Knji?nica : Revija za Podro?je Bibliotekarstva in Informacijske Znanosti , 2005,
Abstract: A library home page should be a document providing information about library, its various services to and activities for the users. The purpose of the present research was an evaluation of the actual state of-the-art of library home pages of Slovene medical libraries, and a set of suggestions is offered for their improvement. The results of the research, based on the sample of medical libraries partaining to the Ljubljana medical circle, indicate that posibilities offered by databases accessible on internet are unutilizied. Medical libraries mostly use their web sites for presentation of their activities in a fairly rigid and unchanging format, including general information on the library, e-mail, mailing adresses, library regulations, but without much interactive information. The article indicates the necessity for improvement of the present state and offers a few advices on how to achieve the positive change.

Tanja Curhalek
Knji?nica : Revija za Podro?je Bibliotekarstva in Informacijske Znanosti , 2003,
Abstract: Music libraries and collections with their materials, equipment and activities differ from general libraries, which mostly contain book materials. Library users are searching daily for more non-book music materials, specific for music libraries and collections, therefore detailed research on the situation and organization of such libraries and collections should be made. A detailed research was carried out on comprehensive Slovenian music libraries and collections. Consequently, a view was obtained of the situation of music librarianship in Slovenia, using a questionnaire and by communicating with librarians of the Music Collection of the National and University Library in Ljubljana, the Library of Department of Musicology at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana and the Library of the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, during the years 2000 and 2002. The research showed that music librarianship is not developed enough and that the Slovene public knows little about it, while in foreign countries libraries are contemporarily developed, well organized and extended, forming professional associations.

Revista Interamericana de Bibliotecología , 2005,
Abstract: this is a study of some of the factors that most affect library performance, emphasizing that libraries do not exist for their own sake nor do they survive in isolation. in the realm of special and academic libraries, one of the most important functions is that of satisfying user demand. in order for an administrator to plan and make decisions, evaluation becomes an important tool. this article reports on a research project carried out in the special library of the instituto de pesquisas energéticas e nucleares (ipen) using the model of servqual, which identifies the difference between user expectations and user satisfaction with the services offered by the library. the study was carried out during the second semester of 2003, using an electronic questionnaire involving 620 users in the scientific community of ipen, 80% of whom responded to the questionnaire. on the basis of the analysis of the results, it became evident that the services offered by the library approximate the ideal expectations of the users. nevertheless, there remains room for improvement in some areas.

Ur?ula Tarfila,Primo? Ju?ni?
Knji?nica : Revija za Podro?je Bibliotekarstva in Informacijske Znanosti , 2011,
Abstract: Purpose: The aim of the research was to explore if information literacy instruction of Slovenian special library users has been improved since the last study in the year 2002,and if so, in which directions.Methodology/approach: Web-based survey was used to collect data from special libraries;the results were then compared with the findings of the survey carried out in 2002.Results: The results show that information literacy instruction of special library users has remained more or less unchanged. In the 2010 survey included special librarians are aware of the importance of developing information literacy but they are restricted by work overload, lack of resources and time, or are unskilled to perform this activity. As compared to the year 2002, a noticeable change has been observed only in the higher level of co-operation between special libraries and departments of their parent organizations.Research limitation: The sample size of both studies was not even, for advanced understanding of some results additional research methods should be used.Originality/practical implications: The study should stimulate special libraries to make a step forward in developing user instruction. However, information literacy is a core skill of the active working population and the driving force of innovation and competitiveness of the parent organization.
