Palavras-chave: Brucella abortus, Circovírus suíno tipo 2, Salmonella spp., Streptococcus suis, taiassuídeos The tayassuideos are wild animals in the same taxonomic order of pigs (Artiodactyla) and, although belonging to different families, have more in common diseases, which are characterized by the same clinical signs, diagnosis and treatment. From the three species, two occur naturally in Brazil: Tayassu tajacu and Tayassu peccary, also known as collered peccary and white lipped peccary, respectively. The importance of the study of microorganisms found in these populations is because these animals can act as reservoirs of diseases to domestic animal, potential zoonotic risk and a problem to specie conservation. In this study, it was examined the occurrence of pathogenic microorganisms for pigs in tayassuideos from captivity and living free. The presence of Salmonella spp., Streptococcus suis, Brucella abortus and Porcine circ

Abstract: Polymers containing nanoparticles dispersed and distributed in the matrix can be used for control of drug release. In this work, hydrophilic matrix systems were prepared using poly(vinyl alcohol) and unmodified clay containing the same amount of cephalexin. The materials were obtained through in situ polymerization and were characterized by the conventional technique of FTIR and NMR relaxometry, through determination of proton spin-lattice relaxation time, in order to understand the molecular behavior of the new materials. The NMR relaxometry data showed that the new materials containing low quantities of clay (0.25% and 0.75%) and the same amount of cephalexin (0.5 g) had very good dispersion and distribution of the clay and drug in the polymer matrix. The combination of clay and cephalexin formed a more homogenous material with a narrow domain curve and low relaxation values. The material containing 0.25% clay presented a mixed morphology, with part exfoliated and part intercalated, as could be seen from the relaxation domain distribution, which was larger than that for material with 0.75% clay.

Abstract: The coleoborers use the wood to complete part of their cycle of life. In search for food they can make galleries and cause damages in the structure of the plant, allowing the entrance of pathogenic individuals that will harm the development of the crop. This research was carried out from January to May 2005 aiming to get information on the species of coleoborers associated to crop wastes in the area of mango crop, in José de Freitas county - Piauí. The insects had been collected in areas of Tommy Atkins, Keitt, Kent and Palmer varieties, in 10 fallen branches, with approximately 50 cm long and 2.5 cm of diameter, that were taken to the plant health laboratory of Centro de Ciências Agrárias in Universidade Federal do Piauí. The coleoborers were removed from the wood, assembled in entomologic pins and sent to the Instituto Biológico in S o Paulo SP for species identification. The coleoborers Hypothenemus sp. (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Scolytinae), Xyleborus sp. (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Scolytinae) and Orthostoma chryseis (Bates, 1970) (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) were found.

Abstract: in the context of universities and more specifically, of graduate school, this study aims to analyze, in an exploratory way, the dynamics of scientific capital distribution among teachers of a master's and doctorate's degree program at a public university. specifically, how teachers are distributed among those activities that allow them to accumulate pure scientific capital (such as publications and academic contributions to the field of knowledge) and institutional scientific capital (as occupying the positions that give them the power of decision within the field of science). bourdieu's approach (2003, 2004a; 2004b) about the scientific field was considered, because it allows us to apprehend the dynamics of capital distribution, which represents specific types of power. the approach was quantitative and qualitative, using documentary research in the curriculum lattes of twenty- three teachers participating of the program, which is located in a city in minas gerais (brazil) and belongs to the area of applied social sciences. as main results, the dynamics demonstrates (1) that mostly teachers occupy median positions within the distribution of capital, (2) it's difficult to accumulate both types of capital, (3) there isn't a polarization among teachers that have a strong accumulation of one kind of capital, and weak accumulation of the other capital, and (4) it's easier to convert institutional capital into pure scientific capital.
