Carbon Nanotube Reinforced Ceramic Matrix Composites- A Review  [PDF]
Subhranshu Sekhar Samal, Smrutisikha Bal
Journal of Minerals and Materials Characterization and Engineering (JMMCE) , 2008, DOI: 10.4236/jmmce.2008.74028
Abstract: This paper provides an overview of recent advances reported in literature in ceramics matrix composites research in the context of reinforcement with carbon nanotubes. Current state of research has indicated the potential of these nanocomposites but at the same time, has illustrated the significant challenges in processing and improving properties. Fundamental work in processing, characterization and analysis is important before the structural properties of this new class of nanocomposites can be optimized. The fields of the nanocomposite materials have received a lot of attention and close scrutiny of scientists and engineers in recent years. This scrutiny results from the simple premise that using building blocks with dimensions in the nanometer range makes it possible to design and create new materials with unprecedented flexibility. The driving force behind the fabrication of novel nanocomposites is to achieve high functional properties for high end applications.

A Pure Capital Market Complementarity between Immigrants and Natives  [PDF]
Adolfo Cristóbal Campoamor
Modern Economy (ME) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/me.2015.612118
Abstract: This work presents a model aiming to evaluate the impact of rural-urban migration on the aggregate stock of loanable funds and investment by the urban population. Much higher investment costs for immigrants in cities prevent their acquisition of either human or physical capital. That is the reason why immigrants self-select as net lenders and affect urban labor earnings by means of the availability of new loanable funds for investment. This reduces the local interest rates and facilitates urban aggregate investment, especially by the new generations of natives. As a result of that, the aggregate labor income of natives increases unambiguously with the size of new immigration waves.
High Frequency Oscillator Design Using a Single 45 nm CMOS Current Controlled Current Conveyor (CCCII+) with Minimum Passive Components  [PDF]
Mohd Yusuf Yasin, Bal Gopal
Circuits and Systems (CS) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/cs.2011.22009
Abstract: In the field of analog VLSI design, current conveyors have reasonably established their identity as an important circuit design element. In the literature published during the past few years, numerous application have been reported which are based on a variety of current conveyors. In this paper, an oscillator circuit has been proposed. This oscillator is designed using a single positive type second generation current controlled current conveyor (CCCII+). A CCCII has parasitic input resistance on it’s current input node. This resistance could be exploited to reduce circuit complexities. Thus in this accord, a novel oscillator circuit is proposed which utilizes the parasitic resistance of the CCCII+ along with a few more passive components.
Swelling Properties of New Hydrogels Based on the Dimethyl Amino Ethyl Acrylate Methyl Chloride Quaternary Salt with Acrylic Acid and 2-Methylene Butane-1,4-Dioic Acid Monomers in Aqueous Solutions  [PDF]
Issa Katime, Eduardo Mendizábal
Materials Sciences and Applications (MSA) , 2010, DOI: 10.4236/msa.2010.13026
Abstract: Hydrogels of dimethylaminoethyl acrylate methyl chloride quaternary salt (Q9) have been synthesized with different monomer ratio by copolymerization of this poorly studied monomer either with acrylic acid or with 2-methylene bu-tane-1,4-dioic acid. Hydrogel swelling was measured as a function of the composition of the hydrogel and of the crosslinking agent ratio. High values of swelling have been obtained at very high crosslinking values (< 14 wt %) and the equilibrium swelling was reached at very low time (less than 15 minutes). The swelling isotherms consisted of a steep initial portion and then levelled off as asymptotically to the equilibrium swelling limit. The experimental data suggest clearly that the swelling process obeys second-order kinetics. According to this, the kinetics rate constant and the equilibrium water content were determined at different comonomer composition and crosslinker concentration. The calculated kinetic constants ranged from 0.48 to 3.76 × 10-2 min-1 for poly (acrylic acid-co-Q9) hydrogels and from 0.68 to 4.0 × 10-2 min-1 for poly (2-methylene butane-1,4-dioic acid-co-Q9) hydrogels depending on the hydrogels composition. The diffusion process was evaluated for each hydrogel showing a non-Fickian type diffusion. In all cases was observed a considerable increase in diffusion coefficient as Q9 content increases.
