An Investigation and Analysis of Information Overload in Manager's Work  [PDF]
Tao Li, Min Li
iBusiness (IB) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/ib.2011.31008
Abstract: The problem of information overload in management field has been receiving increasing attention, while there are less empirical researches now. This paper proposes a conceptual model and some operational variables, in which information overload is as an intervening variable between the factors of causes and impacts. An investigation and analysis has been conducted from a selected sample of managers. This research suggests that work efficiency and work quality are both not strongly connected with information overload. We also find that the main causes of information overload are the work interruption and work time pressure but the amount of information.
The Diagnosis and Treatments of Inguinal Hernia after Radical Prostatectomy  [PDF]
Tao Li, Zhiping Wang
Surgical Science (SS) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ss.2013.41015
Abstract:

Prostate cancer (PC) is one of the most common causes of cancer-related death in the world among old men. Radical prostatectomy (RP) is the most common surgical procedure in treatments. However, the complications after RRP always confuse surgeons. Urinary incontinence, impotence, erectile dysfunction frequently have effects on the quality of life after RP on patients occurred PC. Inguinal hernias (IHs) after RP is the most common complication, especially indirect hernias. Thus, patients occurred post-IH are frequently performed secondary surgery. In recent years, urologists have explored different surgical techniques, managements, and preoperationly detections to prevent the development of IH postoperationly. However, the precise mechanism of this procedure occurred is unclear till now. Some retrospective studies have been performed to explore the occurence of IH post-RRP and prophylactic techniques to prevent or decrease IH occurred after RRP. Disappointingly, there is no one efficient and precise method influenced this procedure occurred. We reviewed recent studies about IH after RP through different approaches to evaluate the development of this procedure.

An Investigation of the Present Living Condition of the Sericulturist Group in the Sericultural Area along the Jialing River Basin  [PDF]
Yijing Li, Hong Tao
Advances in Applied Sociology (AASoci) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/aasoci.2014.48024
Abstract: The Jialing River Basin sericultural area is an ancient mulberry growing and silkworm rearing area in China. In the period of Tang Dynasty and Song Dynasty, a lot of famous silk products were produced in this sericultural area. Until now, cocoon and silk are still the major source of revenue for local people, with sericulturists being the major group of people who grow mulberry and rear silkworms. This paper has adopted the method of field research and questionnaire survey to investigate the modern sericulturists in terms of ages, education level, acquisition of silkworm rearing skills, and the support of national policies etc., aiming to explore the reason why sericulture, as part of Chinese culture, can continue.
Distribution Prediction Correction Based on the Analysis of Job/Housing Balance between Old and New Districts  [PDF]
Tao Li, Hai Yan
Open Journal of Applied Sciences (OJAppS) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/ojapps.2017.72006
Abstract: The cities of China are in the period of rapid development of urbanization. The practical problems, which faced by urban traffic planning, include an effective prediction for the traffic volume. This paper, combining the example of Cangzhou’s traffic planning, analyzes the differences on land use between the new and the old district, including its influence to the residents. It also analyzes the relationship of travel features and the coefficient of job/housing balance in the new and the old district; furthermore, it corrects the result of traditional gravity model by using balance’s coefficient. Through this study, we find that the corrected model deals with the problem of travel forecasting’s deviation, which is closer to the physic truth. In the meanwhile, we suggested paying more attention to the relationship of land use and housing/jobs in the district plan, in this way, it will reduce the traffic demand radically and optimize the traffic structure.
The Analysis of an SIRS Epidemic Model with Discrete Delay on Scale-Free Network  [PDF]
Tao Li, Qiming Liu, Baochen Li
Applied Mathematics (AM) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/am.2015.611171
Abstract: A new epidemic SIRS model with discrete delay on scale-free network is presented. We give the formula of the basic reproductive number for the model and prove that the disease dies out when the basic reproductive number is less than unity, while the disease is uniformly persistent when the basic reproductive number is more than unity. Numerical simulations are given to demonstrate the main results.
An immune based dynamic intrusion detection model
Tao Li
Chinese Science Bulletin , 2005, DOI: 10.1007/BF03183665
Abstract: With the dynamic description method for self and antigen, and the concept of dynamic immune tolerance for lymphocytes in network-security domain presented in this paper, a new immune based dynamic intrusion detection model (Idid) is proposed. In Idid, the dynamic models and the corresponding recursive equations of the lifecycle of mature lymphocytes, and the immune memory are built. Therefore, the problem of the dynamic description of self and nonself in computer immune systems is solved, and the defect of the low efficiency of mature lymphocyte generating in traditional computer immune systems is overcome. Simulations of this model are performed, and the comparison experiment results show that the proposed dynamic intrusion detection model has a better adaptability than the traditional methods.
Risk Assessment in the Supply Chain Management Based on Fuzzy AHP Model

