Research Review on Professional Development of Preschool Teachers in China  [PDF]

At present, with the increasing emphasis extent on preschool education in China, preschool education gradually moves from the edge to the center in the entire national education system. And the professional development quality of preschool teachers is the key link and important path for the quality of preschool education development. Take the literatures on the research on professional development of preschool teachers collected by China National Knowledge Infrastructure as samples. The research topics are focused on the four fields of preschool teachers’ professional development, including connotation, professional standards, influencing factors and strategies, and making an in-depth analysis of the research status of the professional development of preschool teachers in China. However, at present, there are still some deficiencies in the research on the professional development of preschool teachers in China. First, the theoretical research on preschool teacher professional development is still shallow, and it still needs to learn from foreign research results. Second, the professional standards of preschool teachers are not strong adaptability, whose operabil-ity is still needed to improve. Third, there is a lack of empirical basis for re-search on influencing factors of preschool teachers’ professional develop-ment; it is urgent to strengthen quantitative research. Fourth, the strategy research of preschool teachers’ professional development lacks practicality, so it is urgent to enhance the effectiveness of research.
Analysis of China’s Core Literacy Research Based on Keyword Clustering  [PDF]

Abstract: At present, core literacy has become a hot topic in the field of education research in China. By combing the relevant achievements of China’s core literacy research, researchers can have a further insight into the research status of this field, which has important implications for the future development of?China’s core literacy research,?in this study, taking the 376 core literacy-related?periodical papers of “Core Journals” and “CSSCI” in CNKI as the research object. BICOMB and SPSS software are used to knowledge map visualization?and?analyze?the published date, published author unit, journal publication amount, high-frequency keyword confirmation, high-frequency keyword matrix analysis,?and others?of literature data. The results show China’s current core literacy research mainly around on the following four areas. One is research on strengthening morality education and student’s?developing?core literacy and its personnel training. Two is basic education curriculum teaching reform based on core literacy and its practical research. Three is research on discipline core accomplishment and classroom teaching and its cultivation path. Four is research on school-based curriculum and its development under the perspective of core accomplishment. Finally, on the basis of summarizing the conclusions of this study, the author puts forward the deficiencies of the research and suggestions for future core literacy research.
Simultaneous quantification of lopinavir and ritonavir in human plasma by high performance liquid chromatography coupled with UV detection

Abstract: High performance liquid chromatography was coupled with UV detection for simultaneous quantification of lopinavir (LPV) and ritonavir (RTV) in human plasma. This assay was sensitive, accurate and simple, and only used 200 μL of plasma sample. Samples were liquid-liquid extracted, and diazepam was used as an internal standard. The chromatographic separation was achieved on a C18 reversed-phase analytic column with a mobile phase of acetonitrile-sodium dihydrogen phosphate buffer (10 mmol L 1, pH 4.80) (60:40, v/v). UV detection was conducted at 205 nm and the column oven was set at 40°C. Calibration curves were constructed between 0.5–20 μg mL 1 for LPV and 0.05–5 μg mL 1 for RTV. The relative standard deviations were 2.16%–3.20% for LPV and 2.12%–2.60% for RTV for intra-day analysis, and 2.34%–4.04% for LPV and 0.31%–4.94% for RTV for inter-day analysis. The accuracy was within 100%±10%. The mean extraction recoveries were 79.17%, 52.26% and 91.35% for RTV, LPV and diazepam, respectively. This method was successfully applied to human plasma samples from patients orally administered a salvage regimen of lopinavir-ritonavir tablets.
Comparison of Nevirapine Plasma Concentrations between Lead-In and Steady-State Periods in Chinese HIV-Infected Patients

