Journal of Service Science and Management (JSSM) , 2009, DOI: 10.4236/jssm.2009.24041
Abstract: The study investigates the transmission of pricing information between Hong Kong Stock Exchange and New York Stock Exchange. Using the opening and closing stock prices of these two markets from Jan. 2003 to Apr. 2007 with the method of Seemingly Unrelated Regression, we draw the conclusions that: 1) intraday returns of Chinese dually-listed stocks is influenced more obviously by Hang Seng Index than Dow-Jones Average; 2) transmission of pricing information is only from New York to Hong Kong; 3) intraday returns of stocks from New York Stock Exchange has a remarkable influence on that of the next day in Hongkong market, but the stocks price of Hong Kong Stock Exchange has no relation with which of New York Stock Exchange.
Key Core Project Management of Construction Industry to Study  [PDF]

Open Journal of Social Sciences (JSS) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/jss.2014.23010

The term “project management” has been applied widely in various industries for several decades. Project Management Institute (PMI) in United States claims that the five processes are specially emphasized in project management. They are also necessarily applied with the nine great knowledge aspects of project management, integration, scope, time schedule, cost, quality, human resources, communication, risk, and procurement. Project Management Association (IPMA) under European system indicates that method application is a key aspect to achieve efficiently the planning schedule, cost, quality, and scope. According to discussions from British and American systems mentioned above, what is the core aspect in project management? On which aspect shall we expect the project executives to focus in order to achieve the target more efficiently? For this purpose, this research is focusing on proving the three core aspects of planning schedule, quality, and cost, basing on Kano II dimension quality mode. Also, the research result will be provided to operators in project management and the related researchers.

Abstract: A modified diagram of theoretical requirements of carbon in ore reduction and heat supply for iron smelting has been proposed. The carbon requirements for reduction of Fe_3O_4 and that of wustite under different degrees of direct reduction of wiistite are separately considered in the proposed diagram. It is evident that the heat requirement varies with the degree of direct reduction, and is different from that conventionally adopted by some workers. The proposed diagram indicates the possibility of reducing the coke ratio to about 450 kg/ton of pig-iron, by proper preparation of raw materials, by working with a moderate driving rate under a favourable distribution of ascending gas currents across the furnace cross section to improve the gas utilization and by lowering the starting temperature of reduction of wustite. In actual practice, a surplus of reducing agents above the equilibrium is required, in order to control a proper rate of reduction; and stronger peripheral and central gas currents are required for smoother operation. Thus, the lowest possible coke ratio and the degree of direct reduction are usually higher than that theoretically required for minimum carbon supply, and can only be attained with easily reducible sinters or pellets.

Use or Non-Use of Gerontechnology—A Qualitative Study
Ke Chen,Alan Hoi-shou Chan
International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health , 2013, DOI: 10.3390/ijerph10104645
Abstract: This study employed a qualitative approach to explore the attitudes and experiences of older people towards using gerontechnology, and to determine the underlying reasons that might account for their use and non-use of gerontechnology. Four focus group discussions and 26 individual interviews were undertaken. Qualitative data were analyzed using NVivo software and were categorized using coding and grounded theory techniques. The result indicated that old people in Hong Kong had an overall positive attitude toward technology. Positive attitudes were most frequently related to enhanced convenience and advanced features. Negative attitudes were most frequently associated with health risks and social problems arising from using technology (e.g., social isolation and addiction). Usage of technology is driven by outcome expectations and social influences, and supported by facilitators, whereas non-use of gerontechnology relates to the personal (e.g., health and functional capacities), technological (e.g., cost and complexity), and environmental barriers experienced. Use of gerontechnology is a synthesis of person, technology, and environment. To encourage non-users to adopt technology, there is a need to remove barriers at personal, technological, and environmental levels.
Removable singularity of positive solutions for a critical elliptic system with isolated singularity
Zhijie Chen,Chang-Shou Lin
Mathematics , 2014,
Abstract: We study qualitative properties of positive singular solutions to a two-coupled elliptic system with critical exponents. This system is related to coupled nonlinear Schrodinger equations with critical exponents for nonlinear optics and Bose-Einstein condensates. We prove a sharp result on the removability of the same isolated singularity for both two components of the solutions. We also prove the nonexistence of positive solutions with one component bounded near the singularity and the other component unbounded near the singularity. These results will be applied in a subsequent work where the same system in a punctured ball will be studied.
New type of non-topological bubbling solutions to a competitive Chern-Simons model
Zhijie Chen,Chang-Shou Lin
Mathematics , 2014,
Abstract: We investigate a non-Abelian Chern-Simons system, including the simple Lie algebras $\mathbf{A}_2$ and $\mathbf{B}_2$. In a previous work, we proved the existence of radial non-topological solutions with prescribed asymptotic behaviors via the degree theory. We also constructed a sequence of partially bubbling solutions, which blow up with only one component partially at infinity. In this paper, we construct a sequence of radial non-topological bubbling solutions of another type explicitly. One component of these bubbling solutions locally converge to a non-topological solution of the Chern-Simons-Higgs scalar equation, but both components blow up partially in different regions at infinity at the same time. This generalizes a recent work by Choe, Kim and the second author, where the SU(3) case (i.e., $\mathbf{A}_2$) was studied. Our result is new even for the SU(3) case.
ANOVA for longitudinal data with missing values
Song Xi Chen,Ping-Shou Zhong
Statistics , 2012, DOI: 10.1214/10-AOS824
Abstract: We carry out ANOVA comparisons of multiple treatments for longitudinal studies with missing values. The treatment effects are modeled semiparametrically via a partially linear regression which is flexible in quantifying the time effects of treatments. The empirical likelihood is employed to formulate model-robust nonparametric ANOVA tests for treatment effects with respect to covariates, the nonparametric time-effect functions and interactions between covariates and time. The proposed tests can be readily modified for a variety of data and model combinations, that encompasses parametric, semiparametric and nonparametric regression models; cross-sectional and longitudinal data, and with or without missing values.
