificity was observed for the most abundant species. in the grassland, 1,625 (47.2%) tabanids belonging to 19 species were collected, while 1,817 (52.8%) tabanids from 17 species were caught in the cerrad?o. the number of tabanid species varied from 7 during winter (july/august) to 15 in the spring (october). tabanus importunus (56%) was the most abundant species, followed by t. occidentalis (8.2%), and t. claripennis (8.1%). the tabanid peak, in october, coincided with the beginning of the rainy season. the population peak of most species, including those with higher vector potential, suggests that the rainy season can be considered as the period of potentially higher risk of mechanical transmission of pathogens by tabanids to horses in the region.
Estudo das divergências entre corretores na avalia??o de provas em matemática
Moretti, Méricles Thadeu;
Avalia??o: Revista da Avalia??o da Educa??o Superior (Campinas) , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S1414-40772007000200006
Abstract: the purpose of the present study is to raise questions regarding the divergences among evaluators in respect to the grades attributed in mathematics exams. these interrogations are relevant since, in the university entrance exams, many important brazilian institutions adopt essay questions. when the exam is based on multiple choice, the correction is automatized and the error, if it occurs, can be easily spotted. also, there is an exact comprehension of the manner in which it affects all those who are taking the exam. this is not the case in essay question exams, in which the correction is not automatized and suffers significant influence of those who correct them. this study will show that certain elements present in the students' answers in the exam can bring about strong divergence among the evaluators. these divergences are an alert to the entrance exam committees, who must pursue some form of grade standardization for these exams.