Abstract: Objectives To investigate the potential of nevirapine 200 mg once-daily regimen and evaluate the influence of patient characteristics on nevirapine concentrations. Methods This was a prospective, multicentre cohort study with 532 HIV-infected patients receiving nevirapine as a part of their initial antiretroviral therapy. Plasma samples were collected at trough or peak time at the end of week 2 (lead-in period) and week 4, 12, 24, 36, and 48 (steady-state period), and nevirapine concentrations were determined using a validated HPLC method. Potential influencing factors associated with nevirapine concentrations were evaluated using univariate and multivariate logistic regression. Results A total of 2348 nevirapine plasma concentrations were collected, including 1510 trough and 838 peak values. The median nevirapine trough and peak concentration during the lead-in period were 4.26 μg/mL (IQR 3.05–5.61) and 5.07 μg/mL (IQR 3.92–6.44) respectively, which both exceeded the recommended thresholds of nevirapine plasma concentrations. Baseline hepatic function had a moderate effect on median nevirapine trough concentrations at week 2 (4.25 μg/mL v.s. 4.86 μg/mL, for ALT <1.5×ULN and ≥1.5×ULN, respectively, P = 0.045). No significant difference was observed in median nevirapine trough concentration between lead-in and steady-state periods in patients with baseline ALT and AST level ≥1.5×ULN (P = 0.171, P = 0.769), which was different from the patients with ALT/AST level <1.5ULN. The median trough concentrations were significantly higher in HIV/HCV co-infected patients than those without HCV at week 48 (8.16 μg/mL v.s. 6.15 μg/mL, P = 0.004). Conclusions The 200 mg once-daily regimen of nevirapine might be comparable to twice-daily in plasma pharmacokinetics in Chinese population. Hepatic function prior to nevirapine treatment and HIV/HCV coinfection were significantly associated with nevirapine concentrations. Registration Clinicaltrial.gov ID: NCT00872417
Nevirapine Plasma Concentrations Are Associated with Virologic Response and Hepatotoxicity in Chinese Patients with HIV Infection

Abstract: Background Limited information is available on the relationship between nevirapine plasma concentrations and virologic response or liver toxicity in Chinese patients with HIV infection. The objective of this prospective study was to test this relationship and to determine the minimal therapeutic trough concentration of nevirapine for Chinese patients. Methods A total of 227 HIV-infected, treatment na?ve patients were enrolled into this study. Blood samples were taken at Ctrough (12 hr postdose) and C2 (2 hr postdose) for measurement of nevirapine concentrations 6 months after treatment initiation. Therapeutic outcomes, viral load and CD4 cell count, were assessed at 3 and 6 months after starting therapy, while the evaluation of hepatotoxicity was undertaken 12 months after nevirapine treatment. Results A significant correlation between nevirapine trough concentrations and viral load was noticed after 6 months of treatment, particularly in patients with partial response and viral failure (p<0.01). The therapeutic Ctrough of nevirapine for Chinese patients was determined to be 3.9 μg/ml using the receiver operating characteristic curve. Virologic failure was observed in 21% (6/29) of patients with low nevirapine concentrations (<3.9 μg/ml) versus 5% (4/87) in patients with concentrations higher than 3.9 μg/ml (p = 0.015). Hepatotoxicity was significantly associated with the median nevirapine trough concentrations among male patients (8.20 vs. 5.48 μg/ml, p = 0.015) and hepatitis C virus co-infection (p = 0.039). Conclusions Among Chinese patients with HIV infection, the therapeutic Ctrough of nevirapine was 3.9 μg/ml, higher than the recommended 3.0 μg/ml. The correlation between nevirapine concentrations, efficacy and hepatotoxicity suggests the benefit of dosage adjustment based on therapeutic drug monitoring among Chinese HIV-infected patients to optimize nevirapine containing antiretroviral therapy.
Under the Shadow of the Magellanic Bridge: A Measurement of the Extragalactic Background at $\sim 0.7$~keV

Abstract: We measured the extragalactic 0.7 keV X-ray background by observing the X-ray shadow of a neutral gas cloud in the Magellanic Bridge region. Two \rosat PSPC observations of total 104~ks were complemented by a detailed H I mapping of the cloud with both the Parkes 64~m telescope and the Australia Telescope Compact Array. From the detected anti-correlation between the observed background intensity and the \ion{H}{1} column density of the cloud, we derived the unabsorbed extragalactic background intensity as 28 keV s^{-1} cm^{-2} keV^{-1} sr^{-1} at 0.7~keV. The 95% confidence lower limit 18 keV s^{-1} cm^{-2} keV^ {-1} sr^{-1}} is greater than the expected point-like source contribution < 14 keV s^{-1} cm^{-2} keV^{-1} sr^{-1}, constrained by the mean source spectrum together with the total background intensity in the 1-2 keV band. A significant fraction of the 0.7 keV background likely arises in a diffuse hot intergalactic medium of a few million degrees, as has been predicted in hydrodynamic simulations of cosmological structure formation.
Reference ranges and age-related changes of peripheral blood lymphocyte subsets in Chinese healthy adults

