Abstract: Block (1975) extended bivariate exponential distributions (BVEDs) of Freund (1961)and Proschan and Sullo (1974) to multivariate case and called them as Generalized Freund-Weinman's multivariate exponential distributions (MVEDs). In this paper, we obtain MLEs of theparameters and large sample test for testing independence and symmetry of k components in thegeneralized Freund-Weinman's MVEDs.

Abstract: We propose a bivariate Weibull regression model with frailty which is generated bypower variance function distribution. We assume that the bivariate survival data follow bivariateWeibull of Hanagal (2005a) and distribution of censoring variable is independent of the two lifetimes. There are some interesting situations like survival times in genetic epidemiology, survivaltimes of dental implants of patients and survival times of twin births (both monozygotic anddizygotic) where genetic behavior (which is unknown and random) of patients follows a powervariance function frailty distribution. These are the situations which motivate to study thisparticular model. We propose two stage maximum likelihood estimation procedure for theparameters and develop large sample tests for no frailty and the significance of regressionparameters in the proposed model.

Abstract: the failures in adhesion will turn into failures at different levels of the interface. there can be (1) adhesive failures, between the enamel and the adhesive material, dentine and the adhesive material, composite and the adhesive material; or (2) cohesive failures, in enamel, dentine, composite or adhesive material. the different reasons that lead to such situation as well as the aspects that influence the studied interfaces are analysed here.

Abstract: Shallow slope failure is often induced by rainfall infiltration in a soil mantle overlying a less permeable bedrock. Soil depth is an important input parameter in slope stability analysis. This paper provides the spatial variation of soil depth and the occurrence of slope failure in Sangun mountains area. The spatial pattern of soil depth was simulated by proses based model using airborne laser survey data (LiDAR data) and Geographic Information System (GIS) function. As a function for soil production, we use in the study area a numerical model developed by Dietrichet al.(1995) to predict the local spatial variation of the depth of soil. The soil depth data measured at 20 locations that represent morphological variability are used as a sample data set to test the model results. Furthermore, the soil depth variations are compared to the slope failure distribution in the whole area. Slope failure locations in the study area are identified from interpretation of aerial photographs and field surveys. Fifty-five of slope failures are considered for slope failure hazard analysis. Therefore, the slope failures occur more frequently at soil depth intervals in the ranged from 1.01 m to 1.5 m.

Abstract:
Accounting and auditing failures are still a hot topic despite strong efforts for efficient corporate governance. The motives and attitudes behind decisions and events leading to Enron’s eventual downfall appear to be simple. It is individual and collective greed born in an atmosphere of market loose of regulation. The financial results of the company were too good to be true and no sound was heard to criticize the company albeit very few opinions. It was a network to deceive stakeholders. Saudi Arabia government has sought to change its oil-based economy into a modern diversified economy with a more trend towards privatization consistent with 2030 vision “a vibrant society, a thriving economy and an ambitious nation” and in this situation an effective, transparent, accountable, enabling and high-performing government and corporations are an essential pillar for success in order to advance economy including stock market. Corporate governance is intended to increase accountability of corporations and to avoid problems before they occur. An accounting scandal at one of Saudi Arabia’s largest telecommunications companies is posing pressure on regulators, as Saudi Arabia moves to open up the Arab world’s largest stock market to foreign investors. The Capital Market Regulator in Saudi Arabia banned Deloitte’s firm (Bakr Abulkhair & Co.) from auditing public companies as of June 1st, 2015, on account of its work for the targeted loss-making company MMG (Mohammad Al Mojil Group). Another scandal in Saudi Arabia is Etihad Etisalat, known as (Mobily), as company’s audit committee pointed in their perspective to accounting errors that decreased about $380 million in previous profits. The aim of this research is to explore what went wrong and the violations of corporate governance rules by highlighting corporate accounting and auditing scandals in MMG (Mohammad Al Mojil Group) and Etihad Etisalat, known as (Mobily). Although what happened at Enron is very well known worldwide, the corporate accounting and auditing failures in the case of Saudi Arabia is unprecedented territory of research.

Abstract: the paper studies the reliability (sensor and actuator failures) of the asymptotic disturbance rejection problem for linear time invariant systems using the factorization approach, assuming that not all loops fail simultaneously and that sensor and actuator do not fail simultaneously. the plant is two-output, i.e. two-vector-output, and the disturbance is at the measured output of the plant. necessary and sufficient conditions are presented for the general problem and a simple solution is given for problems with stable plants.

Abstract: correct identification of the causes of dental anesthetic failure is essential in order to adopt the required measures for successful anesthesia. a review is made of the factors implicated in locoregional anesthesia failure, such as a bifid inferior alveolar nerve, retromolar foramen associated to accessory innervation, double or accessory mental foramen, the relation between the infiltration technique and bone density, accessory innervation in the case of the mylohyoid nerve and first cervical branches, cross innervation of the incisors, inactivity in the presence of tissue inflammation, inactive anesthetic solutions, an incorrect technique, and subjective perception on the part of particularly anxious patients. the therapeutic options available in the event such problems are encountered in routine clinical practice are commented.

Abstract: memory failures are common in daily life. however, these failures could indicate cognitive problems, mainly in elders. this study presents the translation and adaptation of the prospective and retrospective memory questionnaire (prmq) to portuguese. the questionnaire measures prospective and retrospective self-report memory failures through 16 items. there were 642 participants aged between 16 and 81 years recruited in a university and in community groups. the exploratory factor analysis revealed the construct validity only for eight items. so, it was reconsidered two of the original 16 items that showed acceptable factorial load and tested a questionnaire of 10 items. convergent and concurrent validity was tested in a sample of 38 participants aged around 69 years, through the elders' subjective perception of memory complaints questionnaire (mac-q). as a result the reduced prmq with 10 items showed both validity and confidence (a = 0,80). at this point the questionnaire seems promising for research using.
Investigation into the Causes of Electric Transmission Concrete Pole Failures

Abstract: The major causes of electric concrete pole failures has been highlighted in this paper and possible solutions suggested. The technique involves an on-site assessment and analysis of some factors that influence the design and manufacture of concrete pole commonly used for electrification purpose. Some major manufacturers in Niger State, Kwara State and Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Nigeria were visited and interview conducted on their method of design and manufacture of electric transmission concrete pole. Site study of some major high-tension and low-tension electrification work was also carried out. Based on observation made anomalies in concrete pole manufacture were pointed out and solution proffered. Finally concrete pole suitable for electrification purpose was designed and constructed. A rig was constructed to test the strength of the pole, thereby determining their suitability for electrification work.

Abstract: Despite rapid advances in all facets of technology, the software industry still struggles with the formidable task of developing software applications that meet quality standards, and budget constraints. The need for software to be error-free remained a challenge to the IT industry. Therefore, the primary purpose of this study is to answer why executives reluctant to allocate resources to quality assurance (QA) process during the process of the system development life cycle (SDLC)? This research used a qualitative study design to investigate to what extent the involvement of QA during the SDLC process reduced software project failures. The data were analyzed using inductive methods and was intended to be generalized to the entire IT software development population. Participants were selected from major cities of the 50 United States that fit study criteria. The research indicated a sense that inclusion of QA in all phases of SDLC was an excellent phenomenon.