Progress in Applied Mathematics , 2012, DOI: 10.3968/j.pam.1925252820120401.z0073
Abstract: : In modern market economy, with the increasingly fierce business competition, supply chain management has become recognized as a business model. Each node enterprise in the supply chain must strengthen the supply chain risk management because of the management risk arising from supply chain management business model. Based on this, this paper provides scienti c basis for supply chain risk management decisions with evaluating comprehensively supply chain management risk from whole to part and making an empirical analysis. Key words: Supply chain; Supply chain management; Fuzzy AHP model;Risk assessment

Zhong Xi Yi Jie He Xue Bao , 2007,
Abstract: Objective: The research is aimed at investigating the developing rule and the relationship between syndrome differentiation in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and clinical factors of gastric cancer, so that it can be helpful to the clinical work and indicating the prognosis. Methods: We collected the medical records and the information of four diagnostic methods of 325 cases of gastric cancer sufferers in the way of clinical epidemiological survey, and divided them into 6 syndromes including dysfunction of spleen, disharmony of liver and stomach, blood stagnation in stomach, yin deficiency of stomach, phlegm dampness stagnation and deficiency of both qi and blood. Then we used univariate analysis of variance, rank sum test and chi square test to analyse the relationship between syndrome differentiation and clinical-related factors such as age, gender, Karnofsky score and clinical stage, etc. Results: The syndrome of dysfunction of spleen plays the primary role in the disease. Disharmony of liver and stomach always happens in early stage of stomach cancer, usually more often in radical operation cases and less in metastasis ones. It also has a high proportion in female. Phlegm dampness stagnation and blood stagnation in stomach usually can be seen in middle or advanced stage of the disease, which have lower Karnofsky score. Deficiency of both qi and blood is the syndrome of stomach cancer in advanced stage, which results in lower living quality, and with high rate of relapse and metastasis. Syndrome of yin deficiency of stomach has lower proportion in stomach cancer cases, and the clinical-related factors have low influence on it.Conclusion: Syndrome in TCM of gastric cancer is relevant to some clinical factors and varies in progress.

Abstract: Objective: The research is aimed at investigating the developing rule and the relationship between syndrome differentiation in traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and clinical factors of gastric cancer so as to guide clinical work and indicate prognosis. Then we used logistic regression analysis to analyze the relationship between syndrome differentiation and clinical-related factors such as age, gender, Karnofsky score and clinical stage, etc. Results: The syndrome spleen dysfunction is a dominant one among the syndromes of stomach cancer. Disharmony of liver and stomach always happens in early stage of stomach cancer and is frequently seen in women. Patients with syndrome of phlegm dampness stagnation or deficiency of both qi and blood have lower Karnofsky score and poorer living quality. Syndromes of blood stagnation in stomach and yin deficiency of stomach show no relationship with the clinical factors in this research. Conclusion: Syndrome differentiation in TCM of gastric cancer is related to some clinical factors to a certain extent.
Philosophic Perspective: A Comparative Study of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine
Tao Li
Asian Social Science , 2011, DOI: 10.5539/ass.v7n2p198
Abstract: This paper at first makes a comparative study of the two different paradigms of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Western medicine. The author holds that there are four essential differences between the two paradigms: the theory of Yin and Yang as well as five phases vs. modern natural science, experienced "black box" vs. objective anatomy, overall synthesis vs. concrete analysis, and "thought experiment" vs. scientific experiment. Next, from a dynamic view of theoretic development, the author deeply discusses TCM's defensive method, which influenced upon its evolution. This paper concludes that TCM will go on enlightening modern medicine with its traditional experiences and thinking methods; yet as a research programme which lacks evolutionary capacity, it will meet more challenges of Western medicine.