Abstract: This study was performed to build region-specific reference ranges of peripheral blood lymphocyte subsets for Chinese healthy adults from the young to the elderly and analyze the trends of changes in lymphocyte subsets for evaluating the impact of age on the values. 151 healthy adults aged 19–86 were recruited based on the SENIEUR protocol. Three sets of reference ranges were finally built applicable for the healthy young (19–44 years), middle-aged (45–64 years) and elder adults ( 65). Comparisons in parameters among the three cohorts showed that a statistically significant increase in CD16CD56+ NK cell was observed between the middle-aged and elder cohorts, whereas for the majority of the parameters, a significant decline was observed between the young and the middle-aged cohorts. Further results showed that inverse correlations were observed between the age and CD19+ B, CD3+ T, CD3+CD4+ T, CD4+CD45RA+CD62L+ na ve T cell and CD4+CD28+/CD4+, while the positive one was identified between the age and the NK cell. These significant changes of the most of immune parameters provided evidence for immunosenescence. Notably, T cell activation markers of CD8+CD38+ and CD8+HLA-DR+ showed reverse trends of association with age, which provides a clue for further researches on the mechanisms underlying the paradoxical clinical presentation of the elder patients.
HIV-specific CD8+ T cell responses to HXB2 Gag and Nef peptide pools in Chinese HIV/AIDS patients

Abstract: HXB2 is primarily used as a template strain in developing HIV vaccines in Europe and the US. However, it is not yet known whether the strain can induce strong HIV-specific CD8+ T cell responses in Chinese HIV/AIDS patients. In the present study, two groups of subjects were investigated: 9 AIDS patients and 7 long-term nonprogressors (LTNPs). HIV-specific CD8+ T cell responses were examined in all patients through the ELISPOT assay. CD4+ T cell counts, CD8+ T cell counts, viral load and HIV subtype of each patient were also measured. Thailand B virus strain was identified among all the patients. The breadth and magnitude of HIV-specific CD8+ T cell responses in the LTNPs group are greater than those in the AIDS group (P<0.01). There is a positive correlation between magnitude of HIV-specific CD8+ T cell responses and CD4+ T cells, and a negative correlation between HIV-specific CD8+ T cell responses and mean viral load. In summary, the HIV-specific CD8+ T cell responses to the HXB2 Gag and Nef peptide pools are considerable in Chinese HIV/AIDS patients infected with Thailand B virus strain. HIV-1 vaccines based on HXB2 strain that can induce extensive immunity may be helpful for Chinese.
Scaling Up Stomatal Conductance from Leaf to Canopy Using a Dual-Leaf Model for Estimating Crop Evapotranspiration

Abstract: The dual-source Shuttleworth-Wallace model has been widely used to estimate and partition crop evapotranspiration (λET). Canopy stomatal conductance (Gsc), an essential parameter of the model, is often calculated by scaling up leaf stomatal conductance, considering the canopy as one single leaf in a so-called “big-leaf” model. However, Gsc can be overestimated or underestimated depending on leaf area index level in the big-leaf model, due to a non-linear stomatal response to light. A dual-leaf model, scaling up Gsc from leaf to canopy, was developed in this study. The non-linear stomata-light relationship was incorporated by dividing the canopy into sunlit and shaded fractions and calculating each fraction separately according to absorbed irradiances. The model includes: (1) the absorbed irradiance, determined by separately integrating the sunlit and shaded leaves with consideration of both beam and diffuse radiation; (2) leaf area for the sunlit and shaded fractions; and (3) a leaf conductance model that accounts for the response of stomata to PAR, vapor pressure deficit and available soil water. In contrast to the significant errors of Gsc in the big-leaf model, the predicted Gsc using the dual-leaf model had a high degree of data-model agreement; the slope of the linear regression between daytime predictions and measurements was 1.01 (R2 = 0.98), with RMSE of 0.6120 mm s?1 for four clear-sky days in different growth stages. The estimates of half-hourly λET using the dual-source dual-leaf model (DSDL) agreed well with measurements and the error was within 5% during two growing seasons of maize with differing hydrometeorological and management strategies. Moreover, the estimates of soil evaporation using the DSDL model closely matched actual measurements. Our results indicate that the DSDL model can produce more accurate estimation of Gsc and λET, compared to the big-leaf model, and thus is an effective alternative approach for estimating and partitioning λET.
