The Review of the Implicit Followership Theories (IFTs)  [PDF]
Shulan Guo
Psychology (PSYCH) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/psych.2018.94039
Abstract: Implicit followership Theories (IFTs) are defined as cognitive structures and schemas about the traits and behaviors that characterize followers. Goals of this research were to: 1) identify the content of IFTs; 2) analyze the structure of IFTs; 3) explain the research status of Implicit Followership Theories. Implicit Followership Theories (IFTs) remain a strong line of leadership research, while IFTs have infused a new perspective and excitement in our understanding of leadership and followership.

Design of power controller in CDMA system with power and SIR error minimization

Shulan KONG,Huanshui ZHANG,Zhaosheng ZHANG,Hongxia WANG,

控制理论与应用 , 2007,
Abstract: In this paper, an uplink power control problem is considered for code division multiple access (CDMA) systems. A distributed algorithm is proposed based on linear quadratic optimal control theory. The proposed scheme minimizes the sum of the power and the error of signal-to-interference ratio (SIR). A power controller is designed by constructing an optimization problem of a stochastic linear quadratic type in Krein space and solving a Kalman filter problem.
Resistin Promotes the Expression of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor in Ovary Carcinoma Cells

International Journal of Molecular Sciences , 2013, DOI: 10.3390/ijms14059751
Abstract: Resistin is a novel hormone that is secreted by human adipocytes and mononuclear cells and is associated with obesity, insulin resistance and inflammation. Recently, resistin has been postulated to play a role in angiogenesis. Here, we investigated the hypothesis that resistin regulates ovary carcinoma production of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and the angiogenic processes. We found that in human ovarian epithelial carcinoma cells (HO-8910), resistin (10–150 ng/mL) enhanced both VEGF protein and mRNA expression in a time- and concentration-dependent manner, as well as promoter activity. Furthermore, resistin enhanced DNA-binding activity of Sp1 with VEGF promoter in a PI3K/Akt-dependent manner. PI3K/Akt activated by resistin led to increasing interaction with Sp1, triggering a progressive phosphorylation of Sp1 on Thr453 and Thr739, resulting in the upregulation of VEGF expression. In an in vitro angiogenesis system for endothelial cells (EA.hy926) co-cultured with HO-8910 cells, we observed that the addition of resistin stimulated endothelial cell tube formation, which could be abolished by VEGF neutralizing antibody. Our findings suggest that the PI3K/Akt-Sp1 pathway is involved in resistin-induced VEGF expression in HO-8910 cells and indicates that antiangiogenesis therapy may be beneficial treatment against ovarian epithelial carcinoma, especially in obese patients.
Expression of bone morphogenetic protein-2 and its receptors in epithelial ovarian cancer and their influence on the prognosis of ovarian cancer patients

Abstract: Semi-quantitative RT-PCR and western blot were applied to detect the expression of BMP-2 and its receptors BMPRIA, BMPRIB, and BMPRII in EOC, benign ovarian tumors, and normal ovarian tissue at the mRNA and protein levels. Immunohistochemistry was used to determine the expression of BMP-2 and its receptors in 100 patients with EOC to analyze their influence on the five-year survival rate and survival time of ovarian cancer patients.(1) The mRNA and protein expression levels of BMP-2, BMPRIB, and BMPRII in ovarian cancer tissue were remarkably lower than those in benign ovarian tumors and normal ovarian tissue, while no significant differences in BMPRIA expression level was found among the three kinds of tissues. (2) The five-year survival rate and the average survival time after surgery of EOC patients with positive expression of BMP-2, BMPRIB, and BMPRII were remarkably higher than those of patients with negative expression of BMP-2, BMPRIB, and BMPRII. BMPRIA expression was not associated with the five-year survival rate or with the average survival time of ovarian cancer patients.BMP-2, BMPRIB, and BMPRII exhibited low expression in EOC tissue, and variation or loss of expression may indicate poor prognosis for ovarian cancer patients.Ovarian cancer is the most lethal type of malignant tumors of the female reproductive system, and despite recent developments in diagnosis and treatment techniques, the five-year survival rate for ovarian cancer patients is only 20-40%[1]. The low survival rate is likely due to the lack of early symptoms for this cancer; most patients are diagnosed at an advanced stage and exhibit widespread metastasis. At present, the pathological causes of ovarian cancer are unclear. Thus, it is urgent to investigate and search for novel treatment regimens. The development of tumors is believed to be a complex process involving several genes and several factors, and more and more influencing factors are emerging. In recent years, researchers have f
Characterization of a new mutant allele of theArabidopsis Flowering Locus D (FLD) gene that controls the flowering time by repressingFLC

Chinese Science Bulletin , 2005, DOI: 10.1007/BF02899639
Abstract: Flowering in higher plants is controlled by both the internal and environmental cues. InArabidopsis, several major genetic loci have been defined as the key switches to control flowering. TheFlowering Locus C (FLC) gene has been shown in the autonomous pathway to inhibit the vegetative-to-reproductive transition.FLC appears to be repressed byFlowering Locus D (FLD), which encodes a component of the histone deacetylase complex. Here we report the identification and characterization of a new mutant allelefld-5. Genetic analysis indicates thatfld-5 (in the Wassilewskija background) is allelic to the previously characterizedfld-3 andfld-4 (in the Colombia-0 background). Genetic and molecular analyses reveal thatfld-5 carries a frame-shift mutation, resulting in a premature termination of theFLD open reading frame. TheFLC expression is remarkably increased infld-5, which presumably attributes to the extremely delayed flowering phenotype of the mutant.
On stabilization for a class of nonlinear stochastic time-delay systems:a matrix inequality approach

Weihai ZHANG,Xuezhen LIU,Shulan KONG,Qinghua LI,

控制理论与应用 , 2006,
Abstract: This paper treats the feedback stabilization of nonlinear stochastic time-delay systems with state and control-dependent noise. Some locally (globally) robustly stabilizable conditions are given in terms of matrix inequalities that are independent of the delay size. When it is applied to linear stochastic time-delay systems, sufficient conditions for the state-feedback stabilization are presented via linear matrix inequalities. Several previous results are extended to more general systems with both state and control-dependent noise, and easy computation algorithms are also eiven.

Abstract: In this paper the preparation technique of surface nanocrystallization in commercial pure titanium was carried out by sudace mechanical attrition treatment (SMAT). The mean grain size was calculated by using X-ray diffraction (XRD)and transmission electron microscope (TEM), and the results showed that the mean grain size of the surface was refined to nm level after SMAT treatment. Nanocrystallized surface layers were formed after treated for 5, 15, 30 and60 min. Microhardness experimental results implied the microhardness obviously increased on the surface layer and it also showed the variation of microhardness at the cross section. Corrosion test results showed the corrosion resistance of the surfaces in the original commercial pure titanium treated by SMAT was not improved in HCl solution. The corrosion micrographs were observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM).
