Abstract: this text aims to reflect about the treatment of cultural heritage in sao paulo, which involves considering, firstly, the registration as a measure of public protection and enhancement of the cultural heritage and, secondly, decisions that lead to revoke a deferred protection and contribute to distortion of the cultural heritage, their abandonment and often, their demolition.

Abstract: this paper analyzes two experiences of risk research to world heritage. one of them was held by federal technology institute of technology in peru and the other one by the team of noah's ark, university of bologna. the examination of both tests enables different understandings of heritage, different ways of conceiving the incidence of risk to heritage, as well as some reasons that may explain the difficulty in implementing actions to reduce, prevent or avoid the impact of threats.

Abstract: meeting professor maria helena patto at the undergraduate program in psychology profoundly influenced my theoretical, political, and professional options. her ideas and positions acquired more sense throughout her supervision when preparing my dissertation and doctoral thesis. in the dissertation, i heard a group of poor children to analyze the changes at the representation of school suffered during the first year of frequency in this institution. the thesis investigates how the school took control of the basic cycle, in order to understand the process of change they were getting through. in these studies, it became clear that it needs to grasp the perspective of various individuals who are part of educational institutions and seek to situate the historical facts, considering relations with the socio-economic, political and cultural context. that and the ability to get disgusted in situations that violate human dignity are a part of my learning from maria helena.

Abstract: this article puts forth the representation of school in a group of poor children throughout their first year in school. interviews were introduced and adaptations of two procedures (story-draws and stories to be completed) were utilized. the analysis showed that the representation had a negative progress. classroom observations and interviews made with teachers revealed pedagogical incompetence and negative attitudes towards the impoverished child and his or her family. the parents, who see in the child?s academic career a hope for better days to come, try to shape the child according to the mold established by the school. the result is academic failure and the diminishing of the children?s self-esteem.

Abstract: this article is part of a comprehensive research on community nurseries in the city of fortaleza. it represents the analysis of recorded questionnaires applied to 25 nursery assistants and 48 customer families. the assistants demonstrate some prejudice, besides lack of information about the children and families under their care, due to a generally short (or absence of) period of training and professional formation. the families also have neither education and political conditions nor information to property analyze the service available in the nurseries. furthermore, both groups seem to be in need for better parameters of social care and assistance, assuming this service as a gift or a privilege beyond criticism. the work unveils the absence of adequate structure to offer good services in these institutions. finally, it reinforces the urging need for democratization of information about the real and specific needs of early childhood. this information should be directed to ngo's, families and other groups interested in these problems, in order to help them in the search and discussion of strategies and solutions for nursery services.
Professional competences of nurse to work in Intensive Care Units: an integrative review

Abstract: this study aimed to identify and analyze nurses' competences to work at intensive care units-icu. an integrative review method was used, and data were collected in lilacs, scielo and bdenf, from august to october 2010. ten articles were identified, published in the last 12 years. data grouping permitted the construction of thematic units related to nurses' competences: nursing care management, high-complexity nursing care delivery, decision making, leadership, communication, continuing/permanent education, human resource management, material resource management. the professional competences identified can support the outline of guidelines to constitute the profile of nursing working in intensive care units and drive/mobilize the improvement of nursing care practices.

Abstract: OBJETIVO: O objetivo do projeto de pesquisa é determinar a incidência das altera es oftalmológicas de crian as com a Síndrome de Down, as quais foram atendidas no Ambulatório de Especialidades Jardim Peri-Peri, no período de 7 de julho 2004 a 14 de outubro de 2009. MéTODOS: Neste trabalho empregou-se um estudo observacional retrospectivo dos prontuários de 35 crian as com Síndrome de Down, 15 do sexo feminino e 20 do masculino, da ra a branca e com 2 meses de idade. Os pacientes, no período em estudo, foram submetidos à avalia o oftalmológica que incluiu: -inspe o ocular; retinoscopia; biomicroscopia; mapeamento de Retina; teste de Milder; teste de observa o da fluoresceína na orofaringe (TOFO). RESULTADOS: As crian as deste estudo foram examinadas desde 2 meses de idade e acompanhadas anualmente. As altera es oftalmológicas encontradas nas 35 crian as com a Síndrome de Down foram: fissura palpebral oblíqua em 100%, epicanto em 70%, vasos supranumerários nas arcadas ao exame de mapeamento de retina em 100%,manchas de Brushfield em 48,57% ,blefarite em 42,85%, obstru o da via lacrimal excretora em 25,71%, miopia em 14,28%, astigmatismo em 14,28%, ambliopia em 2,85%, estrabismo convergente em 11,42%, estrabismo divergente em 5,71%, nistagmo em 2,85%, ectrópio em 5,71%, catarata congênita em 2,85%. CONCLUS O: Neste trabalho verificou-se a alta incidência de patologias oftalmológicas em crian as com a síndrome de Down, tais como: blefarites, obstru o da via lacrimal excretora, erros refracionais, estrabismos e catarata etc. As altera es oftalmológicas s o muito importantes para alertar os pais das crian as com síndrome de Down, quanto ao seu tratamento precoce proporcionando melhora na acuidade visual e no desenvolvimento neuropsicomotor dessas crian as. PURPOSE: The research project goal is to determine the incidence of ophthalmologic changes in children with Down syndrome who were attended in Peri-Peri Health Center, from july 07, 2004 to october 14, 2009. METHODS: This is an observational retrospective study of 35 children medical records with Down's Syndrome who were attended in Peri-Peri Health Center.The patients were submitted to ophthalmologic exams including: ocular inspection; retinoscopy; biomicroscopy; indirect ophthalmoscopy; fluorescein disappearance test; observation test of fluorescein in the oropharynx. RESULTS: The children of this study were examined since 2 months of age. Abstract: Neste texto discuto as fontes provenientes de arquivos de repress o. Com base nessa documenta o busco perceber a associa o entre pobreza e vadiagem, estudando os processos instaurados aos homens pobres e desocupados na cidade de S o Paulo, no período de 1933 a 1942. In this article I discuss the sources that proceeds from the repressions archives. Based on these documentation, I search for to perceive the link betwen poverty and vagrancy, verifying the instituted inquests against the poor and unemployed men in the city of S o Paulo, by the years 1933 to 1942.