Las implicaciones morales de la neuroeconomía
Monasterio,Aníbal;
Frónesis , 2005,
Abstract: commercial advertisements and promotions of multiple brand names compete with each other in order to place themselves in the visual imaginary of customers, and subsequently to have more possibilities to be chosen. as would be expected, sometimes these aggressive strategies are carried out with fraudulent methods that have no moral justification. consumers? rights to privacy, freedom of choice and election, safety, and the right to be heard, are under threat with the increasing development of neuro-scientific family studies. herein we denounce the initial steps of a new manner of marketing aided by sophisticated tools, that surpass what could be consider ethically honest methods in consumer promotions
Dom Quixote e os moinhos de vento na América Latina
Quijano, Aníbal;
Estudos Avan?ados , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-40142005000300002
Abstract: this text discusses the formation of latin america, its place and role in configuring the "coloniality of power" as the world's dominant power pattern, and in the emergence of western europe as the control center for this standard. it also discusses eurocentrism, the continent's hegemonic mode of producing and controlling knowledge - distant from, and opposed to the legacy of don quixote.
Configuración del sujeto histórico: Consideraciones preliminares sobre su actualidad y sobre su problemática historicidad
Fornari,Aníbal;
T?3picos , 2006,
Abstract: the abandoned issue of the historical subject since the merely negative and somewhat superficial de-construction of the mega-narration proper of the uppermost modern philosophy, retakes its philosphical actuality at the moment of the so called globalization, coincident with a general decadence of the political culture and responsability. this matter is pressing for those who, for different reasons, do not adjust themselves to the bewilderment or cannot agree with it, either because of the concience of the task that historical existence implies, or because of the pressure that its position, in some way determinating, recieves in contemporary history. a. approaches the subject from a preliminary raising of the -divided in two parts- that tries to demonstrate first, from the actual redimensioning of the decisive importance of the civil society for an alive democracy, the necesity to approach the sense of the configuration of the historical subject; secondly, it shows the decisiveness of a recapitulation, in connection with the previous matter of the founding experience and of the basic theses that determinated the powerful modern revival of this question, under the sign of the "colective subject", to define the horizon of a new tratement of it.
Razonabilidad política y razón cultural: Proyección crítica de la idea de razón pública en John Rawls
Fornari,Aníbal;
T?3picos , 2003,
Abstract: in this essay the idea of "public reason" of john rawls in his potentiality is examined and projected, firstly, with regard to the rationality of certain fundamental human rights, as the freedom of conscience, the freedom of education and of association, which a democratic constitutional state shaped on the ground of the political conception of the justice as fairness, must guarantee in the framework of a reasonable pluralism. secondly, i aim to show starting from some anthropological topics developed from st augustin and h. arendt, the ontological base of the cultural and political pluralism, to articulate it with the theory of the political liberalism and its conception of the political unit of the state. thirdly, the tension between ′the rational thing` and ′the reasonable thing` in rawls is analyzed and checked, to show the anchorage of a dual conceptuation, cultural and political of the public reason. finally, i trace in the theoretical frame of the political liberalism the dialectics of the public dual reason in an alive democracy.
Venir al mundo-de-la-vida: Ontología del nacimiento y ampliación de la razón
Fornari,Aníbal;
T?3picos , 2008,
Abstract: the article reflects, 1) by way of introduction, on the ontological dimension of event, starting from a phenomenology of birth, as a key to a methodological widening of the exercising of reason and to a broadening of its subject-matter. with this aim, and as a whole, this article moves mainly through the thought of claude romano, also picking up precise commentaries of paul ricoeur's and romano guardini's. then, it deals with the difference and the relation between "fact" and "event", briefly analyzing the theme's anticipation in decisive instances of philosophical tradition, in which reason's competence is acclaimed (aristotle, husserl). 3) inasmuch as being born from and for event, concerns appropriately only the self [as i], an inquiry about the rigorous and non transferable conceptual meaning corresponding to the word "self"[as i] is carried out, starting from the experience of self: transcendental and existential. event, inherent to the complete human dynamics, opens finitude up from top to bottom, and is, as such, transgression of the totality of existence in finitude (heidegger); this derives into the correlation of event, transfiguration of the world and exceptionality of the self as upcoming. 5) the mutual implication among ontology of birth, broadening of reason and expansion of freedom finally leads to reflect upon the enigma of ipseity, which is impossible starting from sameness and only eventual from alterity/otherness. the bond between alterity and birth raises the issue of the relation, as regards the [subject] arrived-at-the-world, between the history and his/her history. being born and existing in the ontological dimension of event is to exceed every power of appropriation, self- as much as others'. in reference to the alterity of the immemorial and non appropriable past, birth opens the upcoming self up to a prospect further than any project, and in doing so, takes the base off future-to-come, to which no limit can be set for it belongs to the regi
